Hi anyone knows what happens if the cashier told me payment unsuccessful with Maybank AMEX? My iPhone didn’t tell me payment not successful and no response at all. The 3rd time I tried with my Maybank debit card it was a success. By the way made the payment in Caltex petrol station.

I’m surprised cause the cashier told me they accept AMEX and I perform similar transaction at Caltex without just last weekend without issue. Any possibility Caltex does not accept Apple Pay? 🤔

Amex is only accepted at Caltex cashier counter, the card machine at the pump does not accept AMEX.

I failed twice with Journey Mastercard on Apple Pay. I just searched back the thread. Look like it is known issue for long time

yes, same as my testing. It also failed on SC Debit card. initially i thought is my card problem, but work on others. tested on fews 99speedmart. all same problem on any SC cc or debit card. So avoid SC on this merchant

Does anyone know what the problem is? Called bank to remove the token and still not able to add the card back to Apple Pay. (Maybank Debit)

have you checked whether both overseas purchasing and online purchasing is enabled for your card? Apple might be doing a RM 0 verification charge in the background and those being disabled might block it from occurring

also can try making sure your iOS is updated to 17.3 and that your phone region is set to Malaysia

worse comes to worse, try replacing your card at a debit card replacement machine (usually will have at major Maybank branches)

for me I notice that the orange machines can only accept Visa through Apple Pay. Mastercard through Apple Pay won't work, but tapping physical Mastercard will work. probably their terminal software not updated / not configured to receive phone-based contactless payments for Mastercards
