Apple Pay will be available in Kuwait  since there is an official news from their bank institution saying that they got invitation from Apple Pay and reached agreement with Apple Pay to adopt Apple Pay services in Kuwait ☺️
Sorry guys but if Apple is coming to Malaysia they should announce in bnm website that they are trying to institute the service in Malaysia like what the other countries did
*
Well I think we can see which comes to have Apple Pay first, by next week. In my opinion, launching of Apple Pay doesn't necessary mean Apple or any other representative has to make any kind of announcement beforehand to really proof that Apple Pay is on the way. I mean, it's simply up to them and/or Apple, whether or not to announce/give any hint about release of Apple Pay in a certain country. Most surprising scenario can even be you unexpectedly find out AP is here the moment you wake up in the morning.

Base on ur post history u been giving so many dates so it’s hard for me to believe this statement this time sorry

One guy previously made a great smart guess on the date using data-driven approach. I'm feeling very good and confident of the date he endorsed thumbsup.gif

My predictions

1) Tiger
2) Camel
3) Peee Beee
4) SC
5) Wise
6) BP???? I have doubts
Of course I hope our ancient TnG tech is also supported at least on public transports. I don't forsee it working on highways (I don't mind this as come on, how u gonna tap ur phone/watch on the reader LOL).

I think technically it’s possible for TnG to do AP in viewing the recent NFC version of TNG card made available, it’s just a question whether they want it or not. In fact, also depends on how they’d see this AP as a new way of selling their cards. Why? Think about it: the new NFC TNG card is so hot right now that they got sold out seconds after every restock. And coincidently, AP virtual transport card would be able to solve this issue as the cards can now be made available instantly thru the AP platform (look at how Japanese, Hongkongers can purchase their Suica & Octopus card thru AP). Besides, they can in fact charge customer with same price as the physical card yet don’t even have to worry about chip shortage/ordering those chip anymore since it’d be all virtual.

But of course, my hypothesis would only be valid if the market proportion of iPhone in Malaysia is sufficiently prominent to be able to contribute a good amount of revenue.

i doubt

their prepaid visa still nowhere seen
*
I don’t personally think they can succeed with that, because for prepaid Visa card we already have a big player here, the MAE.

weird cause now apple didn't have any announcement on their page. Normally apple will account before anything.
*
They don't have to disclose anything to us, by right. What to say/announce beforehand is totally up to them.

hi guys/ sifus I am of those hoping AP will come here.. if ever, but meantime can anyone here explain why BN/ or whoever is in charge not approved AP here already..?

is it because Apple is imposing on charges (too high) on using AP here?
*
Those insiders should be able to answer that once all these BTS details are declassified after the launch. But as far as I’m concerned, it would have involved lots of other factors besides transaction fee alone. And if you Google Apple Pay in Korea, you will find that they likely will never have AP due to the ridiculously high fee charges against the card issuers in SK compared to other countries. Plus, it is known that NFC terminals aren’t as prominent in SK since most of them are still rely on IC-based readers.

As we move closer to the launch, I went snooping around YouTube and I hope they (AP x TnG) can do this here for our public transport. At the very least, come on.

It might happen if RapidKL proceeds their intend to implement MyDebit fare gate terminal, as this will give pressure to and challenges the monopoly position of TnG.

According to history, iPay88 has actually implemented Google Pay back in 2019, however at that time it was only limited to purchases in Play Store.

But perhaps more importantly, I think we should look into whether the appearance of Google Pay in Malaysia's Shopee app occurred at the same time as Apple Pay. If true, chances could either be:

- Google Pay would arrive in near future following Apple Pay's release
- they accidentally toggled the Gpay option while updating the app to finally support AP

I'm just wondering, is there a possibility that our AP will be soft launched by Visa & Mastercard Malaysia instead of directly by Apple themselves?

Since Apple's own event will be on September right? hmm.gif
*
Most probably is done by banks' side. AFAIK Apple never held any kind of media event just for a service thingy, even when AP was launched in Japan (where iOS adoption rate is one of the highest). I think looking back at how SP was launched here back in 2015 should give us a rough picture how this upcoming one would look like.

Apple is certainly not happy with the leaks so far, merchants/banks have been expressively told not to update their websites or distribute fliers or tweets anything related to the launch.

Woops perhaps we should keep this thread quiet for a while from now on...?? innocent.gif

(cuz all heats memang originated from here hehe)

I don’t think companies like adidas maxis and Shopee would do anything without permission from Apple
*
It really makes the difference, whether you put the flier in premise or enabling AP service on ecommerce platform. But of course the former one would look more like a serious "leak", because technically (and legally) AP memang haven't released in Malaysia yet, but then someone suddenly put up a sign saying "XX accepted here". Think about it how Apple would see that as an offence.

Those ecommerce like Shopee on the other hand, would have a very valid excuse like "I just toggle teh switch now only mah". Cuz at the end of the day for what Shopee/Adidas do, they don't explicitly put it as "XX has been released in Malaysia" that kind of sense.

TLDR: It's a legal word game.

how about user on beta ios16?
*
Apple Pay is a service, not application/software. Hence, it shouldn’t be OS-dependent. All of us should be able to use Apple Pay immediately once the service backend is rollout to production mode. The moment you see MY entry on the JSON file someone pointed out before this, that’s the moment Apple Pay is officially released in Malaysia.

How does credit card benefit work with AP? If I add let's say card that have dining cashback. Does using it with AP still eligble for that? The transaction show AP deduct or directly merchant (the dinning place)?
*
It should work. Cuz remember, AP is just a wallet instead of a payment processor. That means whatever Apple Pay is, the transaction will still go through the bank’s network, eventually. And from there bank will be able to see every details of your transaction (using their own private decryption key on top of AP’s encrypted trans), hence would be able to grant you any reward according to their current promos.

Therefore this is also why bank’s participation is even more important than Apple’s role. How those transactions will be handled are all on banks’ side (hence setting up their own AP backend). Apple is just a solution provider, whereas our banks are the implementers.

Guys, quick update. Because of what AmBank did, the official launch time for other banks will now be… earlier than scheduled.

Fact: All banks agreed to only disclose it by 2:30PM tomorrow. But now no more, cuz Ambank… did something actually not supposed to.

Ok calm down guys. First of all, did the camel just ruined the entire schedule? Definitely YES… but, are the rest really going to announce early? It’s both yes and no… but from what I’ve gotten they EXPECT others to push the schedule ahead as the MORE LIKELY measure they’d take to counter the effect.

Anyway guys, I hope this all of us understand my actual meaning is that, from now on, ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN in the next second. Meaning that what other FI would do, are now all TOTALLY UNFORESEEABLE. Hope that clarifies.
