It's valid, that's the proper SOP to prevent fraud, we don't practice that (verifying the name on the card to the owner by asking for ID) and sometimes we have fraud cases happening more here. Cutting corners, etc.I am an advocate that all physical cards should not have the contactless payments coil/ feature in them, it's a security nightmare, if I found a card that was dropped on the street, I can shop up to RM 250, groceries, petrol, meals, entertainment.
Contactless payments should go through a layer like Apple Pay/ Google Pay/ Samsung Pay
