Honda Malaysia recalls 2014 City and 2015 Jazz over CVT control software issue – 12,329 units affected
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Honda Malaysia has announced a recall for 12,232 units of its fourth-generation City (2014 model year) and 97 units of its third-generation Jazz (2015 model year) over an issue with improper hydraulic pressure control software involving the vehicles’ continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The company says that in a situation where there is a quick stepping on and releasing of the accelerator pedal at high speed, high hydraulic pressure will cause high stress to be generated to the drive pulley shaft and may cause the shaft to be broken, resulting in the vehicle experiencing a loss of power during driving.
The exercise seeks to rectify the powertrain control module (PCM) in affected cars through a CVT software update, which contains a stress reduction software. As of today, there have been no crashes or injuries related to this issue reported in Malaysia.
Honda Malaysia says it is taking this preemptive measure to ensure customer safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to all affected customers. The company adds that aside from the specified total of vehicles, other fourth-gen City and third-generation Jazz are not affected, and neither are other current selling models
All affected customers will be informed via notification letters, which will include details of the product update. Customers who receive the letter are advised to send their vehicles to the nearest authorised Honda dealer for inspection. Any charges related to the product update will be borne by Honda Malaysia.

Back in October, Honda Malaysia announced that it would be increasing the pricing of its products by 2% to 3% starting from January 2016, the hike attributed to the ringgit’s slump this year. The company said then that it would be monitoring the exchange rate closely and decide on the price in December.
With 2016 a few days away, the first of the increases has come about – pricing for the Honda City model range has been revised, as revealed by a new price list for the car sent in by reader Mohd Faiz. The increase, which comes into effect on January 1, covers all four variants in the lineup, and are as follows:
Honda City Grade S – RM76,100 (post-GST, RM74,008) Honda City Grade S+ – RM79,300 (post-GST, RM77,124) Honda City Grade E – RM84,600 (post-GST, RM82,270) Honda City Grade V – RM92,000 (post-GST, RM89,468)
In more direct fashion, this works out to an increase of RM2,092 for the Grade S, RM2,176 for the Grade S+, RM2,330 for the Grade E and RM2,532 for the Grade V.
The fifth-gen City was introduced in Malaysia in March 2014, and all four current model grades were available at point of launch. All variants are powered by a 1.5 litre SOHC i-VTEC engine offering 120 PS at 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm at 4,600 rpm, and the mill is paired with a CVT gearbox.

The New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP) today released the latest round of test results at the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards in Kuching, Sarawak – four models make up the set for Q3 2014 testing, which is part of the agency’s move towards a more frequent “test-and-publish” programme following the conclusion of its three-phase pilot project.
The four vehicles that underwent the latest round of crash test evaluation are the 2014 Honda City and 2014 Honda Jazz, the Tata Vista and the upcoming Perodua Axia. The result summary for the vehicles in both Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and Child Occupant Protection (COP) is as follows:
Perodua Axia 1000-E built 2014, MY2014 – Adult: 4 stars, Child: 4 stars Honda City SV built 2014, MY2014 – Adult: 5 stars (4 stars, two airbags), Child: 4 stars Honda Jazz SV, built 2014, MY2014 – Adult: 5 stars (4 stars, two airbags), Child: 4 stars Tata Vista GZX 1.4L built 2014, MY2014 – Adult: 3 stars, Child: 3 stars The Tata Vista, which scored 9.24 points out of a possible 16 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), is produced in India and is only available in Indonesia and Myanmar. The agency says that this is the first time a car of Indian manufacturing origin has undergone ASEAN NCAP assessment.
Both Honda City and Jazz models that were tested were Thai-built models for the Thailand market, with the six airbags variant scoring five stars, and the two airbag version obtaining four stars. In the AOP rating, the Honda City broke the record score in ASEAN NCAP testing by managing 15.80 points, surpassing the previous high of 15.73 points obtained by the Ford Fiesta. The Jazz scored 15.58 points.
The Perodua Axia, meanwhile, has the honour of being the first vehicle in the evaluation programme to be launched into the market with ASEAN NCAP results, and is set to be the most affordable 4-star car (in both AOP and COP) in the ASEAN region, according to the agency. It managed an AOP score of 12.91.

It allows you to use the touch screen without looking at the phone
Which means you can control your Music and use Waze from your HU. It also works without bypass
Get the Digital AV Adapter cable, HDMI cable and connect the necessary wires to your car HU
Step 3 Pair your phone bluetooth with your car HU
Step 4 Plug in your phone to the Digital AV cable and the HDMI is connected to your car HU. At the menu, you will notice that there will be an arrow pointing to the right
Step 5 Open App Radio app
Step 6 Click on the right arrow on your HU. You will be presented with the word "connecting..."
Step 7 After few seconds, you will notice the Pioneer App Radio launcher is launched. Swipe right and you will see your Waze icon
Step 8. Click on Waze and it will switch to Waze app. First time connecting waze will prompt you a dialog asking you do you want external device control waze. Click Yes
Step 9. Waze will work and you can use the touch screen to play it.
Step 10: The moment you click the home button on your HU, it will disconnects the screen. You need to open back Waze from your phone.
With jailbreak, you can do more where the HOME BUTTON WILL WORK flawlessly.
The behavior will be as following
1) Plugged in the HDMI cable, it will auto connect to your car HU via bluetooth and AppRadio launcher will launch 2) Clicking the home button will open AppRadio launcher
Step 1: Download the honda app launcher and Pioneer AppRadio app
Step 2: Make sure you have activator installed on your phone.
Step 3: Connect to your car HU via bluetooth and HDMI
Step 3: Go to Settings > Activator > Anywhere > Bluetooth Devices. Step 3a: At Bluetooth Devices > Connected to Honda HFT. Select User Application > App Radio
Step 4: Go to Settings > Activator > Anywhere > More Step 4a: Select Application Launch > Choose Honda Launcher
Step 5: Go to Settings > Activator > Anywhere > Application Launched Step 5a: At Launch Launcher > Choose App Radio
*optional if you always plug in charger with HDMI together
Step 6: Go to Settings > Activator > Anywhere > Power Step 6a: At Connected > Choose Switches > Bluetooth
With these steps, your HU screen home button will work and whenever you connect the Digital AV cable in your car to your phone, it will auto open AppRadio where you can jump to other AppRadio approved applications.
When you press home on your HU, it will auto launch Honda Launcher app and it will redirect to AppRadio automatically.

I didn't snap much photo for the DIY. So, I simply draft out the DIY idea here..
First thing, buy a plug and play illuminated side step. Which I get from Sato auto acc m sdn bhd on Mudah
RM160 + RM20 postage to my place.
The side steps comes with the complete wiring and socket for our ride. Which means you no need to cut any wire. No warranty issue on this DIY. Just plug and play.
On the wiring of the side step, I tap on 2 extra bulb for the foot light (red/black wire). See the photo below.
Bought the T5 socket for the foot light bulb on eBay. Which cost me around RM5 for each of it. Then buy a wire holder from electric shop. Tied the bulb on it and put 3M double side tape behind. And ready to put below the dashboard. Oh ya, the T5 blue LED from eBay as well.
After the wiring work is done. Its time to open interior cover part by part to route the wire. Those steps I follow some tutorial on youtube. Important reminder. Be extremely careful to the handling of the retaining tabs and clips particularly.
Very simple right? hope you guys can DIY yourself a set like mine.

Make you check your radiator water level also like how you check your tyre pressure...
Never use tap water, mineral water, filter water, etc...
Tap water is full of calcium, magnesium and other deposits which will form scaling (like in a boiler) and reduce the heat reduction efficiency of the radiator, clogging it with deposits.
Always use Honda Coolant Type 2 which is premixed and ready to pour into your radiator... Get a bottle from Hingan for rm20+... SC won't top up with the coolant but with tap water... Your City came out from factory with this Type 2 coolant inside...

Let me help you guys know more about cars and engine oil. The reason why SC insisted on not changing the oil is because there's a reason to it. All new Honda cars are filled with a special type of engine oil from the factory. Its different from those sold in the market or SC. This type of oil are meant for new engines that requires breaking in thus the composition of chemicals, addictives etc are different.
If you guys google more, u will notice Honda USA have explanation on the 1,000km doesn't require an oil change.
I hope i gave some useful info for you guys.

City CVT Mode

QUOTE
To make it easier to understand, CVT varies between a set of ratios (Let's say 3.5 to 0.7), while for 5AT each gear has its own ratio.
D mode = All ratios is being used for maximum efficiency (For AT, which means all 5 gears can be engaged, and CVT can vary into all the given ratio)
S mode = O/D Off, for Honda 5AT you are left with 1,2,3 only since 4 and 5 are OD gear. The same goes to CVT (which means the ratio range is now reduced to 3.5 to 1.0) hence dubbed as sport mode since with shorter ratio your rpm stays higher, and shorter ratio (lower gear) means more responsive throttle, and also better traction. It is like how you would go to lower gear on slope/going down hill/taking a corner.
L mode = Only the initial ratio (means only first gear for AT, first ratio range for CVT) used only for heavy towing or you are really going down a super slope
by ZeroSP
QUOTE
Yes, if you going up genting and you want easier time, put it to S mode. And going down hill the same also, you will want to use the lower gear ratio range in S mode.
I dunno what car you drive before but to sum it up.
D mode = D mode just like any car
S mode = O/D off in most general automatic car, or some car marked as D3 (As I have seen in Kelisa), cause their D is D4.
L mode = Same like normal L mode
Maintaining CVT and its performance, install a CVTF cooler (normally referred as ATF cooler, but since this is not an AT, I call it CVTF cooler), it works the same just to cool down your transmission fluid.
And for Honda, use the premium CVTF from Japan instead of normal grade CVTF from Singapore. The premium is called HMMF (Honda Multi Matic Fluid) that comes in 4 litre can and cost 2x of normal CVTF. Many claims they are the same, but I tell you no, it is far different. I have used the HMMF for the my home old City, the ATF-DW1 Ultra for my sister's City, and also the MTF-3 Ultra for my bro's FD2R. All Japan version have superior response, especially in the CVT and AT, since for MT the gear change smoothness depends on your clutch control.
Note: The new City CVT is paired with Torque Converter, therefore I am not sure whether HMMF or the HCF-2 should be used as I do not own the new City. Kindly refer to your manual book.

I've found these components and managed to DIY a by-pass with a total cost around RM20 with a whole roll of crimp contacts left. Been using the bypass for more than 5 months now with no issues. All items bought from RS Components site and received by mail with next day delivery.

latest project, successfully mirror the image using wireless connection from my hp to V spec HU. BTW, this is my 2nd attempt using a HDMI wifi dongle manufactured by different company. solution, need a dongle that support low resolution (most dongle in our market only support high resolution) & using built-it miracast function in my new hp. damaged, rm100 for a wifi dongle & rm279 for Asus Zenfone4 hp. easy to setup, plug n play. connection stable & smooth without any problem. no need to use HDMI, MHL or Apple Digital AV cable anymore.. :-)
dongle original location..
i hide the dongle behind the dashboard, beside the passengger legroom using an ext hdmi cable..
Hii guys. I've few question regarding my car and need your opinion.
1. Noisy sound somewhere around dashboard area and glass knocking sound at passenger side while driving. Already ask SC to check but the sound still there. Very annoying sound 😔 2. Where to get good quality yet cheap polish/auto detailing service around KL? Been travelling back and forth KL-Kerteh. Lots of "calar balar" on car body because of small small stone i think. 3. Where to get good service to install modulo skirt and new sportrim? Want to make up my car. Thinking of same design as attached pic heehee 😁 4. Check thru honda website on any update for my car. Suddenly appear require new battery replacement. But no official letter from honda until now. Should i go direct to SC?
Would like to ask if any owner changed their tire from 185/55/16 to 195/50/16 (Continental MC5) ? Can I have some feedback? Bridgestone Potenza RE050A (195/55/16) as well.
Couldn't decide between this 3 tire. XM2 , MC5 or RE050A.

Thank you all so much
1) look for Hingan Auto in fb for Honda Thailand Original rev.camera , estimated RM 1,300+ or Rm300 normal china rev.camera
2) tint depend on ur budget... normal security tint RM600+ from raytech up to RM3k from 3M

New 2016 city owner here. Discusssed with my honda saleman and he sold and installed a RM300 reverse camera. My fren 2 years ago bought for rm450 and can only installed side of rear. Mine is exactly at rear of boot for latest city version (2016).
Tint price varies with brand and quality. Some cost 1k plus like my bro but i just got a 1.6k for ecotint for better heat protection and security tint. To be honest I cant feel the difference.
Going to install next auto lock on speed and auto side mirror flip next. These should be cheap modules to install and it's crazy the first page advertise so expensive prices.
My car battery just died this morning(recall letter not yet arrive, bad luck). Yesterday still can start as normal. What happen was, I start my car(push start), light appear then straight black out. I try to start again my car but i could not as my brake become harden. I try to jump start my car and i am able to start my car but the problem is my steering keep kick back and the steering indicator appear when ever i turn my steering to the right and left. Is it the battery is weak then the power steering could not have enough power?
Once i change to a new battery my car normal back to normal. I saw the Yokohama did have some leakage at the side but not so much. Luckily it did not explode.

Did u go to sc to change ? Or u buy a new battery urself? U can claim a new battery even no letter frm honda
bought crystal vision for 220 last time around january where to get for 160??
I am selling them. See my signature. My Philips Crystal Vision & Diamond Vision should be the cheapest in Malaysia. Don't buy performance bulbs from accessories shops. They treat you as carrot and make huge margin from it.

No bro, It was 6.30 in the morning and was going for workXD Then i proceed to the the nearby shell station to purchase a new battery. Can i still take the battery from Honda since i already change it myself?

What is taking HM so long to distribute the goddamn recall letter. News for battery incompatibility came out before my service in March and now getting nearer to my upcoming service. Is there any way that we can push them so we can get the letter ASAP.

Hi all, anyone renewing their insurance? Wonder if I should renew under Honda insurance or just go pos office renew myself? Also, what's the sum insured for city now? My sales man quoted rm65k.
Hi all.. juz done my first 10k service today.and bloody hell i forget to ask for the remaining engine oil. honda no giv bac customer the leftover engine oil? im trying my luck to get it bac tml.
Question.. I usually renew insurance online and renew roadtax. For honda cars under HIP, do you guys stop by a showroom to renew insurance so can be under HIP? No other way to do online?
I am interested in installing Vkool Elite on my front windscreen with visible light transmittance of 73.2%. Anyone has any idea whether how much it will affect my night visibility? because i am very scare of driving in the night and I usually drive at night as my work ends quite late.

If they use the big tong one, don't think they'll give it back since it fill up the exact amount like petrol pump.

As far i know honda is using tong to pump the oil to your car like some of here mentioned. Have a look at your receipt, they should charge you the exact amount of oil your car is used, rather than charge a 4L oil but use 3L.
hmm..they charged me by 4L bottle packaging.. if they charge me based on my actual usage that is fine. i call back to ask, SC told me first time they will flush/blow? more, so no oil left.. nth much i can do i guess? hv to keep in mind next time to ask for leftover..
Hi..new owner reporting in..V spec modern steel. I havent checked my car thoroughly but so far no noticeable gap. However one thing bothers me.during low rpm,i can feel slight vibration on the gas pedal and it goes away as i accelerate.is this normal in honda city?thanks for your help

Wanna know am I the only one facing this problem? Please help me on this Sifus!

Once you paired your phone with HU via Bluetooth, you can notice on the HU'S screen your phone have been connected, and got phone signal symbol on top of it.
You may asked someone to call you while you in the car, HU will show you caller and you may pick up using touch screen or button on the steering.
But make sure you successfully paired your phone and never turn off your Bluetooth.

My first car. I know can get from the manual, but some sifu here say, we can reject some items during the service.
Engine oil and oil filter only
only need to change this 2 major thing . dust and pollen only need to change on 20-30k service . definitely not 10k ....
if u see engine treatment oil , pls reject it .. ur 10k km engine is very clean . no need to spend the RM30 on that stuff . Spend ur money on Caltex R95 for cleaner engine , not on this treatment oil.
on ur service order form , pls reject every single thing on Optional column. Optional = Unnecessary

I figure it was due to the plastic expanded when it was hot, so the rattling sound became much more obvious. Most of the time, i only came back to get my car at evening, so I didn't bother it that much >.<

Just my thoughts .. but de current 2k versions of white [include pearl white ; which has a second clear coat covering de white colour paint] is loads better than de flat single coating white of old.. my wifeys 2012 taffeta white jazz still considered 'white'
Suggestion on maintenance - wash frequently n wax often.. but l guess u alrdy know tat..
I feel 195 looks better than 185 and more grip on the road... But sacrifices a bit of fuel economy...
195 can fit the v spec rim? hmm...google 185/55r16 only two options available in malaysia Continential CC5 & Michelin XM2 aiks so little choices which one is more worthy?
195 can fit la don't worry..only 1 step wider..i'm even using 195 on my e spec rims which is 2 steps wider..not sure it's the best way to go but i'm just trying it out. Hated 175 tyres

dont like that... i also wanna know . btw , finally changed my faulty motor starter. RM630+ . claim warranty. waited for 10working days for the part to arrive.
Yes I know... Also depends on the road conditions, oil, sand, idiot driver trying to be racer, etc etc...
I am using RE003 205/50/16. Super good grip when dry, silent and reasonable price. A big upgrade over stock goodyear & a little bit better than Conti MC5.
But it does really prone to aquaplaning. Just don't drive so fast while raining. Yeah, the tire wear is very high too...not a durable tire.

hi ppl, it's working.sorry, no photos yet as i got it workin pretty late, but working with 4G connectivity.
i'm using android, hp samsung s7, the technology is miracast. it will mirror the hp screen to the HU screen, there is no touch control on the HU screen for me, i still need to use my handphone to make any changes, but u can use whatever apps u wan. in landscape mode, the display is full screen.
4G connectivity is still up, it uses wifi-direct to create the connectivity.
1 key thing for any1 trying to setup, DO NOT USE THE STEERING CONTROLS TO CHOOSE THE SOURCE. apparently it will not toggle off the Info screen which I have use as default.
instead, press the Home button, Audio, then choose AUX-HDMI, it should display nicely.
i'll get some pics for u guyz.

I prefer comfort (not too soft) and less noise with good grip on dry and wet roads... I m very much satisfied with my current tired... Hankook Kinergy Ex... With so much rains recently.. It faired well while going through puddle of waters.... At ease!
Dont forget to "breathe"... Mr. Miyagi teach you ah, also develop some equally bad waxing techniques. In the movie, The Karate Kid, Mr. Miyagi teaches his student, “Daniel-san,” to wax an "invisible" car in circular motions.
He makes no mention of how much wax to use. apart from that, preparation is very importanat. Washing, claying helps to remove embedded debris like sand or corrosive substances.
It will ensure the wax fills in the “pores” of the paint and bonds with it completely. Circular motions have no real basis as far as coverage. It probably is supposed to mimic the action of an orbital machine, but all it ends up doing is causing halo effects that can be hard to remove.
It is probably best for novices to use those spray on, wipe off wax.
Else the best motion will be swirling circular motion and moving in a straight line. Watch those proffessional waxing shop do it and you will get the idea.

Can do some simple surveys, there are pretty much option out there rather than HM, depend on type of material u want
Hi all, my SA told me that VSA of City will only function if the car speed is below 40 km/h, can someone confirm this?? Thanks..
paultan crew did a comparsion video between almera, vios n city. in it, they did test the VSA and i remember the speed is above 50km/h the SA who handed me my car told me to switch off my VSA when it's raining.................she's kinda not very well-informed to me
Anybody know how to disable Mirror Link? Whenever i use my my Honda City USB port to charge the phone. My phone will black out as it has automatically sync to the system , any you guys have any idea how to disable the mirror link?
So you like this color or not ? or other color better ?
should be expecting my lunar silver this weekend. finger crossed and hopefully everything goes smoothly.. well its just another silver. so its up to u whether u like silver or not. cant really tell the difference unless u have the lighter one right beside it.
Ok lor. I chose this silver is to reflect more heat only if not I would choose black. PS: I also waiting for my lunar silver. Cross fingers before Wednesday please.
Congratulation IceFlame21 Hopefully you make a right decision.
What? Off VSA when it's raining?? Only function below 40 km/h?? These SA all biar betul...
Seriously, when the SA told me this I was like what? Function below 40km/h? if below 40 dun need VSA also no prob.. if seriously function only below 40 then what's the point having VSA in the car? when most of the time we will be driving above 40km/h..

Your SA lagi imba, switch off when it is raining.. I am thinking whether is Honda having too many s/s+ in the warehouse so the SA keep pushing these non VSA model..
Anyone know of any good places to do some paint touch ups?
I've got a few scratches and a dent from a minor accident to take care of but when I went to the 3S Centre, they suggested I rerepainmy whole car...
Parts that HAVE SCRATCHES:
Front Bumper Front Bonnet Front Left Side Mirror Front Left Tire-thingy (the one that connects to the main body) Front Passenger door Bottom skirt on Rear Passenger door Rear Passenger door Back bumper Driver side door
None of the above have like super huge or noticeable marks just that if you look at it, you'd know it's there. All of the above parts would cost me more than 5K to repaint at the 3S Centre.
Mirrorlink not able to disable. i kinda give up trying to do that. but the USB cable that we use, u hv to find those with charging pins only which cannot do data sync. else u can try to do some mods to the cable... or jus get a cig socket usb adaptor

I would go for whole body re-spray to ensure no rust developing later. Didn't you reported the accident to the police? Can claim your / the other party's insurance if reported.

Sadly these were not caused by accidents for me to be able to claim insurance on from other people. I can use my car's insurance to claim for the repaint but what if (touchwood), some driver decides to hit my car or I accidentally hit theirs. I just renewed my insurance last week.
Like i mentioned, these are scratches which I really wonder where they come from. The doors, they are quite obvious as some people might've parked too close for comfort but the bumpers and the skirt?

If just scratches, then I would just live with it but if it is dented on metal body part, then I will get that part re-sprayed. My city has scratches from cat's nails scratches and other inconsiderate car owners parked beside.

Check your car paint code and buy the touch up paint from this website. If the scratches are minor, it can be touched up.
Brothers, need opinion for above offer; install sportivo city 14 body kit RM1.3k. Worth it? Nice look? Not sure if looks good on my steel metallic since searching internet and only see other types..
Hey, have you actually tried using them on your car? Does it actually work on slightly deeper scratched surface like for eg. scratch the lower front bumper on a road pavement ?
No sanding is needed using a sandpaper or something?

Can you share us what hdmi bypass cable and wifi dongle brand u use ?
i'm using android , samsung s7. it's mirrorlink 1.1, which can't work with the HU which is mirrorlink 1.0.
installing the hdmi bypass cable is the tricky part. suggest u open the panel under the air con controls. 1 hand press down the release catch on the connector, the other hand try to use a flat head screwdriver to push on the connector ledge to push it out. after connectin up the connector, 1 hand move to when the port is, and the other then move the connector to the port. space is VERY VERY limited and u cannot hardly see what u r doing. so feel is the best.
i'm using ezcast m2 dongle(many fakes, hv to ensure u get a honest dealer) and the hdmi bypass cable is from a seller here.
if any1 of u is interested, pls pm me. i can reply u with the details. i dun earn a cent, jus helping u.

Hi, everyone. I just get my City V spec. Rebate RM7,500.
The SA told me not to install reverse camera as it will void the 5 year warranty. Means that is no other way to install the reverse camera without void the warranty?
Guys .. If you drive above 140 KM/H did your car drive stable and straight ?
Mine feel very wobbly. Like angin lintang left and right. I usually never drive above 130 but today when I did I feel very scare because not stable.
I once cruised 140km/h on penang second bridge. Smooth ride like butter. Can sleep soundly. Sometimes it's the road condition, sometimes the car. Mine is 17' tyre.
The car and the steering itself is on the lighter side. Crosswinds will affect its stability for sure. But I've driven it close to 170km/h before but once or twice only. This car is not meant to be pushed to those kind of speeds on stock specifications but up to 140km/h for me is ok la. Stable enough to give me confidence while driving it.
Hi all, anyone here using the tint offer by Honda Malaysia? I am thinking to put the 3m horizon or Ecotint barrier 4 on my new city s+.. is the tinted offer worth and good? Coz those tinted seems a bit expensive and low solar energy rejection.. I understand that higher solar energy rejection might be darker with there is a risk of jpj not approve..
Due to budget restriction, I choose s+ over e spec, not sure whether is it a good n wise choice.. going to make my booking this weekend.. anyone can advise before I make my booking? Hehe.. Thanks..

Well, since u getting the S+, why not just the S? E spec would be recommended due to VSC. Not sure about the tinting they offer.

Take E spec at least for the safety feature of VSA. Thats the whole point of buying Honda City. If u take S+, u might as well get other cheaper brands. Even Perdua Bezza have VSA feature.

Yess..stage 1 was front struct bar + rear anti roll (19mm)

For deeper scratch you'll need to paint it 3times layer after layer, I am using it for my white city

At last I booked modern steel E spec by topping up 4k.. Somehow feel the 4k extra is worth to spend as VSA might be a life saving feature and with the 4k extra I do enjoy extra accessories, features and better look meter..

Hey guys, anyone here done for coating? Doing research for making coat for my car.
Seirra Glow SG-5 with warranty 5 years / Pomponazzi 880-X with warranty 3 years. Price same for both. Which one is better? Or anyone has done from either these 2 above? Thanks.

Still can use your internet once connected to ezcast? Cuz it's a wifi dongle right? After using this don't have to use hdmi cable?
it connects via wifi-direct, u still need to on ur hp wifi to detect the dongle. u can still use ur hp own network for data while u r driving. so u can use waze etc. it connects to the hdmi port and uses a usb port for power. thus u need the hdmi bypass cable. else when u release handbrake, the hu hdmi port will be disable by default
Hello guys, I'm considering city as my next car. Between S+ and E spec. Which one should I choose. E spec have more electronic accessories than S+. Will it give me headache later on, is there any issues with the electronics, push start button, aircond etc?

Ok Thanks for the info. Yes indeed E spec meter more cun for me. But to consider amount of money need to add up for monthly installment. Also seems VSA is left out in S+. What is ESS Btw?

Is worth to add up the 4k, either by topping up down payment or loan from bank the extra 4k, but need to top up around 50 for monthly instalment. Or u can top up 2k and loan extra 2k from bank then the monthly instalment will only increase by 20+.. I just book my E spec yesterday by top up 2k myself and loan extra 2k from bank..
May I know whether the spare tyre space of city able to fit the original size tyre in? Coz the temp tyre is really too small, in case tyre punctured on highway it would be quite dangerous to drive with the temp tyre.. I am thinking to buy a used 15' rim and tyre to put it as spare tyre...
Hi i am actually looking for honda city e spec.. wanna ask for opinion whether i should book my car during august or should i wait for year end sale.. hehe

may i know what phone you use to connect HU screen?
i can't set the resolution on the dongle, but from what i gather, the HU supports 720 resolution. the ezcast m2 dongle is supposed to support lower resolution, and i'm guessing it can auto-detect as i have no issue using it at home or in the car.
Planning to do coating on my new city with ecoat. They r offering me rm1688 for premium package S3 gloss coating which includes paint, dashboard, door panel, leather, windscreen, glass, headlight n tail lamp coating.

I paid them a visit last month ^^ but yet to decide when to do, their service looks promising too, beside that , whats the warranty period offered for your package ya ? thanks
Does you perform cable management as first post? Mind take some pic, and simple setup flow. I like to add to first post. 11. Proven HDMI Wi-Fi dongle work with HU (V spec only)

You need MHL cable as separate purchase. ** confirm your phone pin config **
nope, i didn't use mhl cable as my samsung s7 does not support mhl. i use the ezcast m2 wireless dongle, connects to my hp via wifi-direct and can still use handphone data network in the absense of a wifi network.
does this answer your question? because i'm not exactly sure what you mean by cable management...

Some member comment ChromeCast 2 able to work as well, i will try mine later.
anyone of you changed the remote's battery before? should i change it with Honda or can be changed just like any other remote control? thank you!
Once open battery you can see the type, all round. Can buy from ikea, mr DIY or common key shop. Never go SC center for things you can do yourself super easily unless you wanna get overcharged.

Haven't asked any details yet as i only ask for the quotation price. If all okay then will go for the coating by next month. You got the same price or cheaper?
Is there a way to disable the front passenger airbag, in case if I want to place a baby seat there? Some cars got a button to turn off front passenger airbag. City can or not?
Guys, anyone having a a hard time honking the horn on the steering wheel? I feel that my steering wheel's position is a little off centered.
If off centered, adjust the steering wheel height and distance maybe?

to be honest, i have not seen any cars which can disable airbag function. i think u can still place it in the front, jus normal with the chair facing the front. front seats don't have the ISO fix too, probably not the best place to put baby seats

If u check your car manual, it stated Honda city has a disable airbag switch in the passenger seat BUT not Honda City's in Malaysia.

Shall be cheaper a little if not mistaken but not including some interior care unlike quotation u got, mainly exterior part only, I personally think can go for a try lar, pricing wise and feedback from user, you shall pay them a visit, i went to ss2 branch, quite small shop but adequate to park few cars

No, it is totally not safe to put child car seat in passenger seat even if it is forward facing.

city for months? so hot selling? how much cash rebate they offer for August?
actmar klang told me 3-4 weeks For august "merdeka promotion" is low interest rates or 7k for jazz or 5k for city. I think better than raya prmotion.
I saw the promotion ads? nothing extra from the SA? normally u get more from SA pocket right? like last month is 4k but heard someone been offered for 6k?

Yeah from ad in honda website. My SA only give RM500 due to my family use honda (accord, city). Thats all, no free give or whatsoever.
^u have a good SA. Mine took almost 1 & a half month
Got in 8 days. Of course no trouble with loan approval...and that's including plate transfer from old car via runner which the honda agent employs.
Maybe due to closing of financial year of 2015/2016 at 31 August. Maybe your SA reached quota and want hold you off until next month. Whatver it is, very shitty deal you got here mate.
I have just booked the E Spec City. Any recommendation for new HU? Stock tyres Ok ?? Any ideas how long until i receive my car?
Initially wanted to change this and that but after driving for several months and got a few dent here and there, i dont bother to change the rims, tyres and bodykit. Just use the money for maintenance. I am quite ok with the stock tyres. If i sell it and upgrade, i rugi la since is still new. Just make sure u deflat the tyres when u get your car. And always pump the tires every few weeks.

Ikr. On top of that, only 6.6k rebate and a Full tank. Thats it. Really shitty indeed.
PS: car still not here yet.
It is MH Prestige Auto if anyone is interested. Avoid it if you want.

the guy at the tyre shop recommended wider tyre for better stability when driving fast.. n according to him it does not affect fuel consumption.. or probably its not so significant on the FC difference..
Sifus....My coolant level in the Reservoir is a little bit above the MIN level meter when the engine is cold. Do I need to top it up? I am travelling from Penang to KL and do not have the type 2 coolant with me.

Yes please top up with Honda Coolant Type II or distilled water only until Max level when engine is cold...
Don't use tap water, mineral water, filtered water, alkaline water, etc... Unless it is an emergency then only use...
Hi sifus, u guys change tyre at what mileage? i am still using stock tyre 35k mileage
This question very subjective. Some people drive like F1 everyday or never do rotation or never keep tyres properly inflated can't even last 40k km. Some people jaga tyres properly and don't drive like the road is their racing track can keep tyres good up to 60k km.
Key is to monitor your own tyre maintenance management and ur driving habits. Also some tyres are more durable than others. My stocks lasted me 50k km.
the longer i drive the more i feel the car underpower hmm.. especially during going up hill, hard to control and maintain constant speed, its either power dropping when maintain rpm or over revolve if step pedal harder

Hi guys, sorry i don't own a City yet but would like to enquire. Is it worth going for the Merdeka Promotion? Is it better then the Raya promotion? Or should i wait for year end prom? Planning to get before CNY comes basically lol. Planning to get a S+ spec originally, how about E? Is it really worth the upgrade?
Or should i rather use that money to add modulo kit? (cause honestly the modulo kit looks sick )
Thanks in advance!

The least u can get during raya promo was 5k. Exclusive of agent rebate. So you can start from there to know if merdeka promo better or not.
E spec is obviously worth the upgrade. The safety feature u get vs the module kit u add. Which one could be life saving?
The battery is under recall list, before this already call Honda CS 3-4 times, the answer is only wait wait wait.....
No choice, call the HIP hotline for help, they only able call Tow/Technician coz it already after 5pm (SC closed)
Tmr, need call HIP again to jump start then direct drive to SC for exchange battery...
Will update again tmr.
That's the damn problem with Honda Malaysia. How many months already and I still haven't received the letter yet. And my car is going to be 2 years old soon. Have to wait until battery KO?
Hmm thanks for the reply guys! Ill def go for the E spec then the body kit cause as mentioned, body kit can get any time. How about the maintenance though after driving out from the Honda place. Will there be any problem with Honda City in a normal circumstance for the next 50k km for example? Any problem arise so far? Anything should i be aware of? (Besides the normal checking water, black oil, etc)

i just called Honda Actmar to arrange appointment to change battery. I told them that my car random cannot start and i havent receive the letter yet. They said they can only check the battery condition using battery tester. If the battery is ok, they will not change the battery unless we have a letter. Dmn..

I think your agent showing how to disable the immobelizer alarm in event somebody try to jack your car. i dont think your key will disable the alarm. You should know the combination press to disable it. Or if dunno, check one of the book that comes with your car manual. just tell them the combination. if they're old school, write on paper the step by step how-to press.
Hi all, anyone encounter same issue as me, where by when u start your car there is "wung wung" sounds. This happen when engine cool off like first thing in the morning..and the sound less than 10 seconds..Can refer to this youtube for the sound..Your help is much appreciated..Cheers.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IIVLLM6afsQ&feature=youtu.be
Hi ALL, my city having battery recall also, but during my 20k service, i ask SC regarding the recall, while i didnt get my letter yet. The SC check the VIN number for recall confirmation and help me change a new battery, even though the old battery after battery check is under 100% health.
The SC i went is in Chai Leng Park, Penang, Motoria Service Center..

Hi all, just got my city. Mind to share how you guys remove the door edge black sponge? Just use force to pull it off or just wait it to fall by itself? SA told me to wait for 2 weeks and it will fall by itself... is that the best way without leaving any glue mark? Thanks

Pull it off and use wax to clean away the glue residue... WD40 also can but need to wash clean after...
Wow.. still need to take so long to deliver? They think they send from Japan izzit?
Have to admit their efficiency is really bad. But I am grateful that they had finally called me and the letter is coming to my house soon ^^ Finally get to change the battery and no need to worry about it ^^
Install head unit and fog lamp wont void your warranty??
Head unit will be installed by Honda SC before I collect my car. As for fog lamp I'll install at workshop outside and they told me it is plug & play only. I also abit worried on warranty issue but a few colleague already installed.
Hi all, i just updated to ios 9.3.3. Does anyone has issue that ipod mode will not recognize your iphone? Bluetooth works fine. Usb cable doesnt work. Does Apple kill Honda City 2014 dock connector on ios 9.3.3?

Tell you something... Honda SC don't install 3rd party HU and reverse camera... It's the SA bring outside to install for you... Anything not install from factory is void warranty jor... Alway believe what your SA tells you with a pinch of salt... Not 100%...
Make sure outside install is really plug and play... No wires cut... If not will void warranty...

It seems so but what choice do I get where it is still better let the SC to install instead of I get someone out there to do it I searched from mudah.my there are ppl selling fog lamp & claiming that it is plug & play only.. I have asked my SC & he only willing to install HU, wing spoiler & tinted film, ntg else..
Yessssh.. the modulo spoiler does not attract me much.. The modulo bodykit set with wing spoiler looks much better but I skip all the skirting coz I don't want to see them breaking apart due to bloody road condition around kl/pj..

450 for that spoiler is too much, you can get it at 250+- outside, just go ask around that spoiler are actually part of the honda's modulo kit in thailand, it's just that HM replace it with the ducktail spoiler

Is it?! omg.. but if I do it outside it will involve drilling/ wiring.. safe to do so? Any brand you recommend for pedal lock?

It's actually not the SC who is going to install it... The SA actually brings it out of Honda SC and get an accessories shop to install it for you... You pay more it also as you need to pay for the SA's commission and all... Look for accessories shop yourself and you'll save $ to install something else...

You let SA do will be the same... All need to drill holes and do wiring... All done at accessories shops... It's the same... Only difference is you pay more as the SA will earn from this also... And they earn a lot!

go to a more reputable shop lor, pedal lock can get Locktech one, from thailand, 350+-

I believe so, I have questioned him before I confirmed the purchase & he said he did not earn commission Yeah we all know what to trust what not to The main difference is the HU provided by SC will have 1yr warranty with 1 to 1 exchange, as far as I know accessories shop outside won't offer this. Secondly, if the spoiler is provided by the SC any warranty issue I can liaise with him, if I do it outside I can save some money & hope ntg will happen otherwise he will definitely show me his face color

Haha not to say who is worth trusting who is not.. it is about decision making, take the chance - save some money - be prepared if encounter warranty issue.. or just liaise with 1 person, let him settle the accessories issue + warranty issue.
I have been considering all these before the purchase and I am still thinking now based on the info that I've got. Appreciate everyone's sharing!
Locktech sounds great for me, thanks for the tips. Any recommendation for 'reputable shop'? Hingan auto?
Hingan Auto is Authorized Honda Stockist... You can get original Honda parts here cheaper than SC...

Pigs will fly if your SA really 100% no earn your commission
Anyway it's up to you if you go ahead and let your SA do it for you and if anything happens you cannot go back to the SC but the SA instead.
As I know SC will not install 3rd party stuffs for you as this is not according to HM SOPs.

A famous saying of Taeng9389 Scared warranty void, don't mod anything. Want to mod, don't give a shit about the warranty.

need a door visor? mana yg murah dan lawa? can somebody help me?
tumpang tumpang.. need a door visor also.. got fren told me outside may not be prefect fitting so he recommended me to get it from Honda.. RM392.. i havent though.. would like to hear from the bros here.. see got any better recommendation..
Plan to change e spec stock tyre. Is 195/55/15 suitable or other sizes? What brand would you guys recommend other than xm2.
Thanks.
185/60/15 is the closest to 175/65/15 size..
I'm using 195/55/15 now after my stocks have worn off. To me, it's ok but maybe for others not so. Using goodyear assurance triplemax. Wanted to try xm2 but shop recommended me this. Silent, grip in wet is quite decent. But still relatively new tyres at <10k km..maybe early next year the silent ride won't be there anymore

i'd rather buy some rando oem ones at 150+-, at least for that price, if broke off, it wouldn't hurt so much

the sound is like something loose on the suspension in both rear tyre..i suspect it came from within the boot area or the upper area of the rear tyres..have u raise this issue to the service centre?

i did, drove the car around while the service manager look for the source of the sound, end up telling me to check on my rear wing (i've got a big ass gt wing at the back)
someone mentioned checking the rear seat catch a while ago, sprayed some wd-40 into it a couple days back, so far, haven't heard the noise yet, i guess that's the source of the sound
anyone wrapped their seat to leather? how much does it cost on hows the quality? mind to share some pictures and feedback..?

I thought changing leather seat is changing the entire seating & not just wrap with leather cover?
If you're getting the V spec with 6 airbags, please do not change the seat covers. There are airbags for the front seat and the existing seat covers are design to break when the airbags are deployed.
Soon-to-be E-Spec city owner. Need to learn a lot of things.
1. Been thinking replacing the HU to V-spec. If that happen, will the audio steering control works? What about HDMI in port? E spec has no HDMI port.
2. Number of speakers in e spec is 4. But could anyone advise me the location of that 4 speakers... i believe its 2 mid and 2 tweeter at front door. And if i were to install rear speaker, is the wiring is ready?

mine sounded like this
mine are not like that..mine is only when i go through drain cover, loopholes then i can hear the knocking sound on the rear tyres..it is like the suspension knocking on some metal stuff..i even tried putting down the rear seats when driving but the sound is still there..i got this issue since a year ago..it just came out of sudden..i saw some members saying that is the alarm device at the boot that makes the sound..but i didn't go to the service centre yet..sometimes the sound is there sometimes it is not..it is so weird

I didn't know E spec dashboard side there is plastic while the V had it in leather stitching.
Leather? U mean soft touch instead of hard plastic for the passenger side dash? Ya....its stated e spec dun have. Leather stiched steering and gear shift knob also exclusive for v spec.

Yea, fortunately can be modded. Haha
Btw any E spec owner installed fog lamps? It seems the wiper stalk also need to change...
Guys..did anyone have send car to SC for the battery recall? Mind to share which SC willing to change it? Bcos i went to Glenmarie SC and they give some bullshit excuse and ask to wait letter from Honda. Wtf??

U can forget about Actmar Klang coz they cannot change unless u have a letter or they tested your battery is not in good condition. I think someone mentioned here that he manage to change battery without the letter however the SC is in Penang.

Hi guys, I just booked City E spec, under the Merdeka promo, which sounds like a good deal. First choice color is Red Ruby, but now I'm torn between that and White which looks nice as well besides the fact that it makes the car look bigger. Just want to ask you guys' opinion on Red vs. White.
Secondly, is there any checklist available that I can go through when picking up my car, specific for Honda City E spec?
Thirdly, is there anything else that I need to be aware of, or check with my SA, or just anything important regarding the car?
recently noticed that my car (pedal and steering) vibrates very mild during high speed 120kmh and above. The vibration is like a rhythm 2sec ON 2sec OFF.
Did balancing during 10k, 14k, 15k on wheel balancing. Still no improvement.
Brought car to SC to check, basically they blame my stock tyres.. current mileage is 15k
dont know what else can be a problem - bearing, shock absorber, etc

Ruby red in my opinion is not a nice color. (This is subjective to different people.) Unless it is the color of mazda's soul red then it would have been my color of choice. I'd prefer the blue over the ruby red. Why they changed the blue to ruby red is beyond me. No one buys the blue was the reason but no one buys the red one as well. White really makes the car look bigger than it is....but white cars are harder to manage. But If I were you I would take the White over ruby red anytime.

Thanks for your input. Still on the fence on this one. Ruby Red for me looks nice and distinctive on the City, and red being still relatively rare color on the road makes it better. But it does make the car appear smaller and somewhat "cartoonish" and "toyish". White as you said, looks elegant, but harder to maintain. If I chose White, is coating recommended?

I don't see the appeal of coating and its just a B segment car. Coating is 1k++ Not too sure worth the investment or not. As i heard you still need to wash it regularly and its not scratch proof either.

Okay, thanks again for the feedback. Might not invest in coating for now. Hope I will make a good decision on the color!

Hi all sifus want to ask does you all encounter some rattling noise during slow speed and high speed like above 120 km/h there's a humming noise you can hear and feel from steering as the speed increase ?

I was told by my SA that will receive car around this week. Regarding car tint my SA didnt give tint just voucher RM200. I asked from Penang ecotint for raybarrier 4 price around RM2100 but honda price for tinting is much cheaper RM1500. Is that normal??

I bought the original multi angle reverse camera from Honda Thailand via Hingan Auto... Quite useful when parking tight places... But will cost you rm1.3k now...
Xiaoyi dashcam is the best budget dashcam if you can get for below rm200 from lazada, gemfive or 11street...
If you want discreet dashcam can look at A118C or A119... You can read my reviews on dashcams... Link in my signature...
