Battery life probably would be sub par for the vanilla and deluxe with only 3Ah. Not sure about ultra though.
Hopefully these will get android N when it arrives.

Zenfone 3 no longer using Intel, the battery life will be much much better than previous any Zenfone phone that using Intel.

Zenfone 3 Deluxe using Snapdragon 820 and AMOLED, the 3,000 mAh shall be enough for a daily or two driven.

I believe they did not ditch Intel, rather Intel withdrew from the mobile cpu world. Intel cpus were cheaper due to them being "subsidized" by Intel. Yet despite the fact, the market didn't actually caught on fire - even though zenfone (original) and zenfone 2 were quite a hot seller.

true, they're using SD625 until 820. however, the screen grew to 5.5 and 1080p (from original zenfone 5.0 and 720p). I believe this would negate the battery growth from 2100 to 3000 mAh - despite SD is more power efficient than the Atom 2580.

I am currently using Vibe Shot, with a 2900 mAh battery and 5" 1080p screen on SD615. For my main usage pattern, this phone does not last a day without charging in between. It is still better than my Zenfone 5, which required twice charging. This leads me to believe that the next Zenfone will not do better than my VibeShot

(my trick is now to use 2 phones, so I can last until the next day with one of them).

Asus was by far the largest customer for intel on mobile and started moving to qualcomm before intel basically gave up. Bled too much $$$

wise move asus by using super amoled and not joining the 2k screen bandwagon.3000 mah with 1080p i think should be enough to go through the office hours with single charge.cant wait for the z3 deluxe.

True that. I would skip this tablet entirely, got one too many tablet at home (1KK, 1MM, and 1W10 – not to mention my laptop is 2in1 Dell XPS12-9250).
Anyway, I don’t need S7 level for camera. If it’s as good as my VibeShot, it’s good enough for me. If it’s superior, then even better. I reserve the best camera for my waifu, so that she can take pics of our children better (stay at home mom gets more time with the children, hence more chances to take pics)

Upon closer inspection... camera looks not bad at all. Launch time is quite slow ( early sw perhaps) but exposure looks brighter compared with my S7.

I remember the Zenfone low light photo was like 4MP quality last year?

I'm pretty interested on the Ultra... so i can use it as my secondary phone, apart from my company phone...
if the price is reasonable i might give it a go... is just Mi Max and Ultra...

AFAIK it was 1/4 from original size.

The deluxe edition is AMOLED screen. Based on Samsung AMOLED phone which is some more QHD and can last a day. So I believe Asus shall able to make it.

Finally we are into Type-C USB era.

I think the main issue is how they design the insides. Zenfone design are outsourced to shenzhen design houses now.

Ya hope Asus can improve this.

I actually ok with my zen2,
so hearing them going to sd SOC..
its a great improvement for asus,
just hoping their update can be to android n, since sd is easier to work with.

I have this belief that Asus will update their zenfone (the main lot, especially) at least to the next android version. Now that they use SD, this should be even more true.
(iirc, my zenfone 5-intel was updated from JB to KK then to L)

Its hard to judge comparing only on phone screen but for sure its miles ahead of the zf2. Autofocus is still slow and no improvements on camera launch time. Feel on the hand definitely miles ahead.

if zenfone 3 deluxe price is 2k it will be great win for all. with 6gb ram.
choosing a good smartphone to buy nowadays is really a headache.

Main point is Zen 3 Deluxe the spec ohwai nice. Damn love the new design on the body it self looks very premium.

zenphone 3 ultra vs xiaomi maxx!

according to Wikipedia, SD625 is built on 14nm process, has up to 8 A53 cores complemented with Adreno 506.
SD650 & 652 has a combination of A72 cores and A53 cores, while the GPU is Adreno 510.
So yeah, for sure it will be slower than the rest (it's vanilla, after all)
Anyway, if Asus holds true to its nature, there will be other variations of ZF3. Maybe a Max version, Lite version, Go, Selfie, etc.

Should be priced max at 1.5k

Then can give even the mi5 and OP3 run for money

2k is a bit too expensive, perhaps a 64 gb or 128 gb storage will come with cheaper pricing

256gb for smartphone is excessive in my opinion, it's not a laptop. Don't need so much space.

After 1 or 2 years, you will need larger RAM when the APPs getting larger. But if u change your hp frequently, then 3-4GB should be more than enough.

Yes, actually this is exactly my thinking. my upgrade schedule is around 2 years. so by the time i actually need more ram, i assume it's already time to upgrade anyway.
right now, i am using my phone for messaging (includes calls/video calls over internet), browsing, and streaming audio. sometimes i do open MS-office documents, but very rarely i edit them.
no gaming. at all.
so i don't need 4gb ram right now
but this is not to say i wont go for it if it's priced reasonably. nor am i saying this kind of spec is no use, cause surely there will be people that require them, that actually can use its full potential.

At first I thought the standard ZF3 is also overpriced especially when compared to RN3. However, checking back the specs sheet, they include 2.5D display, usb type C, Sony IMX298 sensor + OIS, oh well, it's sound good. Maybe I should consider to buy one later.

Oh btw, Asus didn't mentioned fast charging for the standard ZF3. Really hope that they don't drop this feature.

Maybe for the normal variant it would be about from RM 1000/1050. Ultra maybe RM 2000. Deluxe RM 2100. Note that the prices are only my approximation and can be lower or higher.

And as a side note, hope there's any Zenfone 3 that will be cheaper although I do root for the Deluxe.

Giving their history with ZF2 4gb that are released RM300 cheaper(RM1039 later become RM1300++), this might be possible.

I dont need the 6gb ram version because it will be useless, the phone wont be able to fully utilize the 6gb ram like in the OP3. Maybe its because of the OP3 memory management, but this clearly show that 6gb ram is not exactly better than 4gb ram.

in term of ram performance, a 6gb ram wont perform as dual-channel because it will be in 4gb+2gb arrangement. Unless someone make a dual 3gb ram and put it in OP3.

Also the SD820, 821 & 823 variant wont differ much anyway, a slight bump on the processor speed thats all. Its not like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 upgrade from Mediatek to SD which makes a lot of difference.

The only flaw I see in this phone is the 3000 mAh battery, which is a minimum standard for today's phone. Now all I can do is wait until August and see what the reviews will say.

If we buy from other retailers (such as Lazada and so on), will we be able to claim warranty through that retailer? I mean, is this a (slightly) better way to deal with warranty issues?

I have had two Asus phones, Zenfone 5 and also Fonepad Note 6. I also had asus NV56 laptop at one time (sold off to get dekstop). So far I did not encounter any quality issue that required me to call on warranty. So, the quality impression/experience for me is good so far. The ZF3 price might be too good to not consider... for me, at least.
