Squat is the 'core' exercise for leg,if not the entire body. I love squat,I love training legs. I find it strange and funny,gym rats who pumps thier upper body,big 18 inch guns,but dare not to wear shorts in the gym.
You want to know why? Because they have 'chicken legs'. In the changing room,when the change, you can see how skinny and undeveloped thier legs are.
It is not only a sore eye,but also a risk,to them,just like a an overweight or obese person,they tend to have knee problem,same for gym-rats who only do upper body and ignore the lower body.

Apart from www.bodybuilding.com, Muscle&Fitness has always been a very good reference not only for weights training technique's,but also dieting,recipe,tips etc.
Buy it every month,subscribe to it.
Body building is sports compared second to none,if you're a golfer,nobody knows you're a golfer unless you're on the green,just like if you're a tennis player. Body building is sports you 'put on' 24x7.365,you wear it on you. The sports is not only an end to itself, it is also a sports which supports other sports. It can be a sports on its own like Mr Asia,Mr Universe etc and it helps other sports too like NFL players for example, even our local badminton team does weight training. Check out Tiger Woods, he's a believer of weights training to improve the distance in his swing.
Badminton players are known to do lots of squat exercise. This is to improve their jump smash ability.
