For HSBC, I would say yes, cancel before AF is charged. Else the pain is never ending.

Yes, no point stressing yourself to deal with them. Been there, done that, not gonna repeat again.

Guess they are targetting "pemium" customers only.

Even though I fulfill their income requirement, I won't apply again as it has no interesting cards. So nothing to lose actually if one cannot qualify.

TBH, the cards are kinda meh for me as well; was kinda planning on cutting one of the existing cards, but got installment plan to pay off first. Sigh.

The only reason I still keep my HSBC VS is for Apple Pay but I am considering other options now

SCB is out as their app is just horrible

It is OK, once you pay off then can cancel it.

SCB I also cancelled its Journey card recently. As for Apple Pay, my main cards are still from Maybank. Waiting for HLB to implement into Apple Pay too.

Their card is good for lounge access though. One of the reasons why I am still keeping it. But will cancel the VS due to the AF.

They are going to loose many customers. But I guess their business focus has changed. If you are one that is likely to cancel due to the fees, then you are not their target customer they want to retain. Minimum income requirements have changed too. It’s flat across all card types. Annually over 100k.

What will happen to my points if I cancel my HSBC CC? Will I still get to keep and use them? For how long?

The moment you cancel your card, whatever points tied to a card will be cancelled/forfeited.
