Just login wz the u/n & passwd ... then go to
Home tab ----> Quick connect
1. Choose PPoE LLC
2. Disabled Bridged
3. Put Streamyx username & passwd

Submit the above setting ---> go Commit & Reboot the modem

is auto-login = auto-connect in startup??
if the answer is "Yes", then you are in wrong place
coz, auto connect is not in modem configuration section

Hi, I was wondering if theres anyone able to help me out on the riger db102 modem/router.

I have this riger db102 modem/router which I would like to disable the router feature and set it to manual dialing to work with a belkin wireless router. So belkin will be sending command to dial in the modem. The problem is, I've disabled bridge and dhcp and still not working, was wondering if anyone could help me out.

hi guys / gals, need some help here. my DB 102 setting somehow got completely erased after i reset the modem.
the HOME page shows no WAN interface detected, so i checked on the ATM VC and there is only one aal5-0 VCI=16. so i add aal5-1 VCI=35 to go online.
the problem is : i dont know bout the other settings, NAT translations, etc. does anyone happens to have the complete stock settings for DB 102 ? thanks.

btw, called and emailed TM custcare last week already.

some kind of modem will make problem if using router mode,
like linksys am300,

so depends to the model of modem and the firmware,
and also the hardware inside.

how u reset the button??
and how do you know that u can't reset it?
some modem need to wait while press button about 10 seconds

if you want to use your modem to be pppoe mode, just set it back,
insert the username and password
vpi=0
vci=35

enable nat
enable dhcp server.

Just a word of caution, don't ever reboot the modem with clear settings. It'll brick your modem

Is DB102 a modem only or a modem/router?

In other words, if I have more than 1 PC do i need 2 buy a switch only or a router & a switch?

It means that your modem could not sync with the DSLAM(exchange). Have you got yours and waiting for activation? If yes, then you need to wait until they activate your line .. otherwise, something went wrong with your line (or you don't use the filter) ..

so u need to buy switch with 5ports or more ports to support for 5 users,
and your modem should be in router mode(pppoe mode)

just for example..

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx 1.0Mbps
Location: Serdang
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: not yet

Personal equipment
Modem: RIGER DB102 included in the package
Router: Aztech WL730RT4
Firewall used: just Windows Firewall

Problem details
First occurence of problem:
Problem frequency:
Problem description:

The problems goes like this, i just subscribe to the new package for streamyx 1.0Mbps last week, i ask for the technician to come to install and set the modem for me as i hv zero knowlegde in networking and there fly rm88 out of my pocket cry.gif

yesterday i bought a new wireless router (Aztech WL730RT4) and thinking that i can save some money by setting the router by myself, i tried to do so this morning by reading the manual given but i failed..what do u expect from a guy who hv no knowlegde of networking huh tongue.gif

then i tried to change the setting for the modem hoping that it would work after that but of course it wont work huhuhu, my biggest mistake here is that i forgot to make the backup for the modem configuration before i mess it up, and now the problem is worse bcos i cant connect to internet even directly connecting to the modem without using the router.

can you guys help me out here icon_question.gif ...maybe some of u guys have the modem configuration file (*.cfg) pls send it to me..or if u can teach me how to set it up manually even better..i hope to solve the problem with my modem first then later maybe u guys can help me to set up the router thumbup.gif

thanx guys

Broadband provider
ISP/package: Streamyx 1.0Mbps
Location: Serdang
Have you called your ISP's helpline?: not yet

Personal equipment
Modem: RIGER DB102 included in the package
Router: Aztech WL730RT4
Firewall used: just Windows Firewall

Problem details
First occurence of problem:
Problem frequency:
Problem description:

The problems goes like this, i just subscribe to the new package for streamyx 1.0Mbps last week, i ask for the technician to come to install and set the modem for me as i hv zero knowlegde in networking and there fly rm88 out of my pocket  cry.gif

yesterday i bought a new wireless router (Aztech WL730RT4) and thinking that i can save some money by setting the router by myself, i tried to do so this morning by reading the manual given but i failed..what do u expect from a guy who hv no knowlegde of networking huh  tongue.gif

then i tried to change the setting for the modem hoping that it would work after that but of course it wont work huhuhu, my biggest mistake here is that i forgot to make the backup for the modem configuration before i mess it up, and now the problem is worse bcos i cant connect to internet even directly connecting to the modem without using the router.

can you guys help me out here  icon_question.gif ...maybe some of u guys have the modem configuration file (*.cfg) pls send it to me..or if u can teach me how to set it up manually even better..i hope to solve the problem with my modem first then  later maybe u guys can help me to set up the router  thumbup.gif

thanx guys

This modem is somehow low cost plastic garbage. It can't handle 2 and more PC. On routing mode if 1 of the PC using high bandwidth program, browsing dead. Timeout and even can't go to modem configuration. Nice piece of garbage Telekom!. What's odd is that at nat rule entry it will auto portward to an application. Like torrent, i guess that make it crazy.

haha
quite agree... sweat.gif

now having this problem
the solution seen like juz have to make your 2 pc online with bridging mode only... sweat.gif
and it really like what you said, sometimes cant go to the modem configuration page...

there is auto portforward??
i think it is becoz you had tick the "Enable UPnP port mapping (Windows XP Only)" in the BitComet Preferences (assume that you are using BitComet)

First, go to http://192.168.1.1/
In the username and password field, key in "tmadmin" without the quote mark
(assume that you haven't change the username and password)

Second, go to WAN (or Routing) > PPP
you will see PPP configuration at there

3rd, Press "Add"
at the "PPP Interface - Add" > "Security Information"
key in your streamyx username and password
Submit

after that, refresh the PPP configuration page by press the "Refresh" at there until the "Oper. Status" show "Link Up"

Optional (in "PPP Interface - Add" )
1. You can enable the DHCP if you want
2. You can also enable the DNS too as you like

Thank you for your reply. However, I can't seem to make the "Oper. Status" to show Link Up. Instead, it's showing Link Down. Here are my questions:
1. What does this mean?
2. What should I do next after getting it to show Link Up (if ever..)?

Thanks in advance!

1. What does this mean?
it mean you cant connect with routing mode, either becoz of username and password incorrect... or maybe you aledi connected... or the worst... dc
1. you enter the right username and password??
2. are you online with bridging mode now?? disconnect first before you want to make your modem connect automatically

2. What should I do next after getting it to show Link Up (if ever..)?
nothing to do, juz open the IE or Firefox directly, and type http://forum.lowyat.net/ biggrin.gif

I'm querying on behalf of my friend.

He signed up the Streamyx SuperDeals and got the Riger DB102 adsl modem.

We managed to change the Standard Modulation from "Multimode" to "ADSL2+" at the command prompt. But how on earth to force the "Connected Standard" from "G.dmt" into "ITU G.992.5" (aka ADSL2+)?

Another thing is how to ENABLE the "Boost Data" parameter?

This modem is freaking slow, it's like they downgraded the modem or something. Tested with 2 similar modem.

Hi guys, i just subscribed to streamyx few days ago using the "in-a-box" 1Mbps package. I let it run a few days and normal HTTP web surfing is fine and smooth.

Now, I'm trying to do some portforwarding following the step-by-step guide shown in www.portforward.com. However, after i've done all the steps and reboot the modem, results still show that the port has not been forwarded (using utorrent speed guide).

Is there any way to check if the Riger DB102 has been properly port forwarded? Or am i missing any steps?

Thanx. icon_question.gif

reboot the modem??
why you reboot the modem??
you should click "commit" at the "Admin > Commit & Reboot part
reboot the modem without "commit" will make your modem go back to previous state

That's what the process flow in portforward.com states. First, click "Commit", then click "Reboot". Is this wrong on their part?

Yes, that is what i assume too.

But using Utorrents speed guide, (Options > Speed Guide > Test if port is forwarded properly), it says that my port doesnt appear to be open. How come?

another reason might be the firewall...
please make sure you have allow the µTorrent traffic in firewall
or make sure the port that your µTorrent used is allow

then how is the speed??
is it slow when you connected to many Malaysian peer??

if your speed didnt slow down, then it should be the µTorrent test port function got problem...
else, then try reset the modem, port forward again
and MUST click "Commit" in "Commit & Reboot" (most important. so that your setting will be save in the modem)

Riger db102 - did a reboot after settings and now I can't connect to the modem, ping it or even reset it. Only the power and pc lights are on. Bricked? I don't know if I might have accidentally used other reboot options.. but should be able to reset? Never had such problems with other modems before icon_question.gif Any advice?

Its the "in-a-box" package.. might try to request for a modem change from tmnet sad.gif

try reset
once reset, all the option will be reset
so, i think the safest way is to reset

if after reset still have problem
then ask for exchange

last time i spoil a Aztech 600 (eu or er?? aledi forgot)
by change the firmware, and still got a modem exchange

why?? becoz the technician dunno anything...
i juz say "try change the modem"
then he try on this rubbish... everything fix since that

for me, this modem is easy to config only
nothing more pros
and if got anything wrong, i can reset back to previous stage...

if cant reset, then the only way is to exchange only

the modem/router will connect itself after you set it connect by PPPOE
it mean even you have no computer open (as long as the modem/router open)
it is aledi connected to internet...

and of coz, all the pc can online if you set like that
and no matter which pc is turn off, other pc still can online

manual dial-up but got router function??
kidding??

but what i did is use bridging mode (manual dialup) on 2 pc
the condition is the 2pc MUST connect at the same time
else, 1 pc can connect, the other will be error 691
need much time to do it if you get the wrong timing...

you MUST dial in bridging mode
and if you want 2 pc or more to online in the same time with bridging mode
you have to make all the pc "dial" at the same time

anyone know how to change the operation mode (GDMT/T1.413/G.Lite) in this modem?

searched through the web configuration but i cant find any option regarding it.

in the modem stats shows my connection is about 1.5mbps but the speed i really get is like 512k while in the G.DMT mode.

so i think that changing the mode will make a difference.

anyone?

try connect with bridging mode first
but if you cant even login to the modem
then reset first, and try to login again
else, try to unplug the DSL line
else... smash this modem and ask for a new one...

i jus got this modem few days ago. i've done according to below:
Go and click at the WAN Tab and click at PPP.

Set the new interface as:

* PPP interface = 0
* ATM VC = aal5-0
* Protocol = PPoE
* Use DNS = enable
* Security = PAP

Don't forget to set your username as username@streamyx and also your TMNet Streamyx password. When done, click Submit.

Click on ATM VC and make sure interface are set as:

* aal5-0 VPI = 0
* VCI = 35
* MUX = LLC
* Max proto = 2

After that, click on Admin and then Commit and then Reboot.

At my mainpage, the operational status is yellow( Startup handshake). I've check PPP details under WAN, it got this
Oper. Status: Link Down
Last Fail Cause: VC down

any idea???

Modem: RIGER DB102
Router: Level One WBR-3406TX wifi router

Problem description:
1. I set the DB102 to PPPOE connection, and yes it can connect to internet, i can surf net no problem
2. I connect the DB102 to Wifi router (Level One WBR-3406TX, router IP=192.168.123.254). But then I only can access to wifi router page, 192.168.123.254, i am not able to access DB102 page 192.168.1.1, so I cannot to the internet cry.gif

Previously, I was using Aztech ADSL router modem, and with this same wifi router as well, after connected both ADSL and Wifi router, I can access both 192.168.123.154 and 192.168.1.1, then i can disconnect/reconnect streamyx in the 192.168.1.1

Recently my Aztech modem has gone(5 yrs old already), then i got this DB102, I wonder why the same PPPOE connection, with Aztech i have no problem, but with DB102, i cannot connect to Internet?
I think the Wifi router not able to connect with DB102, because in wifi page shown [Gateway: unreachable] cry.gif

What happen? something wrong with DB102? or with Wifi router??? cry.gif
Anyone can help me??? cry.gif

Hi, Does anyone here know how to update the firmware for Riger DB102 Modem?

I saw my friend with this modem with the lattest firmware and the connections is quite stable in his place compare to mine.

anyone know how to configure the modem - so i can block certain website by using the modem features such as NAT/IP filter?

lets say i want to block Rapidshare.com.

can somebody teach me how to do that? - i'll give more info about my network later.

The modem did not support blocking via domain name or regular expression. Only IP-based blocking is supported, and with the nature of rapidshare.com website, it will be hard to do.

I've installed my streamyx 1 month ago (RM77 1Mbps package).
they gave me a DB102 modem(made by TM) and i bought an Aztech wireless router(WL830RT4).. and we're using both LAN cable and wireless.
The modem now i using is the 3rd modem provided by a TM reseller(previous one all cant function after several days)
i having problem with frequent disconnection (the DSL light and Data light is ON) but the internet connection shows no respond..
msn keep disconnect(around every 10~30 minutes)
Have called 100 for assistance but nothing changed.
tried many ways that the operater tought me.. like not using spliter, direct connect, restarting modem, etc.

Anyone having same problem with me? or anyone know the solution?? Please help me.. Thanksss >.<
i enable bridged mode at the modem and PPPoE&DHCP at my router
1. What does DHCP relay and DHCP server means? will it affect my connections?
2. My SNR margin is 6db and 13db for local and remote and quite high on atten, do these value is making me dc?

thanks in advance.. having problem for 1 month already.. sad.gif

I think the SNR is the culprit for your problem. You may try complaining to the hotline and report about the SNR loss problem.

Whether the modem is in router or bridge mode, you should be able to access the web config.

Connecting Linksys WRT54G (with DDWRT) and DB102

This guide will enable you to access the Wireless Router (WRT54G) and your Modem (DB102). You'll then will be able to tweak your modem and router at the same time. The end result, You'll be able to access your router on 10.0.0.1 and your modem on 192.168.1.1

The problem most people have is that once you've connected the modem and router together, you are unable to access the modem configuration page. Since both of this device use the same IP address (192.168.1.1) to access the configuration page, you'll only be able to access the router configuration page only after everything is connected.

Steps We Will Be Taking
1. Configure router to be on a different IP
2. Add some settings to make things work
3. Configure Modem to be in Bridge mode
4. Connect things up

Step 1
Connect your PC to the router. (Please don't use wireless. Things get a bit funky. Use a network cable and switch off/disconnect your PC wireless). After you're connected, fireup your browser and type http://192.168.1.1 at the address bar and hit enter. You'll be presented with the login page. Login with your username and password. You're now at the router configuration page. At the main menu (Top of page) click Setup.
At Interner Setup > Internet Connection Type select PPPOE. Fill up Streamyx username and password. Now scroll down to Network Setup > Router IP > Local IP Address. Change it to 10.0.0.1. Save your settings at the bottom of page. Your router will now have an IP address of 10.0.0.1 so type http://10.0.0.1 in your browser tbefore proceeding to the next step.

Step 2
Now Scroll to top of page, Click Administration > Commands > Diagnostics > Command Shell. Paste the command below

ip addr add 192.168.1.3/24 dev vlan1 brd +

Click Save Startup. This will make the command run during startup. (Note: DB102 will give your router an IP address of 192.168.1.3)

Clear the command window and type paste these commands next.

/usr/sbin/iptables -I POSTROUTING -t nat -o vlan1 -d 192.168.1.3/24 -j MASQUERADE

Click Save Firewall.

You're done withe the router.

Step 3
Reset the modem. Connect your PC to the modem (Wired connection please!) In your browser, type http://192.168.1.1 and login. Click Home > Smart Config. Select Bridge Mode and click submit. Now Click Admin > Commit & Reboot. Click Commit. Click Reboot. Done

Step 4
Connect Modem to Router. Connect PC to router (Wired or wireless, doesn't matter now) Fireup browser.

Now you are setup like this

Router: 10.0.0.1
Modem: 192.168.1.1

Enter the address for the respective device and you'll have access to it.

Enjoy.

Guys...i think im facing the same prob wif u guys. Btw, im using 4mbps connection. Everytime when im using the internet, its like cant get data for 10 - 20 secs in every 10 - 15 mins, but it doesnt disconnected from streamyx. I can get ping from the internet but i jz cant receive the data. After so much of reading from this post, i guess its the "SNR" prob as u guys keep mentioning. How to solve this prob? jz call tmnut's and said thats SNR prob? What should i ask them to do? Its been bothering me for a month ++. sad.gif

SNR Value? The higher the greater rite? What is the reading of the normal connection?

If DDNS you mean services like no-ip.org then probably no.

The manufacturer website does not have it. So maybe they did not provide any firmware for this modem?

Depends on what you need.

If you just want to share the connection with a few computers, get a D-Link DSL-520T ADSL modem with router function and a switch for connecting multiple computers together and the modem.

There is also a ADSL modem/router with 4 LAN ports from D-Link (cannot remember the model) in this case you dont need buy a switch.

Either way, keep your DB102 in the store room.

If you want to set up your own wireless hotspot at home, get DSL-520T and a wireless router.

D-Link DSL-520T if u buy it from All IT Hypermarket in PJ Digital Mall, the price as of last week was RM88.

I am currently using D-Link DIR-300 Wireless Router. It works well so far, but I am not using any P2P. However, you gotta update the firmware to the latest 1.03 which was released 2 weeks ago. The default firmware 1.01 supplied is problematic, which is fixed in the 1.03 release. The price is around RM130.

In your Belkin router, you need to set up the PPPoE with your streamyx user & password, while your modem must be set in bridge mode.

Can this router modem support windows Vista? I am connecting this router modem to a switch to 6 PCs. All other Windows XP PCs have no problem. I am using vista home premium. I could connect and sometimes cannot connect. Does this means that the problem is with the router modem?

anyone know how to change the operation mode (GDMT/T1.413/G.Lite) in this modem?

searched through the web configuration but i cant find any option regarding it.

in the modem stats shows my connection is about 1.5mbps but the speed i really get is like 512k while in the G.DMT mode.

so i think that changing the mode will make a difference.

anyone?
*
oh so long ago, hehe.

Only thru telnet cli;
To change modulation,
modify dsl config t1413 /or modify dsl config gdmt /or modify dsl config glite

or modify dsl config multi ....this is autoselect.

after running a command make sure type "commit" to save then "reboot".
if lazy to reboot just, resync the line using stop start, whichever easier
"modify dsl config insertmodehere loop stop"
"modify dsl config insertmodehere loop start"

Some explanation;
T1413 and GDMT are the same standards, just from two different standards organization, lookup wiki for full info.
you wouldnt want to use GLITE, unless your connected to a RDSLAM, usually for wireless broadband, err wireless streamyx?? ...it will be slower if configured on landline, tried and tested.

On the other hand, your snr thing will improve around 10db if u switch to T1413 from GDMT, based on what i tried.
Snr are only issues if interference really affect ur line...otherwise dont bother...ive seen 8mb lines run just fine on quite bad snr's and attenuation's IMHE/O.

ur modem stat pic, showed connected at speed is correct 1472kbps ...just abit bit.....usually like this...if u subscribe for a 1.0m package, tm would configure the cap higher at 2048kbps ....so ur true real life usage speed would be sustained at a possible or near 1.0m ....mines a 1.0m package capped at 2048kbps....speedtest is around 800kbps++ ....so yeah its roughly a 1.0m besteffort...if not, if they configured round-round (bulat-bulat) at 1.0m, u will never get the "besteffort" speed.

Changing the modulation would help in getting clearer signals thru the line, help with snr and attenuation. speed?? not really. The modulation are for improving noise or echo cancellation ..interference's on the lines, me guess that does help perhaps.

oneany biggrin.gif hope this helps

problems with dc'ing all the time, read below. and the chipset used information inside the thread below.

First, you have to make your modem become auto-connect (connect by routing mode)
I have put it under the spoiler in first post... try check on it

After you connect by routing mode, you should have no problem for file sharing and connect to internet...

This means DSL problem. Maybe the line unable to support it which causes handshaking to fail. Try using G.dmt.

i hv a riger db-102 modem from tmnet, i set it up as a router and it works.

but the problem im having with this modem is:-

1. when turned off and switched it on again, all the setting will become lost and need to reconfigure again if want to use it as a router, else it will stay in bridging mode.
2. after a few hours use as a router, i cannot connect to the internet. need to turned it off and reconfigure again, then i can use the internet.

im sick of using this modem/router in a weird way. is there anything i can do to make all of these problems would not happen again?? sad.gif

  1. You haven't save your settings. You have to go to Admin > Commit & Reboot and click Commit after do the settings. Else, when you restart your modem, it will back to default configuration.
  2. That is the main problem of Riger DB102. It have routing mode issue. Therefore I don't recommend anyone to use routing mode. I have face it many times, and since that never use routing mode on this modem.

What I think good about this modem is that it is easy to configure and no heat issue...

But easily to modem hang, and cannot do well in routing mode.

After get into the router configuration page, go to WAN -> PPP
Click detail to see which account you connect

Click delete beside the PPP rule

If you don't want the PPP rules come back after close/reset the modem, then go to Admin -> Commit & Reboot and click Commit

If "link" light always blinking, it mean it is time you should call them (the TMNuts TMNet)

Data light should always blinking if you connected to internet (in bridging mode), but if it light out without blinking... In my experience, it hang already and you will either have very slow speed, or no speed at all...

The date light didn't lit but will only blink in an interval of time when you connect with bridging mode
Else, if it light on without blinking, then your modem are probably hang...

But in routing mode, I have forgot how is it... tongue.gif
If I'm not mistaken, it will light always with a blink on an interval of time (different from bridging mode)

If you only have good connection in night but not in morning, then it probably because of your area have lousy connection...

I cant access the modem page for some reason. I use belkin wireless G+ router MIMO and this modem. I can only access the belkin page. 192.168.1.1 doesnt work, I did a scan and yes it did showed up.

pinging the modem gives an average of 168ms. Is this normal? =\ I get lag spikes every so often and it seems like the modem is the source , if I read the ping report right.

After get yourself into the modem configuration page ( http://192.168.1.1 )
Go to WAN (or Routing) -> PPP
then remove the rules at there...

After that, don't forget to save your settings by go to Admin -> Commit & Reboot and click Commit.

Nope. It needs to be in routing mode aka it needs to act as a NAT Server. I don't recommend people to use this modem as a router , the chipset isnt suitable for heavy loading routing (i.e bit torrenting , online gaming and other stuff)

Just set it up manually instead of using the CD

Make sure your DB102 is set in Bridge mode instead of routing mode

bro, tried a few changes here and there, but looks like the default mode works better,
even default routing also ok ok only lah with a lot of ping timeouts.

the best long term solution is to set the modem as bridge and get another router to do the heavy stuff thumbup.gif

Select Smartconfig and select Bridge mode. Let it configure. Then save the settings and reboot !. It will be in bridge mode

This modem is terrible when you convert it into a router. But other then that its a superb modem

You'll have to configure your router to dial the connection. Otherwise it will be offline. Set it in the bridge mode (aka factory default) and configure the settings in your router or PC

my modem already used for around 7months (connect to desktop),
all the while is working fine.

when l try to connect to notebook, it is not working (but my desktop still can connect to internet)...
after that l reset the modem...the modem not respond at all...even my desktop also can not connect...

wondering is it modem already broken???

in my system view of riger db102 modem, show up a column with 510kpbs for speed and down column with 2047kbps for speed too. is it means that there's an 2mb coverage in my residential area? when the 1st time i subscribe to streamyx, it's only show 512kbps for up and 1024kbps for down. TQ.

Im confusing with this modem. This is my setup

[DB102:192.168.1.1]--->[WRT54GL:192.168.2.1]--->[PC:192.168.2.1]

No matter what mode either routing or bridging using this modem whenever i run utorrent i cant access http i.e surf or even the modem page or my wrt54gl page. Its kinda weird before this i run the modem into routing mode i can torrent and surf but then after some reading i try to make use of my wrt54gl routing feature. At first i suspect it could be openwrt bug but then it seems complicated when i plug my pc direct to DB102 the problem still there

This modem basically sucks.

I've just had this modem for 1 week (today) and I've already called 100 to reset my connection 4 times, twice yesterday (once in the morning, once at night). Apparently this modem wasn't "set" to do PPPOE or something (according the the tech fella). He advised me to get it to any PC shop for them to change the settings.

Also this modem seems to have a lot of "Time Outs". Dunno la.. could be faulty. Some connections I just need to constantly refresh.

I say to hell with it. I'm just gonna get a wireless modem router and use that instead.

Yea, it's basically Plug and Pray.. erm.. Play. tongue.gif
Had issues installing a dialer on my PC and creating a dialer for it (it just didn't seem to work)

Not connected to my Mac yet... only PC and PS3.
So far, I set it to PPPOE, auto dial when it's turned on and only 1 PC is on it... (1 ethernet output only)
If I were to use it for my PS3, I'll just unplug from PC and plug into PS3.. works fine. hehe

It is better you list out at least 2 front no. of the IP
118.x.x.x can be from many country...
Like 118.0.x.x to 118.23.x.x is from Japan
But 118.24.x.x to 118.31.x.x is from China
Then 118.32.x.x is from Korea......

And the IP address doesn't depend on modem... sweat.gif

Added on July 26, 2008, 4:31 pmneed help in speed setting of this modem..

my streamyx is supposed to be 1Mbps. surely can't get that speed
but looking at the DB102 config menu, my max speed only 320 kbps
is there any setting that can increase the speed?

currently i set the modem to work as router.

Start -> Run
execute cmd

telnet 192.168.1.1

login: tmadmin
pwd:tmadmin

type this:
get dsl stats ?
check what available command

then retype with command u want:
get dsl stats curr <-- if not mistaken ( I throw away the modem already. cannot remember the command )

then it will show you the statistic.

hello, I got just this connection 1mb/s package from streamyx, and using their lovely modem db102, I got myself a d-link router, model: DI-704P, it is an old router. I can't online when this modem > router > pc in the house. I tried to put this junk,db102, into bridge mode yet i still can't connect to the internet, (I set the settings pppoe, username and password in my router). Other than I can't online, I can't even access into the modem 192.168.1.1 when the router is in between. But I can access to the modem when I directly connect my PC to the modem. My router default gateway is 192.168.0.1. I called Streamyx helpline and they said it is not the connection problem, therefore, this is consider not their problem biggrin.gif. Cool eh? lol. . hopefully I can get some advices from pro here! thank you in advance on whatever advices you giving. =)

Hey guys, Im trying to solve this weird problem involving this piece of junk of a modem (yeah i realize it now) which is used by a friend of mine, she was using it previously but right after she re-format her pc it has gone (sort of).

I've tried resetting again using the instructions in the 1st page, the weird thing is, it can connect in PPPoE mode but upon a so called successful connection, it doesn't look like connected at all as i can't surf and all that.

anyone has any idea what is wrong?

Thats normal you're behind a NAT , you'll have to add rules to your D-link firewall to allow the connection. That isn't a bug

hi guys...im using this crappy Riger modem. i always get DC, get very irratating especially half way in online game. i just wanna confirm, is this cause by my modem itself or the line problem also? i use to stay just ~8km away from my current home and during that time, when i share internet with housemate using the ZTE modem, i hardly get DC at least not as frequent as my current home.

I still have both right now. My DB102 is collecting dust but it will act as a spare modem whenever I need it. DB102 is a great modem but it fails when it comes to act as a router. It has its own pros and cons. The flashing procedure is pretty straight forward , I would prefer you to get WRT54GL. You should just buy the router as its very powerful. You haven't seen the power of QoS yet !

fren,u mention that ur fren reformatted her PC?
Did she do anything to the router?
If NOT, i would suspect that it is some settings on the PC that needs to be tweaked as formatting will return all the settings on the PC to default.
Of course, this is just an early conclusion
will appreciate it if you can provide further information such as the modem..which lights are light up and blinking, etc
a screenshot will help a lot as well.

hihi...

i got this modem too from TMnuts. Setting up is a breeze but connectivity is ermm... vomit. Not sure how this modem suppose to be, but the "link" light on the modem blink quite frequent. Contacted TMnut everyday, according to them if the light blinks means its disconnected. However TMnut agent says its not disconnected n yet my modem "link" light blinks.

My net surfing interupted especially when im downloading big files from my school server. Had to restart all over...
*
Yes, the Link LED need to be constantly litted without any blinks. When it blink, actually no connection contrary to what your TMn?t agent said. It happened to me too. Have you tried connecting without the ADSL/phone splitter unit installed? Like me, the supplied unit is faulty - just bought one from TESCO and my problem goes away. I can still return it to TMn?t for free replacement but need to wait as the cost on fuel and toll may not justify the need to go to the original issuing TM point centre hmm.gif

On the hand, I having a "stop & go" surfing session whilst using the modem - as if no connection or DC. But the Link LED is not flickering (always on). So, when surfing, need to refresh the web link in order to get updated. Any setting on the DB102 to be fixed as I'm using the default parameters right now?

I already search / read all the tread , follow what exactly .. but still don't know how to solve to connect my riger modem db102 with belkin wireless..

Before this I'm using billion modem without any problem, no config at all at modem, just setting at PPOE at router wireless, all done .. easy,

but with my riger modem bd102 I don't know ..

1) I let it standard config ( reset the modem ) then ok .. i dial using windows streamyx -- successful BUT ..
2) When connect to router wireless using RJ45 , then setting PPOE at this router wireless .. I can't access to internet ( no dns detect and default gateway are router wireless - 192.168.2.1 )

- I already tried
1) Reset modem - bridge setting already in default setting
2) Rest this belkin router wireless and setting at PPOE as usual ( as what I had did before ) , but still no connection thru this wireless.

There are forumer who after successful solve their problem, hope they could share what exactly they did. Seem like a lot of ppl having same problem when connectting riger modem db102 with their router wireless..

thanks in advance.

HOW??

by replace this belkin router wireless with D-Link .. my old d-link, yesterday night I found it in my storeroom.. luckily I'm not sell it last time ..

my conclusion .. could be belkin router wireless not compatible with this riger modem .. or other ways..

by the way .. I'm using belkin router wireless for quite a years.. and I'm really happy with their support / performance and life time warranty .. 2 times already I replace without any problem ..

Ok after totally cracking my head, i have to post my question here

My setup
phone line-->DB102-->Tp link switch-->3 pcs

Ok, ive already tried almost all the router mode set-ups that ive found online, and I've also enabled DHCP, but whatever I do, i can never get the modem to work when using the switch. When connected directly to the modem, the internet works fine, whether in bridge or routing mode. Anyone with a similar setup can pls post their config file so that i can se those settings?

Yes.....switch is different from router. When using router, modem is set bridge mode, and u deal with router interface. When using switch, modem acts also as router.

So.....anyone using modem/switch combo able to upload their config file???

have u tried this method?
set ur DB102 to PPPOE mode
set 1 ip for the modem, let say 192.168.1.1 (the default).
u set ur pc into 1 ip, let say 192.168.1.5.
other computer set into the same ip range just the last number is unique.
set ur gateway to 192.168.1.1.

The blue colored modem is the mother of cheap modems.

It's not even worth anything more than being offered for free.

For me I never bothered at all changing the modem's config from day one.

Just leave it as plain PPPoE bridge and use a high end wireless router(DIR-655 with QoS) with it.
Works like charm.

Again this is the cheapest modem I've ever seen.So cheap that I'll take a China brand over it anyday.

is this modem supposed to be transparent (forward all/every ports to external router) in bridge mode?
why isn't it forwarding relevant ports to my dd-wrt based router (already configured port forwarding in my external router)
do we need to do NAT rules in this modem again? sweat.gif

After get yourself into the modem configuration page ( http://192.168.1.1 )
Go to WAN (or Routing) -> PPP
then remove the rules at there...

After that, don't forget to save your settings by go to Admin -> Commit & Reboot and click Commit.

Please Help!!! After I've read through 14 pages of discussion, it only get me more confuse. And I did try the Auto dial up setting (by adding username and password in PPP interface under Wan) and it shows "link up" but still when i open IE, it does not connect to the internet (am i misunderstanding the auto dial up means?), and i did try enable DHCP and DNS and disable, i did try disable the Router function also. If i ignore and configure the linksys broaband router anyway, i will stuck at step 8, which checking router and computer setting, it will prompt to ask me enter password (believe me, i try all the password i know, include streamyx password, linksys default password "admin", modem default password....), and i don't know what rules...etc...

Modem: Riger DB102
Router: WRT54GS
laptop to connect : 3

I've reset the modem few times, router few times, i still unable to link them up. Modem work perfectly using dial up. Can anyone use the same combination teach me step by step?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Hey, need help here. I've tried port forwarding for torrenting and it helps a lot in increasing my download speed and all. In the other hand, it slows down my internet speed for browsing and I mean really slow. When I open a webpage simultaneously with my running bittorrent, I need to refresh the page a couple of time as it keeps losing its connection. But the torrent still running fine.

Just in case for more information, I tried decreasing the upload speed to 1kb so that it wont affected my internet speed. I also realise even when the download speed is low eg. 10kb it still causes the same problem. It's like when I run the azureus it feeds in all the bandwidth leaving a tiny bit for internet browsing.

I believe my port forwarding setup is correct as it does improve my bittorent a lot. But probably there is something that i need to reconfigure to make things right.

Anyone who can help, his or her assistance is greatly appreciated.

After that, click on Admin and then Commit and then Reboot Once it’s done you should check your Internet connectivity by loading your favorite website.

I've try this on the previous setting it work (last 1 month) but It doesn't working now. Any idea how? It's seem like the modem is connected to TM DSLAM but doesn't login (I've provided a correct username and password, the link led is up and the data doesn't show a green light).

but It's still working if I using it as bridged (setup a dialler for it). Any idea how to ask the modem to login to TMNET? why the bridged work and the PPoE doesn't work? any idea?? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

hi all ... i have a question regarding this modem , i went for a CNY visit to my cousin house and they ask me to change their manual dail to a pppoe method so i try it to the modem interface using 192.168.1.1

after i go in i click smartconfig mode and set the login pass into it then submit , its strange is that after it refresh nothing;s working . the "LINK" LED isnt on nor blinking , i try to login to the interface back but 192.168.1.1 cannot be accessed anymore and the network icon on windows showing limited connetion sign (!)

is the modem spoiled ? if its that so how can it be spoiled by just setting it ?? i even try the reset button , hold it for more than 5 -10 sec and it wont reset . lol .... ... i have also bring it back to my house and try with my line as it thought it may be their line problems and same result in return .

just wish to know if its already faulty ?
dunno the warranty period ... will have to ask ... but for me i would rather get a linksys gateway =.=''since ive been getting complaints from friends about this junky modem

hope u guys can help me indentify the problems thanks in advance smile.gif

is the modem spoiled ? if its that so how can it be spoiled by just setting it ?? i even try the reset button , hold it for more than 5 -10 sec and it wont reset . lol .... ... i have also bring it back to my house and try with my line as it thought it may be their line problems and same result in return .
just wish to know if its already faulty ?
dunno the warranty period ... will have to ask ... but for me i would rather get a linksys gateway =.=''since ive been getting complaints from friends about this junky modem

hope u guys can help me indentify the problems thanks in advance smile.gif

You are not advised to use routing mode on this modem because this modem have time out problem frequently

open ie - key in 192.168.1.1 - username:tmadmin/password:tmadmin
click SmartConfig on right side - change mode to PPOE - key in username: abc@streamyx(example) password..... then click submit, wait for a while then click submit again.
wait for for while then click ADMIN at the top.
At the right hand side you will see a list of command. choose Commit &, Reboot.
Click Commit, wait for a while then click Reboot(to save the configuration in the modem). The modem will then reboot.
The third light DATA LED will turn green.

Link LED is for ADSL line, DATA LED for PPOE/PPOA(autoconnect)

before you configure as PPOE or autoconnect, pls try to connect to internet manually. this way you will know whether you your username or port is okay. error code will appear if it fail to connect.

hope it help

nice guide, but one things need to remind.

due to the tm always upgrade his service, sometime the riger modem can't online when set it to PPPoE mode. so, you need reset the riger modem back to bridge mode.

how to reset the riger modem? Power on it, use a pin press reset button about 10-20seconds, Power off it about 5 seconds. then your modem is reset successfully.

riger sucks too much. u cant utilize this modem on 24/7 basis.

HANGS a lot on me.. always crash, etc.

Btw, anyone can guide me which and how many IP FILTER entries that can be removed? cuz i feel that is screwing up the connection stability.

I can't play Garena properly with this modem, 80% cant see my game, even if i tunnel every fags in the room, connection will CRASH! vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

But this doesn't happen when i was using the Billion Bipac 5112s modem!

Does anyone know how to flash this modem?

Recently I reset my modem which I do quite often due to inaccessibility to connect to streamyx. I got impatient and reboot by pressing the on/off switch at the back of the modem during reset.

Now it shows 3 lights
a) Power - red
b) Link - yellow
c) Data - Green

The PC - Green light is not on.

I believe the CMOS/BIOS is corrupted.

Any way to flash the bios? otherwise it'll be a brick.

Link LED has no light means your connection has problem. Did you check the dial tone? Did you use any other house phone with same number?

It can! I experience it first hand too!

Later, I read the manual, it says not in exact words, "to reset modem press once" .

I think it means to just press and release fast. Just like you, I hold it for abt 5-10 seconds. Then I got impatient and switch off and on the modem. And that my friend is how you get a brick! hahaha....

I advise you to call streamyx fast to check your warranty period. They have that in their database. You can exchange one-to-one if your warranty period is not over.

What if you are so-called "renting" the modem? With modem included package, does this limit apply? If you are renting, TM is so-called forced to oblige to replace faulty modem.

Need to get my reading specs to read the small prints under T&C perhaps.. hehehehehehe

Hi guys,

After re-starting my modem (using the power button), my modem doesn't seem to remember its previous settings when I enter 192.168.1.1

I tried to set back my old config, but whenever I click "Commit", it will just hang there. Refreshing the page will give a timeout.

I've tried the small "Reset" button (at the back of the modem) a few times, but the result is still the same. Will have whenever I click "Commit".

Anyone have a solution for this?

I think all modem have a 1 year warranty. All you need to do is to just call them, they will tell you whether can change or not.

Out of the 4 LED lights, only the DATA light is OFF. The other 3 are not blinking, but solid ON. Order from left; green, Orange, OFF, green.

I'm suspecting hardware memory problem... Anyone else experiencing this?

When I call their company, it gave me the impression that there is a chip which fails often and needs to be replace. Once replaced, it'll work again.

I register streamyx a few days ago, on the 3rd day my line was activated and ready to surf. I hook the modem to my wifi router and boom! there you go, fast surfing experience. biggrin.gif

I checked the modem's cp and saw that I have 2048 down and 512 up! I'm like wtf! Am I in trouble or am I lucky? lol.

I subscribe for 1Mbps but instead got 2Mbps. How long you think this will last?
Oh, I did asked them about the availability of 2, 3 and 4MB line in my area and they reply with a firm NO. tongue.gif Guess, I'm just plain lucky huh.

hi all,

sometimes i read people can change their public ip with off/on the modem. i always got 118.101.x.x ip range although i've already off the modem, wait for 5 minutes and turn it on back. how to get other ip range? do i need to disabled NAT?

i'm using cryptload to dload from RS as a free user. if we set operation mode to PPPoE mode, how to auto-reset the modem every time the dload finish? or auto-reset modem only work with bridge mode?

tq.

I need to restart back the modem after certain period of time, for instance like 4-5 hours then the connection disconnected automatically.

Fedup gila when in the middle of downloading at night, suddenly see at the morning, the download are not finished. It just happened recently.

Everytime after restarting the modem, have to go to 192.168.1.1 -> SmartConfig -> Click Submit again. Then i can use the internet. How is it possible. Does it suppose to connected directly after we turn on the modem?

i)DNS set as automatic
ii) username include @streamyx only without .com
iii) Under the Home -> System view .. look at WAN interface .. if status is green than already have IP, that's mean your internet is already up!

I tried both using splitter and direct but to no avail. And yes, I can use my phone. Could it be that stimik connection to my area was disrupted last nite? (the connection failed at about 12.30am). I tried again around 5.45 am with no luck. Now edi in d office. cannot try

I'm gonna try using other modem today (borrow from friend).

hi...hope that somebody can help me here.i just bought streamyx in a box(512kb) about a month ago with a free riger db102 modem but i got connection problem using pppoe mode eversince.after some time (about 9-10 hours) it will suddenly disconnected (or maybe the modem hang...i guess).the 'data' light on the modem will stop blinking and my pc will show 'limited or no connectivity'.i hv to restart the modem everyday to get the connection back.this is not happening when i use bridge mode(manual connection) and why is that?
1 more thing,is there any difference in speed between pppoe mode and bridge mode?

thanks in advance!

this modem is not suitable to be used in router mode or ppoe. using this causes it to loss connection after hours of usage.
use it in its original state: bridge. this will give less disconnections.

port forwarding? i can't commit and reboot. it hangs. so my attempt on port forwarding was never a success. read around.. many faces this as well.
but try it. some works. mostly don't.

if data light is OFF. check:
1. phone line is ok?
2. try direct connection which means no splitter used. sometimes faulty splitter.
3. if u usually use auto connection or ppoe or router mode --> look at "smart config" where ur mode should be there. set it ppoe and put in ur streamyx acc + pw.
4. still OFF? call TM.

just trying to help. if u read around this are the possible ways of solving it.
and till today, im still trying to find ways to do port forward.

yep, its hard to save the settings to the modem. im running this modem as bridge mode, but at first i wanna change the ip so it doesnt conflict with my router ip. need to try countless times before the settings is finally set into this modem. well, in the end its done, now its working as it should and till now still no disconnections, 24/7.

Last night my old Aztech DSL600W suddenly can't connect to internet (DSL and Internet led no light, but Wireless led is on) so I tought it's dead. So I take out this Riger DB108-WL from TM to do setting but the DSL and Internet led not lighting up too. Wireless led is on and I can connect to the router using 192.168.1.1
Since it's very late at night so I didn't call TM for help. But is it both modems got problem or simply streamyx down? hmm.gif

Riger DB102 is a piece of crap modem. If TM want to give you this modem, say bye bye. Insist to change to another modem because there are million of problem with this modem.

Streamyx helpdesk support is almost useless. Lack of technical knowledge. Don't even know the basic of network. You can test them. Maybe by asking simple question. Can you give me the names of 7 OSI layer?

Better speak with Advance Troubleshooting Team (ATS). They have better experience and knowledge.

Need help here. Has anyone face this problem??

I just get streamyx package installed. It is running fine on my laptop, but not on my desktop.

Problem: Desktop pc cannot communicate to 192.168.1.1 (modem Riger DB102). Have searched the internet and tried to copy setting from my laptop to the desktop but still cannot. I have tried:

1. 192.168.0.1
2. https://192.168.1.1
3. Turn off anti virus, minimize startup program.
... and many other thing but still cannot connect to the modem. I am suspecting some software ( windows or something else) that preventing the auto setting of IP address.

To all the sifu out there pls help me.

I have a D-link modem router at home with website control interface which allow me to disconnect and reconnect from the internet with one button

This is useful to get the desired ip address i need for better gaming.

My office is using db102 riger modem from tmnet. else then manually on/off the power button to restart, i wish to know if i can do it via the modem control panel in website or any other method. This lag is killin my gaming experience

thanks

I started using this modem recently after my D-Link got busted and I noticed the Streamyx dialer would
stop responding whenever I click disconnect. After that, when I shut my PC down, the windows will always
stop at "Saving Your Settings" and I have to forcefully shut it down by pressing the casing "ON" button for
5 seconds.

So has anyone experience problem this before?

you should enter the web management of that modem
how?
you go to address bar, type 192.168.1.1
it will ask for username and password
for this modem it should be
username: tmadmin
pass:tmadmin

than it will go to page modem setup. there you can see the account name that being used to connect

refer the manual here : http://www.riger.com.my/db_102User_Manual.pdf

Hi guys. I am on streamyx 2MB plan. I have been trying to play command & conquer - zero hour online. My streamyx riger DB108 modem cant even connect to other players. I have tried another brand router and it works but unfortunately that router had been struck by lightning. Now I have no choice but to use back my streamyx riger DB108 modem. Please advise how can I use that to play command & conquer - zero hour online?

Thanks a lot
