if it changes into modem mode, can it be connected with a switch and everybody can use it?

currently my line is like 'hilly'.. for 2 sec, the connection seems fine and after 2 sec, the line went dead and after that fine again.. it's like the life line in hospitals..
*
Nope. It needs to be in routing mode aka it needs to act as a NAT Server. I don't recommend people to use this modem as a router , the chipset isnt suitable for heavy loading routing (i.e bit torrenting , online gaming and other stuff)

Just set it up manually instead of using the CD

Make sure your DB102 is set in Bridge mode instead of routing mode

how to set DB102 to bridge mode?

go to 192.168.1.1, then?
*
Select Smartconfig and select Bridge mode. Let it configure. Then save the settings and reboot !. It will be in bridge mode

This modem is terrible when you convert it into a router. But other then that its a superb modem

You'll have to configure your router to dial the connection. Otherwise it will be offline. Set it in the bridge mode (aka factory default) and configure the settings in your router or PC

Is it plug and play and do you dial the connection from Windows/Mac ?

If you're using it in routing mode , this modem sucks to the max

hello, I got just this connection 1mb/s package from streamyx, and using their lovely modem db102, I got myself a d-link router, model: DI-704P, it is an old router. I can't online when this modem > router > pc in the house. I tried to put this junk,db102, into bridge mode yet i still can't connect to the internet, (I set the settings pppoe, username and password in my router). Other than I can't online, I can't even access into the modem 192.168.1.1 when the router is in between. But I can access to the modem when I directly connect my PC to the modem. My router default gateway is 192.168.0.1. I called Streamyx helpline and they said it is not the connection problem, therefore, this is consider not their problem biggrin.gif. Cool eh? lol. . hopefully I can get some advices from pro here! thank you in advance on whatever advices you giving. =)

Thats normal you're behind a NAT , you'll have to add rules to your D-link firewall to allow the connection. That isn't a bug

I am using Linksys WR54GL , I've been using it together with DB102 for the past one month and it works very well. Currently , I am using it with D-link DSL520T

prasys,
Thank you very much...at least I got the idea which brand shall I buy now rclxm9.gif  thumbup.gif  rclxms.gif  flex.gif
using D-Link DSL52OT modem now? How about ur DB102? Throw it away? I thought u have mentioned it is great modem blush.gif
you have very good description for both Linksys WR54G & Linksys WR54GLhere
but what is a 3rd party firmware & where to get this & how to flash into 3rd party firmware?
And what is DD-WRT/Tomato? How to flash it to DD-WRT/Tomato ?
I still can not understand them even go throught here

Shall I buy them or this is just the software/code? rclxub.gif

sorry new user here & not yet buy the router rclxub.gif  icon_question.gif

I still have both right now. My DB102 is collecting dust but it will act as a spare modem whenever I need it. DB102 is a great modem but it fails when it comes to act as a router. It has its own pros and cons. The flashing procedure is pretty straight forward , I would prefer you to get WRT54GL. You should just buy the router as its very powerful. You haven't seen the power of QoS yet !
