I've been using this modem for 2months plus and yes it has given me hell in the past 2 months. Calling tm techs to look and fix didnt solve anything.
So on a mission to find anything or everything about this modem, ive found alot lol

.
Ive messed with dsl configs and to no avail changing standards and stuff, no help.
4lights on no connect onoff every 5 to 10mins.
Tested line with a Billion dsl modem 511s or something and the line was stable, albeit a bit slower.
Oh this is a 1.0mb soho package. The riger is faster.
So it's the bluddy modem.
Then finally, after reviewing the preconfigured configuration by TM!! ...it has occured to me that this modem has too many firewall rules!!!
Guess what, after getting the disconnects again, I tried turning off the firewall,(for testing only, not recommending you turn it off forever.
Thru telnet;
off "modify ipf global seclevel none"
on "modify ipf global seclevel low" or medium or high.
Walaa connection back on.
Or perhaps thru the web interface, under srevices/packet filter.
This is a soho package, there were too many fw rules on the device, firewall rules takeup resources. It was preconfigured for pub dmz and priv zones. Im not serving any servers. so no need for too many rules.
Even outgoing rules were specified individually for www pop3 smtp ftp and dns.
You would do this if you wanted to control outgoing traffic, if you dont just delete them, and put one outgoing any any any, and control by denying specific protocols.
You only need 2 rules, 1 in 1 out
outgoing any protocol allow
incoming any protocol deny
ofcourse ++ your own rules for such things as torrent.
Wonder if this helps.
Oh yeah;
you only need this!!
create ipf rule entry ruleid 5 dir out act accept storestate enable seclevel high medium low
create ipf rule entry ruleid 500000 ifname public dir in act deny log enable seclevel high medium low
More info later.
Yes this modem is using a Viking chipset.
More info here;
http://corz.org/comms/hardware/router/bt.v...uter.how-to.phpSome other info later. There are firmware's on that page, but i would recommend against flashing unless your 100% sure.
Its fast, they just put a sucky predefined config, lazy bums.
Hope this helps.
