For those who wants the hi-res image for series 10..

http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/grogall/...01_detail_1.jpg

What caught my eye..
1. The grandpa could be a minifigure form of Stan Lee..
2. Sea Captain has a new binoculars..
3. New tomahawk weapon..
4. Mechanic got tattoo in the arm..
5. Golden minifig should have golden hands too..

Seem like everyone is excited about the S10. Haha. But i think it gonna take forever to reach Malaysia, since now we don't even see any S9 stock yet unless in LLM. What is the price for S10? Does anyone got any idea? S9 is cost RM12.90.

Well I personally would be frustrated if my set got missing piece coz the model cannot be completed . And it might take weeks before the replacement came. Kinda put-off lor.

No problem.. if the pieces are in my inventory.. a few pieces is nothing much. I always "restock" in bricklink once every 2 months or so.

Ahah.. thanks for the cuusoo effort. Im not really into that now (see even my siggy the "cusoo" also spelled wrongly but I lazy to correct it) as I slowly discovered how it works . Gotta be realistic smile.gif

For all we know, the golden figure may only be available for US & Europe market. I wont wanna hunt for this baby..if I get it, it just a bonus. I want to make sure I can get the rest of the characters i like.

Wish those who obtained the golden figure can have access to the main Lego factory...he he..like Charlie and his Chocolate Factory.

What figure you want? The Superman? Or all 3 from the set?

If it's just Superman, I guess can wait for the "Man Of Steel" sets.

Funny thing is, before I started to buy LEGO I actually saw alot of the Superman set you're talking about on the shelves. Even when I was in Legoland in October 2012.

Don't know if it was restock or what at that time.

Yeah that's true, different design. More comic book-y compared to the movie version.

But rejoice, the drought is over. So happy to see lots of new stock at Toys R Us 1U! It's like Christmas! wub.gif

Funny sight. The shelves were so bare the last time but now they don't have enough space and the LEGO are on the floor!

Also saw a dude picit-picit a box of Series 9 at TRU. Probably about 1/2 box left at the counter.

But it's good to see that new stocks are coming in.

TRU and others need to take note of aeon promo marketing, give a little money out and more stocks will flow. Sad to see those hospital sets still sitting in TRU MV sad.gif

Even after 15% discount still not much difference compared to our lyn sellers. Most of the good stuffs would be gone less than a week, demand definitely will still be there

Bro, if posted anywhere else also gone. Now ppl got data plan...mobile internet. While on the road can access FB, get intel and zoom to hot spots.

But I hope LEGO stocks will be offered consistently. So that no short supply that would lead to pure resellers taking advantage.

Hard to say, maybe the cost is too high for scalper, unless AEON 15%. Then they come sapu everything.

i believe scalpers will not make a lot because they still need to compete with retail like brick boys which offer 10% all year long (with membership)

an example using Lego 75002 AT-RT

Aeon Price RM 129.90 (RM110.40 after 15%)
Brickboy Price RM 129.90 (RM116.90 after 10%)
LYN Price RM110.00 ~ RM120.00

Unless they want to make the RM6.90 or RM10.00 then i dont have answer for that biggrin.gif

yeap, it's actually quite competitive for some sets. for example DUPLO, with 15% discount, is even cheaper than some of my cost for certain sets. smile.gif

Hard to say, maybe the cost is too high for scalper, unless AEON 15%. Then they come sapu everything.

you can find them at TRU 1U or TRU Sunway Pyramid, still plenty of them. RM49.90 for 2 plates.
The price is reasonable since the US retails price is at USD14.99.

Those movie licensed and superheroes sets likely.

I have seen situations whereby there is only one set left on the shelf. Ask for availability and they would say that is all left.

Come back next day or two, you see another set on the shelf. Apparently it is one method to reduce mass buying by one individual or stolen/ lost.

AEON 15% is a winner than RM 10 reward from RM250 spent at TRU.

Yep just from Thunder Wings. my next aim is to combine this with another Creator set 31006 Highway speeder and make a transformable mech. The speeder parts seems like suitable for a jet-mode transformers. smile.gif

I can understand why the bot mode doesnt appeal to us... coz these LEGO sets are for kids!! their official modes are meant to be kiddy-ish , easy to build and solid looking. Im sure given time and effort... u can produce better looking MOCs. I cincai spend few days on this one coz I want faster move on with next project using the parts. smile.gif

There is no bright sunshine everyday. Furthermore hope all AEON offer the LEGO before end of the sale. Give us some chance.

After sales, then we continue buy from parallel sellers.

I see Toywizard selling CMF 9 at RM 15ea. I havent checked TRU but hope that is not new retail price.

None of the stuff I want.

Well for new LEGO fans like u.. if u compared past sets and now ... U will notice how simple things were back then. there weren't many customized parts. The lack of sleekness is obvious.

WHat I REALLY, REALLY miss bout old lego sets are their alternate designs at the back of the box. I always would try to reproduce them although there's no instructions nor internet to download them. They're not doing it anymore. Creators with 3-in-1 models are better than nothing though .

It is a very old set as it came out in 1990, hence it is 23 years old now! But the pieces still look like it is from a few years back. I know about this set because I used to have some of the smaller M-tron sets and always look into the catalogs in the early 90s. When you start looking up the old sets on brickset you will see that TLG made ALOT of space sub-themes last time.

The previous space theme was Space Police III. It is 3 because there were 2 other space police themes before that. Now it is the Galaxy Squad theme.

I agree, the old sets have more common parts compared to now. The Mega core magnetizer is all big and bulky but in a good way. That HUGE windscreen is from the base sets from previous themes but in different color.

One thing I like about old sets is the fact that the pieces are PRINTED. See the M-tron logo & design on the container? All those are printed! You simply cannot find that type of parts anymore from TLG! Even the Shell sets have printed Shell logo and wording. I got a HUGE classic town set coming with so many printed shell pieces it makes me wonder why the heck TLG never do such a thing anymore. Whatever happen to TLG's motto "only the best is best"?... rolleyes.gif

As for alternate designs on the box, I find it shameful that even a knock off brand like ENLIGHTEN can do alternate designs.

I guess that is the beauty of the old set. Luckily, there are many creators sets to fulfill lego fans needs.

I have been most impress with the series of creators houses such as seaside houses and hill side houses which allow for multiple build. rclxms.gif

Correct, but I guess caring is sharing?

Field Report
Date: 01/03/2013
Time: 2030 - 2200 hours

Target Site 1: AEON MV

Good stuff mostly gone. Some Young Builder sets and Chima left, some SW (couple of Rancor Pits left) and 1 Ninjago Golden Dragon. Also spotted one more City Fire Station (Set 7208) in the glass cabinet so those who wanna get it before the 15% offer is over better make it quick.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Target Site 2: Toys R Us MV

Fully stocked shelves, like TRU 1U yesterday
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Couldn't find what I want from AEON and didn't want to leave empty handed. My haul for the day from Brickboy with 10% discount. So tempted to get another set 76001 so that I can have a spare "The Dark Knight" costume Batman as well as extra Tumbler and The Bat.

while standby-ing on my project deployment night, I took the opportunity to unbox my ninjago 70500 mech and did some mod to it. My version's mech has a head, a shoulder mounted turret gun, a gundam-like shield, and anti-air missile launcher on the shoulder. tongue.gif

the mech's head can be moved down and become a cockpit for Kai, for him to manually control the mech laugh.gif

Would suggest you follow the latest version, that one more up to date. The one with leg you see is pretty much outdated.

I took some better photos of my Mega Core Magnetizer last night. The playability of this set is amazing; crates and small vehicles with magnets to allow you to load and unload them from the deck of the Mega Core Magnetizer. Oh, the seat is large enough for the space marine from series 7 thumbup.gif

That large window piece is usually used for space bases. So instead of a giving a base for the M-tron theme TLG decided to build a huge vehicle using that piece. Out of the 8 times this piece was used, only once it was used for a vehicle, the rest are all for window for bases.

Just back from some "scouting" and noticed pricing discrepancy amongst Technics (which is a good news). Previously it happened to one creator set (worth us$25 .. end up as rm100). Now it happened again to set 42004 mini backhoe. Not bad for a rm100 set =)

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42004-1

note: in the past.... whatever (non licensed) retailed us$20 will usually end up between rm100-rm110 here. And those with us$25 translate to more than rm120++.

Ok now we move on to the 3 technics that retailed at us$20

hovercraft: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42002-1
off road racer: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42010-1
racecar: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42011-1

suposedly all 3 should become rm100 here? nope.......... Hovercraft is less than rm80.

Is ALJ listened to our grouses... and deliberately make one /few set from each theme to be "cheaper" ?

And yes... The A-wing starfighter below is priced differently in different malls:

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=75003-1

Isetan: rm129.90
TRU: rm149.90

weird huh....

i got a feeling ALJ is pricing their 2013 sets according to box size. thats why some sets selling for [USD19.99 vs 24.99] or [USD29.99 vs 34.99] have same price.

without any piece-count info on box, consumers in general will just compare box sizes tongue.gif

U got a point there. both creator mechs (us$19.99) + highway speedster (us$24.99) have same box size but different "thickness" only. at one glance they should be equally priced.

Maybe ALJ has been listening. SW75000/1 retails for 12.99 in US (increased by 1USD) but here reduced by RM10 which is about 15% reduction.
I just bought Technic 42006 about RM234 (15% of 274.90) and this set retails for USD79.90 which is damn good price.

Maybe there is more demand on stock, they can insert more stock, like LLM demand so many set. The shipment is use in the optimum capacity so they can bring down the price.

TRU is either they mark it wrong or they want to be the one that speculate the price in the market again, taking for example, during the Bionicle release (back in year 2002?), they are always the first one to mark up the price and then followed by other retailers. Like Tahu Nuva, they mark up to 40 per can while others still at 35.90 or 36.90 per can.

ur pricing already good enough... thumbup.gif
some is even cheaper (even before i kena tax)

i didnt thought you n others would be bringing in the set that i want (so hand itchy and bought from BL, haha...)
next time i should just wait for you biggrin.gif

oh ya, wanna ask (to all lego thread reader) something about modular here.
u think it's better to just buy the modular set (rm700-rm900 for 2000+ bricks parts, everything in order, instructions n so on). build once, massive satisfaction

or MOC (involves buying many bricks parts from different seller, the cost might be rm900-rm1.3k for the parts u need, then more headache/sorting/changing/order more parts), keep on revolving the set
(eg: taking a cue from tiny tower game, where u just keep on building taller n taller)

i think another reason of price reduction for retail price here was the last quarter ALJ made a killing. stocks are moving off the shelves, thanks for the nationwide shell promo boost.

so if we buy more, they will order more. maybe now local distributor will see the rise in sales, and focus in bringing more lines/series

If you are planning to go for modular, new one just get the whole set I would said since the price is still right. Unless like green grocer etc, that one you need source by pieces since the price are sky high now.

I might bring in modular house though. Around retail price too I believe. Price are not that good.

Modular once a year, one set.

Castle, so many set, need army building to look nice. But if no expand and no exclusive set like the 1xxxx set then can collect lor, otherwise you print money also cannot dry.

Yeap dude, and if you use great rates, the customs will have their own rate and charge according to their rates. So end up your tax was like about 11%.

I think I know which bro. tongue.gif

means the cable is visible and obvious?

i use those type of super slim cable.

but still visible lo. cause i have to put extra cable as the modular building is detachable to view the interior design.

if you decide not to detach it future, then you can keep the cable short and neat and not so visible.

in my case, i still want to detach and see the interior part once in a while that's why i have to put extra cable so that it wont stuck when i detach from floor to floor.

and i'm using AC to light up the light as i turn on the light every night (need a transformer). using battery is going to kill me.

actually i think ALJ 2013 prices is better simply cos the new boxes are smaller than previous years. smaller boxes= smaller price, this has been their selling tactic on unsuspecting parents all this time tongue.gif

rmb Ninjago spinners and CMF prices '13 went up!

I admire your strength! thumbup.gif

I was like that once - telling myself "This is my last 12 inch figure". Then photos of MMS DX 11, 12 and whatever hit the net and I'm like "Holy Crap! That looks awesome and I have to get it".

That's why I find it hard retiring from 1/6th figures. And I just ordered a couple of other Batman-related toys. doh.gif

The heart wants what the heart wants. Resisting the power of the One Ring now.

And some of those modulars, mighty tempting.

Haha well I did mention to be reasonable. If you visit there often, you'll know why that is absolutely necessary. The prices of Lego there are not exactly what you'd describe as 'cheap and affordable' sometimes.

i just google what is lowball biggrin.gif

"The low-ball is a persuasion and selling technique in which an item or service is offered at a lower price than is actually intended to be charged, after which the price is raised to increase profits"

That's why I find it hard retiring from 1/6th figures. And I just ordered a couple of other Batman-related toys.  doh.gif

The heart wants what the heart wants. Resisting the power of the One Ring now.

And some of those modulars, mighty tempting.

Lol i think this is the mindset of all collectors... we always tell ourselves this will be the last one until a newer and cooler one comes out... different story then.

Modulars are good. Satisfaction when build. Once you built big sets, small sets can no longer satisfy you.

I hope not... otherwise money will flow out of my pocket non stop.

not exactly.. usually LYN forum rules doesnt allow promoting sales in thread this way (there are garage sales section) .... but since seller do it anyway.... make sure the price is better/special rate for us. =)

Im the total opposite.. smaller sets means more mileage in playing/building. with big sets... its a dilema whether to finish building in one session, or split into few session and risk cannot sleep coz excited to wait tomorrow come/continue. And when finally done.... *ouch* .. that's all to my rmxxxx.xx purchase?

haha... indirect way to get sales... doesnt matter la, ppl that hang out here already got poison and will go surf in the sales garage section anyways. I notice nowadays many trying to sell lego. A lot of AFOLs these days yo!! biggrin.gif

Ok time for me to do some community service.. Actually i notice a lot of ppl buying lego books from bookstore. why nobody try to buy bookdepository? Prices after shipping (which is free) is quite a bit cheaper than from physical store..

You know, once i ordered palace cinema wild thoughts ran through my mind.

"Hmm maybe i should get Pet shop... how about Fire brigade... maybe Town hall?"

Damn disturbing... need to fight with the temptations... luckily i got limited space to display LEGO
So yeah... that kinda stopped me from going further tongue.gif
*
Lol I can so feel this bro. Got myself Fire Brigade then Grand Emporium then Pet Shop then Town Hall. Now saving up money first before getting Palace Cinema. blush.gif

Anyway for those looking for 76001: The Bat vs Bane Tumbler, TRU One Utama has a few boxes while Aeon Jusco has 1 left. Priced at RM209.90. TRU also has LOTR sets: 79010, 79006, 79003, 79001, 9470, 9471.

Anyway, what's GG and CC?

Lol I only got two older modular (Fire Brigade & Grand Emporium) at hand now. Was thinking since it's older sets, better get them first before price increase. Place to store is another different problem that can be solved at a later time laugh.gif

2 more incoming and now you know why I can't get Palace yet as of now hahaha. Anyhow, I guess you've got more bigger sets than me especially the trains tongue.gif

No community service for Lego sets ke?...tongue.gif
Sometimes im lazy just to buy my own stuff only.
If i buy my stuff only, the shipping gonna kill me (but still cheaper than retail most of the time).
If i buy extra, i dont want to keep it that long because im not a seller per se...

Anyhoo...anyone interested in iron man sets? I already order for me obviously but need more peeps to lower the shipping cost. I dont want the batman sets incident happen again...

In the office

Me: OMG what we have a contract with BRICKLINK?

Senior Manager: BRIGHT LINK

Me: Oh... ok i'll go check it out sad.gif

Yea prices are really crazy. Hmm sadly I don't have the skills and time to source for so many parts for GG and CC. Maybe when I have time I will sit down and look for parts.

Thread move so fast today... and today is a MONDAY!! shocking.gif

Alot of people was talking about modular buildings, my advice is that if you are not willing to be poisoned and later spend kau kau to build up your "town", then better don't start modular buildings. Building a modular building is very different compared to say a city set or friends set. A city set might have 800 to 900 pieces but a modular can have 2000+ pieces. Then the interior is fully bricked up and each floor is detailed. Once you build something as big as a modular you will never want to buy any of those small sets anymore.

My modular journey started with this 2.

Then got the Pet Shop and Fire Brigade

Then the Town hall with a little MOC joined the group

Till I finally ended up with a corner lot when I decided to MOC my Olivia's house and Heartlake vet with parts I bought from LLM. Yes, I need a bigger table to take all of them again when the palace cinema comes along icon_question.gif

I am not planning to buy or bricklink the cafe corner and market street because it is too expensive to do so. Besides there are many more modulars to buy in the future. Not to mentioned haunted house, ackham asylum I have yet to buy.

I was at TRU 1U today to check out the Lego selection there. While there is new stock like Hobbit and Superheroes I have some comments:-
1) TRU cut a hole near the bar code to insert an anti-theft tag
2) Some boxes got no ALJ sticker... I think still from ALJ but since rushing to restock maybe no time to add sticker.
3) TRU's Lego shelf is only 50% occupied. The other side got non-Lego stuff and even the Classic AT-AT from Hasbro doh.gif
4) Got Series 9, but kena picit-picit-picit until no more hot stuff.

Wow shocking.gif Awesome collection. And I fully agree with you. Once I have the modulars I was thinking maybe I can build a mini town. Then I started scouting for City sets to accompany the modulars. Then I started thinking maybe I should get the remaining modulars. Thankfully I got a partner to stop me before I go all out crazily getting everything. unsure.gif

Good advise on the modular. Problem with getting started on modular is its so detailed, the smaller sets no longer gv the satisfaction after the built process is finished. And then u just want the next one, and the next, and the next...... Hehe....

yeap. but modular is really cool. i think satisfaction level depends. i'll b satisfied if i can build a city MOC using non-modular pieces. smile.gif and i feel it's more flexible as well. modular will b complex, looks awesome but don think it'll be that flexible unless i'm an EXPERT level moc guy.

still....i hope i can get 1 or 2 modular to try sad.gif

Hello,

I'm a long time collector of Lego. Just last year I happened to inherit my cousins' entire Lego city. The buildings were bought in 1984-1993 and it's pretty complete with the police stations, fire brigades and the such. There is even a car workshop and the original Octan petrol station (1992).

I'm only waiting for the Ninja Turtles set to be sold in here. Love that combination. smile.gif
