while standby-ing on my project deployment night, I took the opportunity to unbox my ninjago 70500 mech and did some mod to it. My version's mech has a head, a shoulder mounted turret gun, a gundam-like shield, and anti-air missile launcher on the shoulder. tongue.gif

the mech's head can be moved down and become a cockpit for Kai, for him to manually control the mech laugh.gif

nicer than the ori fire mech....

u r very dedicated to get your tumbler done notworthy.gif my respect to u

QUOTE(alanyuppie @ Mar 3 2013, 10:16 PM)
Just back from some "scouting" and noticed pricing discrepancy amongst Technics (which is a good news).  Previously it happened to one creator set (worth us$25 .. end up as rm100). Now it happened again to set 42004 mini backhoe. Not bad for a rm100 set =)

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42004-1

note: in the past.... whatever (non licensed) retailed us$20 will usually end up between rm100-rm110 here. And those with us$25 translate to more than rm120++.

Ok now we move on to the 3 technics that retailed at us$20

hovercraft: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42002-1
off road racer: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42010-1
racecar: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=42011-1

suposedly all 3 should become rm100 here? nope.......... Hovercraft is less than rm80.

Is ALJ listened to our grouses... and deliberately make one /few set from each theme to be "cheaper" ?

And yes... The A-wing starfighter below is priced differently in different malls:

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=75003-1

Isetan: rm129.90
TRU: rm149.90

weird huh....
*
yup. notice the pricing issue also.
hope they will continue to price it more competitively ....

now less reason for me to buy from BL (for new set)

ur pricing already good enough... thumbup.gif
some is even cheaper (even before i kena tax)

i didnt thought you n others would be bringing in the set that i want (so hand itchy and bought from BL, haha...)
next time i should just wait for you biggrin.gif

oh ya, wanna ask (to all lego thread reader) something about modular here.
u think it's better to just buy the modular set (rm700-rm900 for 2000+ bricks parts, everything in order, instructions n so on). build once, massive satisfaction

or MOC (involves buying many bricks parts from different seller, the cost might be rm900-rm1.3k for the parts u need, then more headache/sorting/changing/order more parts), keep on revolving the set
(eg: taking a cue from tiny tower game, where u just keep on building taller n taller)

If you are planning to go for modular, new one just get the whole set I would said since the price is still right. Unless like green grocer etc, that one you need source by pieces since the price are sky high now.

I might bring in modular house though. Around retail price too I believe. Price are not that good.
We have Singaporean helping too maybe? All go for CMF in LLM. Lol

i see i see...

must find ways to resist more poison....

Thread move so fast today... and today is a MONDAY!!  shocking.gif

Alot of people was talking about modular buildings, my advice is that if you are not willing to be poisoned and later spend kau kau to build up your "town", then better don't start modular buildings. Building a modular building is very different compared to say a city set or friends set. A city set might have 800 to 900 pieces but a modular can have 2000+ pieces. Then the interior is fully bricked up and each floor is detailed. Once you build something as big as a modular you will never want to buy any of those small sets anymore.

My modular journey started with this 2.
user posted image

Then got the Pet Shop and Fire Brigade
user posted image

Then the Town hall with a little MOC joined the group
user posted image

Till I finally ended up with a corner lot when I decided to MOC my Olivia's house and Heartlake vet with parts I bought from LLM. Yes, I need a bigger table to take all of them again when the palace cinema comes along  icon_question.gif
user posted image

I am not planning to buy or bricklink the cafe corner and market street because it is too expensive to do so. Besides there are many more modulars to buy in the future. Not to mentioned haunted house, ackham asylum I have yet to buy.

I was at TRU 1U today to check out the Lego selection there. While there is new stock like Hobbit and Superheroes I have some comments:-
1) TRU cut a hole near the bar code to insert an anti-theft tag
2) Some boxes got no ALJ sticker... I think still from ALJ but since rushing to restock maybe no time to add sticker.
3) TRU's Lego shelf is only 50% occupied. The other side got non-Lego stuff and even the Classic AT-AT from Hasbro  doh.gif
4) Got Series 9, but kena picit-picit-picit until no more hot stuff.
*
yup.... 2k+ bricks is tempting...
the massive sense of accomplishment is there...
and u got an awesome collection notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

yeap. but modular is really cool. i think satisfaction level depends. i'll b satisfied if i can build a city MOC using non-modular pieces. smile.gif and i feel it's more flexible as well. modular will b complex, looks awesome but don think it'll be that flexible unless i'm an EXPERT level moc guy.

still....i hope i can get 1 or 2 modular to try sad.gif

Ya, off course can. but you have to find way to manage the cable though.

me currently using this led strip (attached image).

Can be cut into smaller pieces ( minimum is like 3 led).

So i can control the length of it. and then i will just join the led from floor to floor by the thin cable attached in the mail.
(cut those usb cable, and you can found many cable inside, just simply pick 2 color that you like and join lo)

thanks for sharing.. maybe i should get those LED strip for my other projects?
