My area has Unifi already.

But I want to upgrade my 1Mbps Streamyx to 4Mbps.

Is that possible, or will TM try to get me to subscribe to Unifi VIP5?

hi there, why don't u consider Unifi? after all, it's only 1mbps difference between the 2, and you will also use fibre optic service instead of copper wiring.

I have considered Unifi and I choose not to subscribe for the following reason.

My POTS wiring in the house is all concealed with three extension plugs.

Two upstairs and one downstairs.

I would hate to have ugly new wiring running externally, probably having to drill a wall or two, to install Unifi.

And I lose my concealed telephone extensions as well.

they said my area doesn't support 4mbps based on what the system say, is there anyway to ask for the technician to check directly? really want to hop on this 4 (or 8) mbps bandwagon

anyone stuck on 219.x.x.x IP range? my ftp speed got chopped

Technician came to upgrade my line to 4Mbps on 29 Jan:
However, up till today 1 Feb, my modem statistic is still :

SNR Margin: 36.5 24.0 db
Line Attenuation: 17.5 4.5 db
Data Rate: 1024 512 kbps
Max Rate: 8672 1156 kbps
CRC: 0 0

Called TM. they asked me to call technician.
Called Technician, he said TM problem. Kept asking me to wait a few days.

PS: ON 29 Jan during installation, he came to my house and test. He called TM on the spot and then reset the modem. However, it remained at 1Mbps. After an hour, he told me to wait 1 hr and retry again. There after, he left.

Since then, he has been blaming TM while TM is asking me to call technician during this 14 days warranty period.

Anyone has any idea where the problem lies? Is it the port outside or is it TM not resetting my account?

I would say the tech already done his work, check the modem setting, internet, gather the statistic and report back to TM. Installer doesn't have any authority to open the port as it is TM's job resetting it.

I was happily torrenting with my 4mbps line until last month December i think. suddenly cannot connect to any tracker. torrents stuck. Is this throttling kah? i suspect it is cos i tried VPN can connect.

Want to comfirm la. i not like very savvy with my PC.

TM probably blocked some of the tracker through their DNS or proxy?
Had you tried changed your DNS in your network settings to use Google DNS?

Yes, you cant use tracert. Try use ftrace instead

It was always blocked if you're using their DNS, use google dns instead of theirs.

Anybody upgraded their 1Mbps to 4Mbps online before?

I just submitted my upgrade online this morning via http://www.tm.com.my/shop/home/Pages/home_streamyx.aspx

When I log in to MyTM, under My Order, it is now showing "in progress".

I wonder how long the whole process will take.

I was always using their DNS before, maybe they added more of those trackers that they blocked? OK i go home n try with google DNS n see.

They're randomly generated, mixed between a number and alphabet.

wooot... Just upgraded my line today...

Download speed averaging 4.3~4.5mbps... Altho upload speed still suck... (<150kbps)...
Called the technician.. and asked me to wait ~7days till the line is stable (same when I call 100) XD

Total.. takes less than 24 hours
