about kepler, its the new architecture of Nvidia graphic cards, just like ivy bridge being new architecture for intel processor

at nvidia program. there is an auto mode, integrate graphics or nvidia processor columm. highlight the one u desire and voila.

need help!!
yesterday i just bought Y480 with freedos but after format to window 7 and reboot keep pooing sound abt 10 sec only can see the running window logo

jst got y480
the explorer so slow like a turtle
i just the cpu usage n ram usage is very very low only
seem not using at all
i doubt is the hardisk 5400rpm problem
or the driver problem
currently i still not able to find the nvidia driver
anyone care to share out whre the driver?
the lenovo website drive doesnt match as well
driver support is SUX to max

Yes. See the 1st post. All works well for my laptop. Even for the windows 8. Runs beautifully.

i got 1 unknown driver not which is missing
seem cant find

Install one key theater.one key recovery.energy management frm driver cd.

notice my machine
when plug in 8gb or different frequency ram
it give a unstable result
did a hardisk read show 5mb/sec
when pllug that ram off it show 80mb/sec
it so slow that take 15 sec to load a IE page

still finding out whether is the ram causing the issue
or hardisk bottleneck?

then it smooth again

Despite the fact the laptop is crazy fast, it’s slow to bootup, the hard drive is like a huge inertia that has to be overcome before the speed and momentum of the other components can take over.

I just changed mine to a ssd sata3 , the laptop spec now can be fully utilize , 18 sec boot-up(with gadgets rdy) and 8sec of shutting down .

I bought the GT650 variant last weekend, and let me tell you this puppy is sweet.

One thing to note though, I bought the FreeDOS version and it does come with the driver CD, but OneTouch recovery will NOT work for this laptop.

Also, during first boot, do NOT boot into windows or DOS, but instead go to BIOS immediately because it will give you the Advanced configuration menu. Once you boot into any OS, the Advance configuration menu will disappear. We will need to wait for a modded BIOS hack to access the Advance menu (InsydeH20).

I got a 7.0 score on the Windows experience index, with a 5.9 for disk transfer rate, which kinda sucks, which is why I'm thinking of upgrading to an SSD.

Oh yeah one more thing, if you're planning to buy it make sure you get the PC1600 DDR3 and NOT the PC1333 DDR3. I got "free" RAM upgrade and they gave me the PC1333, and now I have to pay to get a PC1600 to sync with the original

The default 4gb ram is PC1600 DDR3 or PC1333 DDR3? I added a 4gb Apacer ram which is supposed to be PC1333 DDR3 without prior knowledge of the existence of PC1600.

Yup , change to SSD and use HDD caddy bay to gain high speed in booting , opening program and etc .

The default RAM is PC1600 DDR3 it is labelled PC12800 on the RAM module itself (i.e. high performance RAM). If you got an additional 4 gb PC1333, then just download CPU-Z and see if that Apacer module will run on the same timing as the PC1600, if not, then get one that will.

I got the one with the styles and orange edge, it's the Nvidia GT650M model. Yours is probably the GT640LE. No offense bro, but the benchmark performance difference between those 2 cards are quite big (around 40%).

Actually mine's with the orange edge with all the pattern on the cover. Its the GT650m model with 500gb and freedos. Frankly i would prefer the plain brushed metal design though

lol, better pull out the 1300, your system will make system breakdown at worst, slowdown at best.
use the same clock ,1600mhz ram for system speed and stability

yes only the orange color stip with pattern on top is gt650m the other brushed metal is gt640m le.... get a U2 is far enough for it and i'm using it. U2 is great

Once online registered, I believe it will update to 2 yrs limited warranty. A member in cari forum did mention that, e-mail the receipt to Lenovo to update the warranty status.

Just bought it yesterday with Windows 7 Home Premium licence and they free me 2GB RAM upgrade(although I have 4GB extra RAM and just change to 8GB RAM myself), bought at RM2779(I'm back to my hometown bought and they sell Windows licence price a bit higher, RM280. Luckily they got free 2GB RAM if not I'll nego...lol)
I can say it's very powerful laptop and battery life is very impressive.
The Windows Index Score:
Processor: 7.5(without startup software it can be 7.6)
RAM: 7.6
Graphic: 7.2
Gaming Graphic: 7.2
HDD: 5.9
And this laptop also can maintain in low temp(At least my laptop is lower temp than my friend's Asus N56)

Near to gaming laptop already
Battlefield 3 running smooth enough(Full screen, vertical sync on, graphic auto coz just now I lazy to set)
World of Tank in very high graphic setting still can perform 20-40fps, but I recommend to set to high graphic setting(rise to 30-50fps)

install back the official lenovo driver..it move back t0 7.1

But I think is NVIDIA rescale the score, just now also install on Inspiron 15R(GT525M), and that laptop Gaming graphic score drop to 6.4...
I think I might be no move back since gaming fps rices many
(in World of Tank graphic high setting it can be 30-60fps, in very high it can also 20-60fps)

Any local y480 will get 2 years warranty. Unless stated from shop. If u got only 1 year warranty, that means ur item is not from local.
Check warranty status on 1st page.. Ignore the laptop box information mate.
