looks like Lenovo Malaysia's strategy so far is not to bring in any Y580 i5. Look at their pricing:

Y480, i7 HD  - rm2500
Y580, i7 FHD - rm2900 (reduced specs)
Y580, i7 HD  - rm3400
Y580, i7 FHD - rm3600

they have covered very well the range from 2500 to 3400. if they bring in y580 with i5, where should they place it? so i think they might not bring in. if you want to import, might as well just take any of the above without any trouble. but who knows they might after this round of heat wave created by the y480 & y580 combo?

of course I'm not insider, just my speculation.    rolleyes.gif

The latest Broadcom wireless LAN driver for Win7 32/64 is 5.100.82.139 - IdeaPad S300/S400.
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/...?DocID=DS030386
It should be usable for Y580 since they normally don't modify the broadcom wireless driver to fit for any specific laptop. hmm.gif
Pls try it up & report back whether it solve the wireless issues of Y580 & any improvement.

The stock Y580 Broadcom wireless LAN driver is 5.100.82.112.

IMO, its better to combine all Y series under one roof rather than open so many Y series threads to compete with each other. laugh.gif
It will also help the "Alien Y" motheship thread move faster to next version. thumbup.gif
Pro users of Y580/Y480 can also help the junior new user of Y500/Y400 or future Yxx series to overcome the Lenovo software/hardware issues since its under the same cateogory of Lenovo multimedia Y series.

Needs a good sumaritan to handle the increasing popular "Alien Y" motheship. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif
