I plan to go for SSD and Caddy HDD later
128Gb SSD for OS and frequently used programs should be sufficient geh

If I am not mistaken, there aren't any warranty void sticker around those component. So I don't think it will cause any warranty issue. Usually changing the ram, hard disk and ROM is fine.

But for some high end machine, like the Asus G55VW, I was told that we can't even change the hdd or ram as there is a warranty void sticker around it. So that's what stopping us.

And the maximum resolution is 1366??

If I were you, I go for the Y580, once you get a hang on the FHD you will get addicted. And not to forget the Nvidia 660M if you like gaming.

Yup, in the factory setting, office starter is there. But nowadays I don't really use MS Office. Mostly I will be using OpenOffice.

Btw, I can't seem to find the boot optimizer in the application and driver folder in the stock machine.

Any idea how well that boot optimizer works and where I can get it?

Lol, not yet have SSD mah. Hopefully that I can get my SSD within 2 to 3 months time.

True, the alignment will go off if you use openoffice and ms office.

Lol, I used to do all the manual work like going to services and turn off those services that are not important to me and so on.

It's not too much different, if I am not mistaken the 3630 is the replacement model for 3610. All new batch of Y580 should be containing i7-3630.
It does not make sense for you to go for 3610, unless that you have a budget constrain and the vendor willing to cut the price for you.
If so, does it justified for the amount of price cut in return of sacrificing 100 Mhz lor.
If it is affordable, extra juice will always be good as backup for future purpose.

That's quite weird, right after I have make my factory recovery disc then I straight went for format with Win7 Pro.

Everything working smooth till now. I have been using stock drivers except for my graphics drivers.

Not yet oh...

Planning to get SSD soon though. Have try to order the caddy bay. Probably wait for caddy bay arrive 1st before getting the SSD.
Got any value for money SSD to recommend for me? So that I can put them on my list first. Hehe

I am only targeting around 120GB SSD jek.
Between Intel 330, Crucial M4, Samsung and Kingston, depens which one offer better pricing and performance for around 120GB.

Hmm... Good Idea, too bad that MSATA HDD is too expensive liow.

If I get MSATA the cost is around 400, then SSD around another 400 and a 1TB HDD will cost also 400. Total 1,200, over budget liow xD. Maybe can consider again when the price of MSATA have been reduced.

Also, in the past post, I think i notice someone saying that is the MSATA unable to function unless for those models that comes with it stock.

Maybe MSATA + SSD + HDD = Triple Storage

Maybe getting a 25-inch LCD monitor with build-in speakers then pasang with Y580 will reach another level of enjoyment. lol.... XD

Clean format then re-install everything from scratch.
Anti-Virus? MSE aka Micrsoft Essential.
Then tweak your windows to tailor suite efficient

Nope, I have tried to use battery to watch FHD movies before and it is smooth.
Maybe you should check your notebook setting?

Nope, you don't have to install anything to get the keyboard backlight up.
By right, you should be able to toggle it on and off even in dos mode.

If really not working, I suggest you sent it back for checking and the sooner the better, some distributor will get you 1 to 1 replacement if they have stock within 1 week time.

Manufacturing defect due to mass production??

Remember months ago when I was doing research on Y580, no problem found and even when I encounter the screen color disorder and try to Google also no result.

First assassin creed me no problem.
But I can only play it with the stock NVIDIA Graphic Driver. If I update it then it won't support and the game will crash.

Diablo 3 I didn't have oh. Paiseh, cannot help you on D3.

GW2 I can help la.
