If the above tutorial still not work for you, right click on the desktop. Select 'NVIDIA Control Panel'. In 'Manage 3D Settings', go to 'Global Settings' --> 'Preferred graphics processor': --> select 'High-performance NVIDIA processor' --> click 'Apply'.

Im new here and really sorry to throw in a question like this for v5 of the thread

My n55 is having this problem that When I run games for about 1-2hour (depends on luck or what IDK) a BSOD will surely occur (eg: NFSRun , L4D2 , F12011)

What I did : Use High Perf settings , Upgrade Nvidia Drivers , Using 1x 4GB ram instead of 2 , switch slot of ram

I know N is not for gaming but surely GT555M can tahan rite??? so any1 help to solve??? Thx alot in advance

My first game is Black Ops and MW3 and no problem on that 1 .... been playing it for 1 month den started Dirt 3 with BSOD and den followed by all he High specs games with the same problem.

Does BlOps and MW3 BSOD now? And have you tried lowering the graphic settings?

MW3 still no problem as of the last time I played (which is after the 1st BSOD) I do run the games in lower screen res (1028X768 instead of 1366X768) and graphic settings is always default (neither highest nor high , normal graphics I would say)

BSOD? hmm.. Check whether you have the latest Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5

I would say I have since most of the games asked me for it....but just in case, how to check???

@@ Is your fans making louder sound compared to when you first bought it ? tried other temperature monitor apps ? Like Pirifom's Speccy.

BTW, do you know how to dissemble your laptop to check for any clogging in the fans?

as i know intel wireless display need a special wireless connector inside your laptop

I just checked at asus website and intel website, Asus N53SN which uses Intel Core i7-2630QM is listed as supported processor in the link you have given. There are also drivers for Intel WiDi in Asus website dedicated for Asus N53SN.

Hi guys. Have anyone tried running 16 or even 32 GB ram on N53SN? I know 32GB is overkill (lol) but I did heard that some people got BSOD immediately after installing more than 8GB ram.

Thinking of upgrading to 16GB HyperX / Corsair Vengeance soon. soon.. when I get the moneyh... =p

But why will Asus giving out the driver for it ? And listed Intel WIDI as one of it features ?

For 16GB of RAM, there is totally no problem for it You can upgrade it but i will personally recommend 12Gb of RAM.

For your last concern, it is not about the more than 8GB which makes the system BSOD, but it is the RAM itself. I mean i have heard that people reports that Some brand of RAM cant fit well with the default Elpida RAM in our N53SN. I personally now using Elpida + Hynix RAM to make it all together 8GB of RAM. So far so good, no problem at all

When u click update, and if it is failed, there should be an error code or message right ? Copy it and paste in google! Im sure you will find the answer for it

Hey there guys! I'm looking to seek an alternative to the Zenbook to save costs. I'm still considering the Zenbook, but was thinking I should be more cost efficient a bit and look at the U series.

Yea it certainly does. But the difference will be hard to notice in normal condition BTW, the HDD itself can be replaced and upgraded anytime you want, so i don't think it is a big problem here

Hi guys, i have Asus A42JV laptop and it seems that the print screen button doesn't work anymore....any ideas or solutions to the problem...

I think about RM3k lah, originally wanted the Zenbook... but I think and think, a bit expensive ler. For usage, basically everything except gaming and video editing. Light gaming maybe, I think the U36SD specs are good enough.

Anyone getting extremely high temps for their A53s ? I'm getting 46-51 on idle and 90 on full load. I've tried replacing the thermal paste but only 2-3c difference. I'm thinking I might be putting either too much or too little on dies. I've also cleaned my fans using Cyberclean. Drivers and BIOS are all up to date as well.

Any suggestions ?

The idle CPU temperature will be around 50 degree celsious

Guys, I've just burned the W7 Premium copy to my dvd..I wanna ask, does the bloatware also include in the recovery software or only W7 premium?

The bloatware is only in the recovery. A fresh install only has the bare minimum OS. However, you would need to download some drivers for the hotkeys etc.

Got some question. Lets say if i wanna upgrade my ram to 2x4GB=8GB. What speed of ram should i chose for higher bus speed benefit. Can i just buy another one which is different manufacture from the stock one. Or i should buy two new dual channel one and what the speed is the best for my system? Very confuse here what the dual channel thing.

So, if i reformat back with my windows7 premium (dvd that i've burned from this laptop), it shouldn't come up with the bloatware right?

It is advised to use identical RAM to avoid any problems that might be encountered sooner or later.

Yea, the Dvd recovery you have burnt out is exactly same as your recovery partition, so you will have all those bloatwares preinstalled

Solution

Download the ATK files from the utilities, install it then it should recognize your laptop as an Asus brand.

I've upgraded mine to 16Gb HyperX PnP 1866mhz, so far so good. Never really had problem.

My opinion:
-Never mix RAM from different manufacturer. Its a real hit or miss kind of thing. When it works, you save money. When it doesn't work, you're fcked. Personally when I tried the latter a few years ago, I got fcked. Never really had problem like BSOD or things of that sort, but there's this kind of random events where booting becomes a problem. For long term sake, just get a new set of em.
-1866mhz is better than 1333mhz, but if you don't have the juice; just score with the 1333mhz. Buy 8GBx2. that way you can eventually add more when you have enough money. get 32Gb. overkill mang~ haha.
-8gb is good. but 12Gb is usually the better minimum. you don't really need 16 or 32gb imho. =p

You should just upgrade into two 4gb 1333mhz ram of any brand you like, it's more than enough for a laptop.

I know ultrabooks aren't meant for gaming but I would like to have some light gaming on it during spare times. Just wondering is it smooth to play Heroes of Newerth and starcraft 2 on it?

From what I see on the Asus website, the zenbook ux31 doesn't have a dedicated GPU for gaming so I believe you can't run Starcraft 2 on it. Not sure how well it could run HoN tho, but I think you can at least run it on low setting.

I do not think that it is capable of playing starcraft 2 smoothly. But DOTA will be no problem

BTW, why will you like to play game on such a small screen (11inch) ?

Well, running it is no problem but how smooth it is will be another matter.

But with the HD3000, you can just play SC2 on low. Most other games should just be about playable. HoN is no doubt one of them.

A-series doesn't have backlit keyboards.

Currently, only the G-series has it.

Most obvious is the GPU. But basically the GT610M is a rebadged GT520MX so this would be slightly faster than the old model. Other changes could be the CPU and the HDD used.

Just a quick confirmation..

Asus A-series does not come with a backlit kb? Any option to add that in? I am too used to backlit kb that I can't live without one =,=
