Anyone know is it possible to upgrade I5 cpu to I7 cpu for A53SV? I want to upgrade my CPU to I7 because on retail spec on ASUS website, there is i7 version of A53SV. So the question is :

1. Is it possible?
2. Is it worth it?
3. Will it void warranty?
4. If i send it to ASUS centre to change it is the warranty still valid.
5. Where i can get the I7 CPU?
6. How much?

540M is slightly slower than gt620. your laptop should be able to play crisis 3 in low-to-medium setting..

Mine 1 , that receptionist said 2 weeks like that can get edi, but now already more than 2 weeks.

Fortunately, I checked the repair status online, it stated that my laptop has been repaired and can be collect, maybe they too lazy to give me a call and inform me haha.

Hi guys, revisiting this thread again for the first time in a long time.

Since a friend of mine is going to China for a week, I'm asking him to get me some stuff from Taobao.

I'm looking at a LCD swap for my A42Jr since the colours are pretty horrendous (greenish and washed out) and tweaking colour profiles in the CCC only goes a certain way to fix this.

I know that the ATI chipset is supposed to have superior colours to a NVIDIA one but I think the issue with these units is the quality of the Chimei panel itself.

As such, are there any (preferably IPS) replacements that have the exact same LVDS type and LVDS positioning as the stock one?

Here are my requirements (in ascending order of cost and difficulty of acquiring):

- 1366x768, TN Panel, LG Philips. This will definitely improve on the colours but retaining the same resolution.
- 1600x900, TN Panel, LG Philips. This will definitely improve on the colours and give me a resolution boost which I need for my work.
- 1920x1080, TN Panel, Any brand. This is ideal - I would love to have the extra resolution for my work. Don't bother about gaming - I play only TF2 and if I need to play a game I'll just lower the resolution and use ATI scaling to stretch it to the full size of the screen.

These are my ideal screens. Of course, if we can acquire an IPS panel over a TN that would very much be appreciated. But before we even talk about 'accurate' colours I'd first like to see some 'better' colours.

Any ideas shifus?

new user of K46C, just a small issue i'm facing for almost a month since i bought it... whenever I play games (like Dota), it keeps lagging with approximately 2-3 second lag, nt just gaming have this problem also when playing music
some of my friends said that it could be problem of malware or hard disc cuz I dropped my once and get my btm bezel cracked    but my hard disc was safe after done checking with Mini Tool partition, so anyone of you facing such problem or any other ways to solve it, it's really annoying

I did update my GC last few weeks, it seem to improve a little bit, bt still i can feel the laggy when having dota and music played at the same time, or maybe a format will do the job? wondering why just I'm having the issues 

I did add extra ram, 2gb+4gb....actually overall performance is smooth, the problem just the lagging thingy

it's not the cable problem. My unit is special case. No warranty.
I just wanna know if replacing LCD would really fix this issue.

Recently got a Fujitsu LH700 (working condition) to sell and I thought how about cannibalise some parts from it.

Turning my K42Jr into an X42Jr soon.

First thing that got swapped is the wireless card.
Atheros AR9285/5B95 got swapped in favour for the really good Intel Centrino 6300 Ultimate-N card from the Fujitsu.

Next step is a CPU transplant.

I know how to get to the motherboard but what baffles me is the amount of things holding it down.

Last week while replacing the rattling fan for my friend's K42 I noticed how hard it was for the motherboard to be pulled up despite undoing all the screws and freeing the left-side connectors from the clips at the side of the case.

It seems I also broke a few case clips and a screw post at the top left corner of the laptop (the one with the Altec and SRS logo).

The broken screw post does seem like a common issue - Asus Singapore took my laptop in late last year because I bricked the board in a BIOS flash and when it came back the screw at that point was glued it.

I was so pissed I camped at the centre way past closing hours just to ensure they fixed it so that I once again had a screw that could at least work like a screw.

I don't want to damage my laptop in the process of the CPU transfer... So any idea guys?

Additionally, where does one get a hold on the exotic plastic tape they use to seal the fan to the heatsink? That stuff bends and warps easily and once removed its near impossible to paste it back.

Hey bro, last month my friend bought the new Asus laptop, so do we have to manually do the warranty register or the salesman from the shop will do for us anyway?

Not so sure for laptop, but I just know our own smartphones have to do it by ourself lar.
