@@ Is your fans making louder sound compared to when you first bought it ? tried other temperature monitor apps ? Like Pirifom's Speccy.

BTW, do you know how to dissemble your laptop to check for any clogging in the fans?

I just checked at asus website and intel website, Asus N53SN which uses Intel Core i7-2630QM is listed as supported processor in the link you have given. There are also drivers for Intel WiDi in Asus website dedicated for Asus N53SN. biggrin.gif

processor is support but the wireless not support
*
If it is not support, how come Asus Official Website will release the driver for it ? hmm.gif

i think that you mean the wireless adapter right ? that 1 we need to buy separately as it acts as an intermediate between your laptop and your TV

QUOTE(rebornyama @ Feb 24 2012, 08:42 AM)
Hi guys. Have anyone tried running 16 or even 32 GB ram on N53SN? I know 32GB is overkill (lol) but I did heard that some people got BSOD immediately after installing more than 8GB ram.

Thinking of upgrading to 16GB HyperX / Corsair Vengeance soon. soon.. when I get the moneyh... =p
*
32GB RAM ? How can you do that in N53SN ? tongue.gif

For 16GB of RAM, there is totally no problem for it biggrin.gif You can upgrade it but i will personally recommend 12Gb of RAM.

For your last concern, it is not about the more than 8GB which makes the system BSOD, but it is the RAM itself. I mean i have heard that people reports that Some brand of RAM cant fit well with the default Elpida RAM in our N53SN. I personally now using Elpida + Hynix RAM to make it all together 8GB of RAM. So far so good, no problem at all biggrin.gif

Kan? like wadafak how did he do that? 8Gb module where to find?  shocking.gif  [spoiler: xotic customized n53sn]

But on another note, I'm also interested to know if anyone here ever tried installing a backlit keyboard on the N53SN? I've seen a guy @notebook review forum did once before but it seems rather complicated. =p
*
Mind show me the link for 32Gb ram ? hmm.gif

QUOTE(Helldiver @ Feb 28 2012, 12:59 AM)
Hey there guys! I'm looking to seek an alternative to the Zenbook to save costs. I'm still considering the Zenbook, but was thinking I should be more cost efficient a bit and look at the U series.

I've looked at the Asus website and I'm really very confused with all the UXX series, so many different ones ._. very not user friendly website there lol

So I was wondering which one is the most recommended? The most light weight, thin and best performance besides the Zenbook, prices would be appreciated too smile.gif

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response! I've looked that laptop up, it's pretty amazing!
But its HDD is 5400 RPM right? Is there actually a difference between the 7200 RPM and 5400 RPM speeds?
*
Yea it certainly does. But the difference will be hard to notice in normal condition smile.gif BTW, the HDD itself can be replaced and upgraded anytime you want, so i don't think it is a big problem here biggrin.gif

What do you mean by normal condition? O.o

Sorry I'm asking a lot x_x Trying to get my first brand new notebook doh.gif

I read around and many reviews say that it has got problems with it heating up sad.gif
*
Means the difference is not that easily notice smile.gif What's your budget and usage for your brand new laptop actually ? Do you mind having a heavier laptop ?

If you don't mind, you should really have a look on the N-series laptop =)

Got some question. Lets say if i wanna upgrade my ram to 2x4GB=8GB. What speed of ram should i chose for higher bus speed benefit. Can i just buy another one which is different manufacture from the stock one. Or i should buy two new dual channel one and what the speed is the best for my system? Very confuse here what the dual channel thing.
*
It is advised to use identical RAM to avoid any problems that might be encountered sooner or later.

So, if i reformat back with my windows7 premium (dvd that i've burned from this laptop), it shouldn't come up with the bloatware right?
*
Yea, the Dvd recovery you have burnt out is exactly same as your recovery partition, so you will have all those bloatwares preinstalled doh.gif

Has any of you tried overclocking the 550m in N53S? How far can you oc it?
You should just upgrade into two 4gb 1333mhz ram of any brand you like, it's more than enough for a laptop.
*
Yea 8GB of RAM is more than enough actually tongue.gif

Can anyone tells me about the gaming on zenbook ux31 i5 version?
I know ultrabooks aren't meant for gaming but I would like to have some light gaming on it during spare times. Just wondering is it smooth to play Heroes of Newerth and starcraft 2 on it?
*
Light gaming like Plant vs Zombie , Angry Bird ? tongue.gif

I do not think that it is capable of playing starcraft 2 smoothly. But DOTA will be no problem biggrin.gif

BTW, why will you like to play game on such a small screen (11inch) ? sweat.gif
