X42JR user here.

Didn't notice that X series was under this thread even after a year using my laptop.

Anyway, does opening the cover to clean the fan void the warranty?

If you do it carefully, shouldn't void anything laugh.gif

OK. Thanks smile.gif

I heard that Asus has a really bad service center although the build quality is good. hmm.gif

Hey guys.

I'm currently using an Asus X42 which has an easy to remove back cover and I noticed that the vents below the laptop have a black plastic covering them.

My laptop is prone to heating up quickly and I just folded the plastic to allow more airflow and the temp dropped about 8 degrees C.

I'm wondering whether it's the same for the other models and should i remove it?

Which other models? If you think removing the plastic helps with the temperature, then go ahead and remove it. So long as you don't feel like there's something missing or it's an eyesore.

I found a disassembly guide here:

In the first picture, you can clearly see the bottom vents are not covered, in which you can see the hard disk and RAM.

In my case just folding is enough to reduce the temp, so I'm leaving it that way. I wonder why there's a plastic sheet blocking it in the first place if it's just gonna increase the internal temperature hmm.gif
