How much does it cost for the wiring to be changed?
I am using 4mbps package right now,but i am capped at 5120.
It seems that my SNR margin is really low which whoops around 8 to 10db.

Kinda unstable sometimes, but no disconnections so far.
Is it possible to request for a wiring change?
Haha thanks guys!

With correct paperwork, you may get it changed free

Got some simple questions as I am going to upgrade to 4Mbps...

1. Right now I am using 1Mbps (RM88), I don't see this package anymore, if I upgrade to 4Mbps (RM140), that means goodbye RM88 package, can't revert back to this anymore?

2. Is upgrading to 4Mbps just a simple procedure of TM "activating" the speed / simple phone call away? I don't want to fiddle around or change modems.

3. How is it that some get 5Mbps? What do I do to ge this.

4. BB for 4Mbps does it have contract (I doubt so) or minimum subscription period?

*I may not upgrade to 4Mbps if it is going to be a hassle. I just want the speed.

You cannot downgrade within 1 year after upgrade to 4Mb.

I just called 100 and the support personnel ask me to call the installer to check. According to him, my line has 14 days of warranty. If any problem within 14 days I can call the installer to come and check. After 14 days, I have to call 100 to report any problem. Tomorrow will try to call the installer and see.

AjkR06 : Thanks bro for your suggestion,i am still wondering if i change the copper cable will it be better or something? I guess i'll ask 100 see if they use their own copper cable the SNR will raise or not

pigduck : hi there biggrin.gif tmnet gave me 5120,but i don't want it to drop,so i requested them to have a new copper line layout because the current SNR margin for me is arnd 8.0 or so,it's pretty weak.

TM Net took the liberty with my line and reduced it from 5120 to 4096 - sure, I get a better SNR margin now but the speeds only around 1.9-2.5mbps... totally sucky.

So i've been complaining and they've been calling to try and close the case but i'm not allowing it - so the technicians have again taken the liberty to say I should downgrade and CHANGE the wiring in my house - so i've asked the TM guys about rewiring my house since they'd know it best. It should be either or. Not both 'cos that would be totally silly. If they rewire I should be able to keep my data rate at 5120.

But if I downgrade I wouldn't need to change the wiring in my house. They said rats or something have gotten to it but my telephone is still ok. Too bad I want to keep my number. :/

I think it's better if you call 100 first, and asked them to send the technician to your home.
Sometimes, if the problem is lies within the distribution point box at your phone pole (the black box at the phone pole), then changing the cable will not improve the problem actually... usually they will check the DP as well as your cable...

1. I also tried to upgrade to 4mb last year, but due the old copper line, it was not upgraded at that time, so to answer your question, yes, it can be reverted back.

2. It's very simple! I went to TMpoint yesterday morning to ask for upgrade and they said they would send a technician within a week to check my line, later if the the afternoon, on the same day, the technician called to make appointment for this morning. At 830am, he was at my gate, and guess what I am using 4MB speed at the moment! Very efficient service I would say, upgrade to 4mb the day after I applied!

3. They would cap at 5Mbps usually.

4. For me, i dont know, and I am happy to get a 4Mb line after waiting for many years.

You must call 100
I face this before in Penang and it was caused by bad routing in their Penang NOC in Komtar
