I think the truth there is a reason why some get and some dont.

If u can compile all the people who got rejected and accepted u will see a pattern.

But I am sure they are trying to keep some people out.

I am sure those working in the ICA that process PR applicantions signed a non-disclosure contract.

What do you think?

First, the policy is change from time to time, so i suppose the criteria was changed from time to time as well. Unless you're working for them and know exactly all the criteria taken to consider one's application, what is the point doing the compilation?

Second, you work under certain party and you hold the responsibility for leaking out info to public, do you want somebody complain to your boss, hey i match all the criteria, why am i not be chosen? who is the one told you that you're the perfect candidate? Are you going to answer thes one as well ?

Japan always looked good from the outside...once there I saw there was nothing special at all....Living there I felt its pointless after getting past the novelty.

China is the opposite, looks ugly from the outside but actually good when inside.

i believe there is no absolute cooling period but i would suggest you to call up ICA and check with them if you want a firm answer. Just as what i said, ICA is responsible for giving you an accurate answer, 3rd party like us are just giving out "ADVICE" which may or may not be precise.

This is very important for most of us here, also future applicants:
1. How long has you been staying/working in Singapore, since the first job?  2 years
2. What kinda pass are you holding? EP (Q1)
3. Which sector/industry are you in? Construction (engineering design of underground structures)

already PM-ed u the details  tongue.gif

all the best ya!

your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a question.
I understand that there is a cooling period between application for PR which starts from the rejection date, right?
So IF we appeal and got rejected again, the cooling period starts from the application rejection date or appeal rejection date? :S
*
most of the time, it's stated clearly in the letter. mine was stated in the last paragraph in the rejection letter "u may wish to re-apply in 2 years time"...after 1.5 years, i got it tongue.gif

Wow, this is sure a very interesting memo indeed. Have never really encountered that before. I guess they do not want to have any empty office eh. Just curious, what type of industry are you working in?

Anyone with any idea about Exxonmobil Singapore in Pulau Ayer Chawan? It is an integrated refinery and chemical plant in one complex? How is the working environment? Any information about this will be helpful. Thank you !

EM PAC mainly deals with fuels and lubes, EM Chemicals deals with Chemicals while EM Jurong deals with Fuels, Lubes and Chemicals

Something to share with everyone, touching the topic about Singapore earning to spending ratio in comparison to Malaysia, particularly.

http://hantulautan.blogspot.com/2011/04/ma...r-spending.html

Those that have been living there, what do you think? I still think food and public transport cost is cheaper in Singapore. However, the rent as many had mentioned is incredibly high there. If its not because of the currency exchange rate, I would have worked in Malaysia. Its difficult to get a one to one pay in Singapore. I could have earned more but save less if I stay in Malaysia.

Food is definitely cheaper compared to Malaysia and the portion is also bigger.
Used to require 2 servings back in Penang, but here, there are times I could not finish 1 serving. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Nowadays, I spend around 20 dollars for transport a week (no cab)...but back in Malaysia, one tank of petrol is RM70-80 which also lasts about a week. shakehead.gif shakehead.gif
So transport is cheaper, although more time consuming.
I guess we get some, we lose some.

Rent sure is expensive.
My relocation is causing my savings to be stalled. laugh.gif laugh.gif

However, I definitely can save more here...a lot more compared to back in Malaysia.

Not quite accurate to compare the "domestic purchasing power" of Malaysia (as a whole) with Singapore. Simple fact is that there are a LOT of rural areas in Malaysia where a little income equals a lot of domestic purchasing power. In Singapore, a $1500 HDB is "primary accomodation", in Kuala Pilah, a RM300 terrace house is "primary accomodation". If you compare primary accomodation in Singapore vs an area within 25km circumference of KLCC, then you'd find that Singapore is a lot cheaper. I rent a flat for $1300 now and in comparison, I rented a terrace house in PJ for RM1500 7 years ago. To me, rent in Singapore is cheaper.

Some comments on the report. The transparency on what is in the basket to derive the index is of paramount importance. Generally any index that weighs on housing and transport and gealthcare would put Sg at an unfavorable rank. No index is perfect and so is the one put up by ubs. And you will be surprise how "contaminated" the data to derive the index might be when it flows through the info pipeline.
