Hi All,
I'm currently working in Singapore. My company is paying me 1 month relocation salary, 1 month carpe diem + 1 month hotel stay.
I negotiated with the company to pay for my rental deposit and I would stay at the hotel for 1 week.
I WAS supposed to move in tomorrow but the agent just called me last night and told me the landlord backed out with the reason that his parents were hospitalized and he couldn't rent it out to me anymore.
Luckily, I extended my stay with the hotel for another 1 week and I'll be looking for other places to stay with the agent.
Question: Has this ever happened to anyone you know before? The contract was already signed and it seems skewed if the tenant pulls out, the tenant forfeits their deposit but the landlord gets away scot free.
Thanks!
This is just purely my opinion.
I think you can take legal action.
However, the landlord can just allow you to rent like as before if they found out you want to sue them.
Do you still want to go through the hassle and sue?
If not, comes the question, do you still want to stay there with bad blood already in place.
If you decide not to, then this time round, you will be seen as the one pulling out.
