Dont know about genting, but melaka its all the same bus since its mostly if not all express buses.

The ones i know are delima, malacca-singapore express and 707 bus express. The odd one out is 707 since it doesnt stop half way at JB for a "pit stop" but goes directly to melaka without stopping so you dont waste your time at the JB bus stop area. I believe the stop area is yong peng.

thanks crappo for your info. gonna look for more alternate choices.

This is very important for most of us here, also future applicants:
1. How long has you been staying/working in Singapore, since the first job?
2. What kinda pass are you holding?
3. Which sector/industry are you in?

your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
*
Hi, it doesn't matter. You may have heard from different people with different qualification are getting their PR application approved or rejected. For those who got their's approved, they don't care and for those who got rejected, they wouldn't know why are them being rejected. You can call up and make an appointment to appeal, but the result still subject vary. The criteria of accepting you as PR is non-disclose, so i think it's important to submit your application, and APPEAL if got rejected and do not wait for a duration then start apply again. Try to appeal first and get more information from the officer while waiting for re-applied. People may tell you, they're not working long enough and salary range is on the lower group, yet some of them got their application approved sucessfully, so it's like gambling to me but it allow you APPEAL, which providing much info and you could win in the second try. Just my 2 cents.

I have a question.
I understand that there is a cooling period between application for PR which starts from the rejection date, right?
So IF we appeal and got rejected again, the cooling period starts from the application rejection date or appeal rejection date? :S
*
i believe there is no absolute cooling period but i would suggest you to call up ICA and check with them if you want a firm answer. Just as what i said, ICA is responsible for giving you an accurate answer, 3rd party like us are just giving out "ADVICE" which may or may not be precise.

I think the truth there is a reason why some get and some dont.

If u can compile all the people who got rejected and accepted u will see a pattern.

But I am sure they are trying to keep some people out.

I am sure those working in the ICA that process PR applicantions signed a non-disclosure contract.

What do you think?
*
First, the policy is change from time to time, so i suppose the criteria was changed from time to time as well. Unless you're working for them and know exactly all the criteria taken to consider one's application, what is the point doing the compilation?

Second, you work under certain party and you hold the responsibility for leaking out info to public, do you want somebody complain to your boss, hey i match all the criteria, why am i not be chosen? who is the one told you that you're the perfect candidate? Are you going to answer thes one as well ?

Actually i suspect sg differentiate the passes to differentiate the people
I also think its much easier for ep to get pr compared to the other classes. I also think right now it's almost impossible/very rare for wpass to get pr
Like to know other's thoughts?
*
To me, it doesn't really matter. As long as you fulfill the basic criteria and you can proceed to apply. Chances of being accepted are equal to all applicant that meeting the criteria, then after that is all depend on the one who approved your application. Imagine that there are a large pool of people is applying for it, lets say 1000 people is meeting the criteria but they have quota of about 500 people, would they look into the applicant background again or they just randomly choose? If they don't like your face and don't like you name, can they failed your application as well? Nobody know right? I would just say apply and wait for the result, if rejected just appeal and go for another round of application if it failed as well.

As far as I know, EP does play a major factor when applying for PR..based on many friends of mine that applied. For them, WP is kinda like low labor, they only treats those at least with EP as professionals. Another factor is of course where are you from. Sad to say (or good for us), they do prefer Malaysians due to similar background and culture. Few other factors such as, your age, what industry are you in, marital status, and your qualifications..

I have two friends with similar backgrounds in terms of qualifications, age and gender. A worked in SG for 2 years with WP ($2k+) B worked for 6 months with EP (close to $3k). They both applied at the same time. A was rejected but B got his PR.
*
well..i hold the same status as your friend B but could you tell me why i got rejected 2 year back? I even see those people having same background, holding managerial post and with bigger salary and even with family....got rejected..... that's why i stress on the fact that as long as you matching the criteria, you can apply. The result will be unknown unless you done that. Of course they do some filtering but the pool of people matching criteria is much bigger that the quota, so what would they do next, are you sure the measure taken at this stage? If you're guessing you simply just mislead the people here. If you're saying ep and sp make a difference i have a good example which my colleague having sp & same salary range & apply at the same time but got it sucessfully while i got mine reject. Just my 2 cents.

Hi Ivanlmh,

Please do not get my point wrong, i know that process of PR application is being stricten since 2009 but the criteria used to filter the applicant is undisclosed so if you asking your friends info and used it to jedge why are them being accepted/rejected is totally nonsense since you're not in the position. So i didn't mention anything about quallification/backgroung/etc....

As a person responsible to yourself, one should always seek for continuous improvement and development, we don't improve ourself just to apply PR. Instead of improving qualification i will say improving capability having better opportunity, but we never know whether it gonna benefit us or not, and by how much?? None of us can provide that info right? My colleague tell me he can't buy a house now, so he will work hard and get more money, but the house prices is going up at the same time as well, so?

Things don't happen without doing any thing, assuming doesn't things done. I got mine, and wish all of you luck applying that

they also don't give you the reason why you get rejected right?
i'm going to send in my PR application, hope for the best, but also need to be prepared to get rejected..
if there's no reason when rejected, it's like kinda lost, don't know what to fix when re-applying oh ~  sad.gif
okie thx for the advice.. do they also have lockers around?
am afraid if i bring my dslr then they ask me to leave it outside  shakehead.gif

Hi Paranoid,

Upon submitting your application form, you will get a letter of acknowledgement and it state that you'll be informed result of application within 2 months time, if you do not get any letter of acceptance/rejection within 2 month, you may give ICA a call to check your application status. No reason is stated in the rejection letter and then time frame of re-apply may or may not stated in the letter. Perhaps you may want to make a call to inquire the appeal process and talk the officer why're you being rejected(if they want to tell you?)? IMO, appeal first before submitting second application.

Hey guys,

I will soon start work in Sg located at Serangoon. My sister have been staying in Novena area and is looking to find another HDB to rent. She's working at Changi.

Any recommendations of places to rent that can suit both my sister (Changi) and I (Serangoon north Ave)?

A friend suggested Tampines or Simei. Is it a good idea?

Maybe you should try looking at the bus service? It seem a bit troublesome if you want to take MRT. You will need to switch from green to yellow line, if you're ok with that, or even you have your own transport, i guess it won't be a problem for you as well.

Actually speaking of MRT/Bus ... how do you guys define "elderly?" sometimes i sit i see some auntie or uncle and I can't decide whether they qualify for 'elderly' ... so dunno should get up or not haha.
*
If you can't decide to give up your seat, more likely that you still feel that that're not senior enought yo have the seat from you. I will give up my seat to whoever that seem need it more than i do, you're like just feeling guilty for not letting the one who need it to have the seat or perhaps afraid yourself got posted up on STOMP?

The trick is to spend (when you now draw 10K), the way you did when you were only drawing 2K. This is difficult to do, and not smart when it comes to food and time-saving transport... but for eg, you don't need to pay double the rental for a private condo when a HDB will do just fine.

Easier said than done. Me and all my friends tried this at one point or another in our career but all crash and burn our budget sweat.gif U need to be have a mind like a spartan!

Hey guys, i went thru some of the job application in jobstreet, many of it indicated that they want singaporeans or pingapore pr in their jobs.

Is it true that most of the big company think twice before hiring people from malaysia?

Thx
*
Never try, never know. If the employer need your skill, somehow they will still find a way to hire you.

From people with SPM qualifications only...to people with Master qualification.
Nobody seem to have difficulties. Unless they are picky with what's offered.

Luck and effort come together when you're looking for jobs, it just come in at the right time. What do you think about the unemployed rate globally?
