QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 21 2010, 10:42 PM)

The moment you withdraw cash using CC, there will be an upfront fee imposed, can't remeber the % as I don't practice withdrawing cash with CC. Go read T&C. And you be charged daily interest based on 18% until the full amount is settled. Therefore with the upfront fee and daily interest, the actual interest you pay when annualized is damn high. Never take cash with CC, it the 1st step to the shit hole.
*
Also, if you just pay minimum fee of 5% per month, you will be charged for finance fee (interest) on top of your total remaining balance of retail purchase, petrol purchase and cash advance. that's leads into deeper debt trap.

By right the original receipt should show the 2% surcharge also....otherwise the worker can take the money for himself...  sweat.gif

The shop will never do this (same goes to any merchant anywhere in the world) because it will clearly provide proof to the bank and to MC/VISA International that a surcharge was imposed due to the use of the cc and therefore the merchant has violated their T&C with the bank and MC/VISA International. That's why surcharges are always lumped together with the base price.

There's a hefty penalty imposed to the merchant if there's a violation to the T&C. And the banks /VISA/MC International have a no nonsense attitude to this violation.

Not that I agreed nor diasgree with the surharge but what is there to complain? By signing on the transaction slip your friend have agreed to the amount. Nobody force him to accept the surcharge. He has the option not to purchase the item.

I bought a 23" LED last month at ALL IT, the saleman wanted to charge me extra 2% and I said no such thing as there was no mentioned of Cash Price Only on the item and in the end he agreed no surcharge. However I have paid 2% surcharge at certain merchants when I was being told upfront the price was Cash Price or there is a sign stating Cash Only prior to me agreeing on the price.

I agree with Hye on this. by right my friend is agreed on the surcharge that is why he paid the extra 2%. once he discussed with me I was thinking whether we can lodge a complaint based on discrepancy of the original receipt and transaction slip. where the original receipt showed RM1550 and the slip showed RM1581. of course the original receipt did not showed any cost on the surcharge which can be a clear evidence for report.

CIMB has not joined the fray yet. But CIMB has successfully gained its market share by simply increasing CL and approving premium cards like WMC and VI.
Somebody here mentioned that MBB offered him free 10,000 points to offset the service tax when he intended to terminate his card.
*
MBB will offer you 10,000 points if you terminate the CC.

I think no one has ever tried it yet. You may not get the rebate as that may consider as departmental purchase. You want to be the first one?
Normally I only purchase directly from the supermarket of what I need even at the last weekend and still get the rebates.

His main concern is whether the 20% cashback valid for Jusco voucher or not.

I think you maybe hard to get answer here as not many frequent forumers holding Ambank card over here (based on their discussion topics). Instead of Jusco, go to C4, Tesco or Giant to purchase those stuff at 1st weekend. Very high chance to get 20% cashback. Only RM400 spent.

I asked this question to CS few months ago, and they are not very sure that time.
Maybe you can call CS again?

Regardless what benefits the card has? Or any card that doesn't suit your lifestyle as long as RM50 is waived?
I think these are also things you need to consider.

A lot of people here is holding DA card as it is free for life (I think you are eligible as you have PTPTN). But I'm not sure whether they will waive the RM50 GST for first time application or not. I believe someone can answer that.
