Guys I wanna apply for one credit card, with only one condition that RM50 waived
*
So far, I heard the banks that offer GST waived or cash rebate (with some conditions) are SCB, Citi, UOB, Public, MBF, and RHB.
I would think RM50 waived is just to attract you. It still depends on the card's advantages/benefits for long term. If you go to each bank's website and check it out, you can have better decision on choosing the right card instead of asking a general question here as everyone will give you different opinions. Different cards for different needs.

Since you are a new applicant, you might easily get into credit card debts if you don't educate yourself enough on credit cards.

Recently National Cards Group is educating people on credit cards by providing advices to cardholder, something like Swipe Smart 6E. I'll advice you to go through it.
SS6E

And I suggest the first page can place such information.

A lot of people here is holding DA card as it is free for life (I think you are eligible as you have PTPTN). But I'm not sure whether they will waive the RM50 GST for first time application or not. I believe someone can answer that.

Er, sorry for the silly question, what is mean by DA card?

NO and NO. PTPTN is not the requirement but DEGREE. studying diploma also can apply PTPTN. and DA never waived RM50 gst for new application.

MBB will offer you 10,000 points if you terminate the CC. is it the same with HSBC?  hmm.gif
*
NO. HSBC wont give free points, and their points for GST is only 9500.

Different saying but serve the same purpose. Maybe the bank cannot say GST waived (so they use the word ‘rebate’), but to us, it is like GST waived.

Opps…you are right about PTPTN, studying diploma also can apply. Maybe I jump into conclusion too fast. Since this is his first CC application and his salary is considered high for a new guy (also I assume as he asked general question). So I thought he might be holding a degree.

Added on November 23, 2010, 11:12 amSomething to share for ocbc titanium statement. I just know that 1% rebate is capped at RM20 sad.gif however the 5% is capped at Rm 100 until 31 Dec this year. Next year the rebate will be combined and capped at RM50. If you need to know which transaction entitle for 5% rebate, you have to call the customer service and ask them one by one like I did sweat.gif Overall I am happy to use this card as I'm getting more rebate than my other cards. smile.gif

From my point of view, normally they will ask for supporting document of proof of income as the minimum income for Cash Back cc is RM48k/annum & generic platinum cc is RM100k/annum. nod.gif

Anyway, why not just give the CS a call to try out, no harm maa... icon_idea.gif
