If other banks' cc also employ Evergreen Reward point programme, I bet Citibank will lose some market share.
CIMB/DA cards offer great benefits/rebates, but the worst drawback is its 3-year point expiry period.
SCB also has great dining privileges, but potential applicants could be held back by non-evergreen points.

However, it all depends on the spending amount within this 3 years. Let say the smallest redemption is worth 10,000 pts, which means you gotta spend (10,000 / 36 = RM277.77) per month to gather 10k points before it goes expired.

If i have 2 credit cards from the EON bank, the bonus point Rm1 = 1 point will be combined or seperate points for each card.

I already have citibank cash back platinum and wanted to apply citibank platinum card.

For a second card without credit limit increase, then no.

Citibank uses customer credit limit. Basically you just have to remember the card with the highest credit limit. That would be your total usable credit limit.

Not for me, I've been a Maybank CC owner since 2002 with almost a 6-figure credit limit and 5-figure expenditure every year. They didn't blink when I said I'd like to cancel because I didn't want to pay GST so I cancelled. The gorgeous customer service lady at their 1U branch said management usually doesn't budge when threatened with cancellations and they had no power to do anything about it.

Good luck to you when trying.

Same goes to me because I think that upon cancelling the AMEX, I'm still holding Visa Petronas.

Gentlemen

Can we be more careful about using the term "threatening" the banks when it come to the GST subject? Already there has been a reader who want to only apply a card with the GST "waived" or else. And slowly the past few replies have been circling around "threatening" the banks to waive the GST.

IMHO ... I don't think we are setting the right example here in this forum and let's be more responsible for what we say. This thread was originally created to educate reader on good credit card consumer management and definitely not how to arm twist the banks about getting your own way. I have no issues about getting our value for money but to this extent then I don't think it's appropriate anymore.

Largest credit card issuer in Malaysia is Citibank. Followed by Maybank and CIMB.
MBB had all along was the largest local credit card issuer.
CIMB card base grew because of Southern Bank acquisition, back then CIMB cards (a few years back) were something you wanted to avoid.

If you don't like the term "threatening", perhaps you could think of it as "negotiating".

"negotiating" includes the "or else" and "arm twist the banks", metaphorically speaking only, and nothing illegal, of course. And that's a perfectly valid thing to do.

Mm...this doesn't look like Citi. Normally they will offer you if you swipe certain amount or few times within weeks, they will waive the Annual fees and give you cash rebate.

But I think these kind of co-brand cards will 'die' very soon, as it cannot beat certain cashback card.

The bank did provide several solutions to me.
Either spend RM2k in 2 months' time OR subscribe to one Autopay service will do. At that time it was impossible for me to fulfill either one condition.

Talking about cancellation of Shell card recently, the bank did not even advise/persuade me, straight away proceed shocking.gif OK lor, cancel then cancel lor biggrin.gif
