Maybank and Citibank always do that. Two cards mean you'll have to pay RM100 for credit card tax  doh.gif
*
yeah, just they have called me to pick it up.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Nov 3 2010, 12:28 AM)
Better cancel them if you don't need them. Ask for the GST waiver
*
maybe, i want visa only as backup

QUOTE(de.crystal @ Nov 3 2010, 09:56 AM)

I doubt that.  I guess that's the SA, who was desperate.  I barely remember when i applied for my housing loan, i was asked to sign some forms (1 of which, is CC application form and of course, I refused to sign it).
*
Nope, i didn't signed any forms aside then car loan agreement. Perhaps, due to my salary was credited to tiger bank. i guess it was pre-approved card.
FYI, i'm non-muslim. I wonder why they give me islamic cc.

Because they are looking at increasing Maybank Islamic credit card users base.
*
Maybe, due to some limitation of Islamic card, it was not popular. the good thing is separate credit limit for these.
just aware of some shop' terminal can't accept Islamic card. so be ready with backup card. LOL

The statement come first before your CC arrive?
*
Not exactly called statement since i never receive any card statement from maybank but when i checked M2U , the cards account appears just days before they called me to come and collect at the branch. In fact, i don't get any call from them offering pre-approval card. aside then, many moons ago they have called me to offer Amex Gold Card. . It's simply appeared on my M2U after my car loan with Tiger Bank was approved.

Plus, they have given 2 card , Visa and Amex Ikhwan to me.

Just in time for Amex promo 15% cashback for Christmas. LOL. thumbup.gif

1,000 ESSO points = RM15 fuel actually, equivalent to additional 1.5% cash back. Every RM1 spent at ESSO will give you x1 ESSO reward point.
*
QUOTE(Gen-X @ Nov 18 2010, 09:11 AM)
1000 smile points = RM15 petrol
*
I see, thanks for correction and the smile points will not expired with minimum transaction per year if i'm not mistaken. not like Petronas Mesra point, will expire. Do petronas' own mesra point do have on the spot fuel redemption?

It would be better if you use ESSO, because Petronas gives 0.5 point only for every RM1 spent.
*
Exactly, I already switched to esso/mobil . If i'm not mistaken, maybankard petronas card holder will get 10x of TP for pumping on every Tuesday. there was a posting mentioning this in this thread

You could report to BNM. Best to get a CCRIS report and see whether there are any credit facilities that do not belong to you
*
Should get CCRIS report annually even without unknown credit facilities to check your credit heatlh. Just a simple 30 min task, i believe

Less then 30 minutes once you're inside BNM. In fact, you can get everything done in less than 3 minutes  smile.gif

*
That's correct, just slot your MyKad into the provided computer terminal and print it out. All self service, if you have any query regrading your CCRIS, can approach the BNM officer and explain what is your CCRIS current status. tongue.gif

before heading to BNM, could go to nearest bank that you have an account with & ask the counter staff to verify your IC/thumb can be read by the device as BNM are using the similar device
That's is known account with your known bank for credit card, loan. what if unknown credit account in your name?
IHMO, Pay a visit to BNM annually to get CCRIS reports is best choice. It doesn't waste so much time.

OT, after that, can go to sogo with CIMB or Amex card after getting the report. it's year end. i believe there got promo in sogo

No. They will not waive the RM50 credit card tax and there is nothing you can do.

QUOTE(ronnie @ Nov 21 2010, 02:41 AM)
Don't you know that everyone who applies for Credit Card beginning Jan 2010, needs to pay the RM50 Credit Card Govt Service Tax
*
Especially, those GLC banks won't waive the tax when you firstly applied for CC because it will go against the Big boss(Govt)

MBB has already started to grant free 10,000 points for customers to offset the RM50 service tax.
*
Do they grant it for new applicant? perhaps, they do that to attracts new customer.
maybe, this is new cc war being waged after SCB, HLB starts doing it.

err.. dont think MBB will do that? sweat.gif
*
Exactly, for first applicant for cc, very seldom will get any rebate or waiver from GLC bank.

IHMO, i think they wants to retain user and perhaps, it's just they decide on case by case status.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Nov 21 2010, 08:53 PM)

Yes they do. To be frank. If you cannot afford RM50, you shouldn't use/hold the card at all. If you are looking for a waiver/rebate, just treat it as a credit next month if you get it.
*
Indeed, just think it as annual fee. tongue.gif

QUOTE(fuzzyguy @ Nov 21 2010, 10:12 PM)
hey guys,

I got a question regarding cash advance actually. Can anyone help me out?
I know the interest rate for cash advance is 18%pa. Let say, if I withdraw 2000 today, how is the interest be calculated? Do I need to pay back the lump sum of 2000+interest before the coming bill due date? Thanks
*
the interest is calculated daily basis until you finish paying the cash advance. Bear in mind, it got cash advance fee of 5% imposed first.
