Whoa! Fring video calling over 3G/HSDPA works pretty well..

I just had a nice video conversation with my friend on Maxis network (I'm on Digi).

P/S Something us SGS users can do that HTC Desire users can't, haha..

nice one buddy! haha does it lag ? hows the quality? rclxms.gif does the other person need a fring as well or it goes to their normal phones?

don't use Google maps unless u have unlimited data plan...

Google maps use data, which will suck u wallet dry....

I use both..... Papago X5 n Ndrive10-> not at same time, of course.

ill try it. notworthy.gif

Very slight lag, but definitely better video and audio quality than the normal Digi-Digi video call.

I didn't enable MSN, Yahoo, ICQ or GTalk protocols in Fring, so my video call was to another Fring user (also using SGS, but on Maxis 3G).

I think calls from Fring to normal phones are supported (not sure audio only or video also), but needs $$.

Sorry for bringing out the old thread discussion from V2...
Just wondering where someone mentioned on the "samsung hdmi cable microusb to hdmi" cable...
and mengsuan replied...
May i know which Nokia Cable? HDMI output or just normal Composite Cable? where to get? any sellers here in this forum??
*
Composite cable. The output that we can get out of SGS at the moment is not digital high definition yet.

Wow, great to see someone having even better battery life than I have.

Hi guys,

I always leave my sgs plug in charger when I sleep.

I see some forumers talking about over charging.

May I know what are the effects of over charging?

Many thanks.

So basically, only use 3G if you want to:
- Make video calls.
- Download some shit fast.
- Teethering.

For just regular chats and notifications, 2G is enough. laugh.gif

ok, here is my suggestion, seeing you have flashing many times before, do the wipe battstat method, i did this after every flash, or a week or two of usage. and i getting good batt life, really good in my opinion,
easier method: find root explorer or any explorer that can go into the system folder, then just navigate to /data/system/ and delete the batterystats.bin its the same thing, but still do the charging though, for my way, i charge until it full first, delete, then charge with turn on until full, turn off then charge until full,

reason for doing this: its no use what power you battery have, if it thinks it have less power, then it will shutdown, this is wipe the memory of phone about the battery, so the real power is shown. i say this greatly improve my battery.

another thing to remember is the usage, maybe you dont do calls, dont do sms or gaming much, but how about the data connectivity? wifi? how often you turn on your display, and are yous sure you off the gps or not. this suck batt as well.

ow, and do remember that your launcher also sucks batt, i've use LG optimus launcher and my phone only last half of the day, it sucks 5% or so in one hour

I'm using astro file manager and I don't find anything under /data. My sgs is rooted and I've enabled the show hidden files option as well. Anything I'm doing wrong?

Not really a problem, most batteries if not all have a circuit inside them that cuts off when the battery reaches a certain voltage level to prevent the battery from being over charged. i think most people charge their phones over night, besides it takes at least 3hrs for it to be fully charge

Samsung galaxy support Skype only when you have Froyo. this is confirmed.
someone using froyo on their SGS and it worked. so lets wait for the official release or you may
flash and root to the unofficial firmware. icon_rolleyes.gif

This I know, mate.
But its quite disappointing to say the least.
I don't really feel like using beta or test firmware.
But if beta apps, I'd give it a try any day. BTW Whatsapp rules!
