Only 1.6?? SE take very long time to port 2.1 into X10 and now i think this phone will never get the gingerbread update from google.
i hope it have capacitive screen, no more hardware limit that force user to used it as resistive screen unit,
if not shame on you SE...

by the time it launch, already to 2.1. X10 mini and X10 is getting 2.1 in Q4 anyway. Called SE malaysia, they confirmed that.

Mean while... enjoy the video in youtube. You can see the Yendo Walkman version too... I'm waiting for the X8 instead.

as far as I know, they all are capacitive type. You can see the them from the video.

SE really make me so dissapointed....x10 nice spec phone but running 1.6 haiz...

Previously on this blog we communicated that we will update our 2010 Xperia phones (Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro) to Android OS 2.1 in Q4. We are today happy to confirm that all of these phones will now get the update to Android 2.1 from the latter part of Q3 and onwards (timing will vary from market to market, some will be in Q4. Today we are also introducing a brand new member to the 2010 Xperia line-up, Xperia X8. This phone takes the best from Xperia X10 and the mini products into a new price point (under 200 Euro Retail) that will give consumers a greater choice and attract a new audience for touch screen Android phones. The user interface is similar to that of the Xperia™ X10 mini, with the four-corners that give easy one hand use and can be customised for one touch access to your favourite applications. i know it have capacitive screen but can it support multi touch? X10 although have capacitive screen, it doesnt support
multitouch at all...

3.2MP camera is relly a downgrade, even worse than 5MP from mini
for the 3" screen, its acceptable la, as SE already mention, this phone is in between x10(4") & x10 mini(2.55"), so get x10 if u want big screen..
but its really slow for SE to upgrade to 2.1 or even 2.2, i think its becos it take alot of time for SE to modify it, as u can see the android on x10 is much different from others...

you mean like those pinch effect to zoom in and out? Well.. sometimes I wonder, even though this capability looks fancy and cool but we need to put the phone down on a table or something. We cant use one hand to do multi touch can we? and thats defeat the purpose of a phone actually.

But I do agree when the phone gets bigger like the X10, it should have that technology. But the X10 mini and X8, hmmmm perhaps the single finger type as develope by SE is much better choice for zooming in and out. See the video below.

i assume its price will be around RM 1.4-1.5k, which is similar to the price of vivaz now, and by the time x8 launch, vivaz's price may drop to 1.2-1.3k, but vivaz have much better spec in hardware, so, unless u want android, its better to get vivaz.

In tech world.. One year got 4 Quarters, Q1(Jan-Mar), Q2(Apr-Jun), Q3(Jul-Sept) and Q4(Oct-Dec)..
So, around October to December or Q4, those SE phone will have upgrade to Eclair.. Does it OK to u??

just read the news on GSM Arena, the estimate price will be <200 euro, means <RM800? since the euro keep droping, the price might be even lower when it launch... even cheaper than mini

SE Android are all using capacitive touchscreen already, what are you talking about? But I agree, they have to be really stupid to even consider 1.6, let alone release it with that version, they should be looking at gingerbread or at the very least froyo instead. Those crazy Eurasians are really screwing it up for themselves

after X2, i never come back for Sony Ericcson phone .

they build crap. and their product is no QA at all.

K850 got the touch screen prob.
C905 got the ear piece prob.
X2 damn lagging.

Yeah, understand your frustration. Some people have no luck with certain brands. And it doesn't help when you choose problematic phones to begin with. X10 on the other hand is not problematic but a victim of SE's snail pace development

about RM800++ for an AP set, depends on the shop. Galaxy 5 screen is slightly bigger than X8, and i think it use eclair 2.0 or froyo 2.1 if i'm not mistaken. mine is installed with 1.6 donut. i bought this one because i love the look and shape

X8 using msm7227 600MHz which is using Adreno GPU........but the GPU model is unknown
some said that is same GPU with Desire

but Desire is using Snapdragon

Snapdragon and msm are Qualcomm products.........both using GPU called Adreno
QSD(Qualcomm Snapdragon) using Adreno 200
Qualcomm official claim the msm7227 is using Adreno, but dint mention which model

The color of the screen not very good (I expected this, as android 1.6 only supported to 64K.... now is waiting SE to update the software)
The Phone will lag for first 2-3min, after that the speed is quit good.

Bettery... full charge at early morning until everning (7pm) still got more then half bar (% not sure) --- no heavy use, only download apps, receive call and call out...

other not sure yet, as still exploring the phone...

Succesfully remove:
1. viva news app (not using).
2. original gps app (consume big space), then install papago x5 + maps (trial mode but so far no problem.. don't know when it'll expire).
3. unnecessary bundled games.

now thinking is it safe to remove chinese keyboard app (also taking huge space) because i rather use 'skinned' better keyboard.

Anybody tried that?

root will void the warranty. it can be un-root, but haven't tried yet.
the only reason I go root is to reclaim storage.

I have buy the screen protector from antho1 (just RM5), but is not (very very) perfect fit, still got 1mm space not cover.

Back cover also can't find yet, I think is because the phone is not launch in Malaysia yet....

Anybody using the Compass app? Last time I'm using compass and it's ok. But now only pointing to north no movement for almost 15 mins. Is it require GPS to be enable first? Or the magnetometer can work independently?
