hi all. new x8 user here. bought from one forumer. pengguna windows mobile yg tegar sebelum ini (currently still using wm).

first experience of android:
1. the os feels light weight
2. complicated file system (oppose to wm, yes i know it is linux)
3. so much app. too much perhaps. funny, none of them could match the one in wm (or i still need to hunt more?)
4. papago app 150+Mb? wallawei... other option?

ok noob (stupid) questions:
1. how do i know my x8 is rooted or not?
2. why my market only show free app?
3. why those app contain adv? even while playing angry bird, i can't focus. sick...
4. more to come

2nd day of x8 experience. playing all night with this device.
1. install ADW launcher, gone the fugly se interface. can cramp all my widget in one page. yey!
2. install Adv Task Killer. wonder why RoadSync and Music Player always appear on the list?
3. install papago x5. frankly, garmin is way better.
4. i had this problem, i dont want threaded sms, yet no single android app can help. windows mobile need 1 registry modification to do the job. what a shame.
5. camera is laughing stock.
6. angry bird is good. slice it is even better.
7. battery life could be better.

correct me if i'm wrong, the objective of rooting is to enable some application which need 'elevated' authority for it to work (such as app2sd). other then that, what is rooting for?

now at 1.6 rooted. next, the hard part.

3rd day of x8 experience:
1. 2.1 root! but not yet jit. need to study how.
2. roadsync is gone. thanks to titanium backup!
3. app2sd how to use? always ask me to fix my sd card. need to format?
4. why music player always appear in running app?
5. how to change x8 blue/balck theme?

sos tiram illustrated rooting procedure is a great guide. since we live in community, hope you don't mind my comment:
- need to add to pre-requisite: download & install SEUS (for the driver)
- please include superoneclick 1.6 rooting tools

need help. papago x5 fail to work on this rom. it crash after displaying the papago logo.

camera360 is one good app. now how to set it to be default camera app?

nope. long press camera button did not asked me. tapping shortcut is OK with me.

as for papago, got myself a trial with sygic mobile map, but the map is not updated (nov '08).
then, come sygic aura, with 3d buildings. still under testing.

any answer why papago failed?

*haven't use 3g connection yet. for now all wifi.

i believe those app running in background might also effect on battery life as well.

and i don't understand, x8 is equip with light sensor right? how to enable/disable/set auto it?

probably wrong driver installed. i've similar problem before. try download and install both SEUS and PC companion.

those 2 will install correct driver for x8. in my case, i've downloaded a file named x8 driver but failed to work during flashing (refer my post #336).

Sos, I did use this method. But I feel it affect some part of x8 performance. So I decide to disable it. Restart and freeze at se logo. Unlucky, I have no backup. Reflash all over again.

I don't know maybe I made some mistake somewhere. Anybody with success story perhaps can share his.

papago x5 does not work with current x8 rooted 2.1... try sygic aura instead...

get hi res wallpaper, at least 640x480. higher res is better. if you dont want cropping, just resize the crop box to fit your entire image. yes it can resize, drag the corner.

Ah I believe u want to make it static wallpaper. I think android will still require 'landscape' picture (rather than 'potrait'). Good if you can study on this and share the findings.

2 days now after last charge. on light usage. not bad.

raup88, i bought x8 (it actual model number is e15i) to test out android os. my comment:

x8 is better:
1. android based
2. wifi!
3. got gps
4. compass (yes it have. you can use it to check arah kiblat also if lost in hutan.)
4.5. accelerometer (uh, is this an advantage?)
5. bigger screen
6. thousands of free app and games
7. unlimited customization (no one is using the stock home screen. guys, admit it.)

k770i is better:
1. physical keypad (using touchscreen while driving is hard. really.)
2. better camera plus flash
3. front facing camera for vid call.
4. better battery life


if you can afford that, x8 is a good option.

*i would sell mine if the price is right...

scroll to contacts storage >> clear data
