TBH, running a semicon fab is tough. It costs about USD 3B to build and run a 45nm fab: AFAIK only Intel and TSMC (Taiwan) make money from their fabs, the rest all bleeding cash.

The Arabs might have brought the place, but its still the China-man calling the shots. The Arabs only got money but don't know how to run the place.  sweat.gif

Then let them bleed for not making a sound financial decision, plus the management is till china-man and screwing everybody around. They got their oil money to cushion the losses.

I'm trying to rephrase your sentences.
You came to Singapore with a social visit pass. Subsequently you obtained a long term social visit pass. Thereafter, you were awarded with a job and I assumed you are given either a WP or EP. Why do you need to extend your stay when you have valid documents to continue to stay on?  rclxub.gif

Another way of reading your queries is that now you have a LTVP and a EP, you are unsure if you can carry both. If i'm not wrong, right thing to do is, when you exit SG, you are suppose to hand over the LTVP and inform the officer that you obtained a EP. Check the ICA website or call them.

sorry if I've confused you all. I was saying IF, it was a presumption.
at the moment they are still processing my work permit. when it is issued, my plan is directly rent a room there, take the permit and waiting for commencement date without going back to msia again.
my concern now is I will be going to singapore without work permit, so at the sgp custom, I am not sure what should write for period of staying, 1 year? (i'll be getting 1 year permit) but will they prevent me from entering?

1 thing is, do u have ur in-principle approval letter? if yes, then just tell them u come to collect permit, they will allow u to stay in SG for 30 days and u can cont stay there after u collect ur permit.

This is what I understand so far:
1. You are in MY right now. You have a job waiting in SG.
2. Your boss in SG is applying work permit for you (under processing).
3. You are coming down to SG. Not sure what to write for 'stay duration' in white card (IMM27A).

You cannot write 1 year, sure ICA will question you.
Just write 30 days, when you go to MOM to hand-in the documents for work permit (in-approval letter, uni cert etc) MOM will stamp your white card. If you need to leave SG during this time, show this stamped white card to ICA, they will know what to do.
When you go to collect your work permit, MOM will keep the white card. Now you don't need white card anymore for entry/exit.

Your in-approval letter will state the documents you need to provide to MOM. The white card is one of those documents.

thx for fast reply,

wow dat means 400-600SGD bo liao every mth?

thats quite high cost
*
I thot u shd have factor in this cost when u accept the offer?
Well, most of the forumers here went SG as a normal employee with EP, (soon, me too), except for some of ppl here, who mentioned that they are expat package.
So unless u think u have good skills with high demand, otherwise, nobody will give u expat package, while they can get it cheaper locally.

With so many people queuing and owning an LV bag, its exclusivity factor goes down the drain. If you want something more exclusive in singapore, get burberry blue label. Only japan sells this line of burberry products, got my mom a handbag over there.
*
The blue label is catered to Japan's market based on their taste and style. It does not 'increase' the exclusive/luxury factor towards the brand. They can also be purchased online or smaller shops in HK or TW.

Its not the luxury of the particular item but availability of it in a certain region. You dont see many people have that particular brand, since its an offshoot of a particular brand, its not so common in singapore whereas every tom, d***, harry and sally has an LV product on them in some shape or form. Its become so generic that it loses its appeal as a exclusive item where the rich can only afford if its common place to see it everywhere.

need to ask u all something, is there a website/forum where i can find room to rent and share the whole unit with other bunch of tenants in SG without going through agent? Most room-for-rent ads need to go through agents and most likely to stay with owners.

Well LV is one of the most popular brand for fakes. Further, the price for most of the much loved designs by LV, Burberry, Gucci, Prada are not beyond the reach of the less/mid income earners.

I am having problems with this as well. So far I use Roomsdb.net, Easyroommate.sg, Share Accomodation and Flathub...its been very hard to find also. Previously I used Sg-house managed to find quite a few non-agent ads but nowadays through sheer volume, agent ads have flooded most of these sites that it's become virtually impossible to find and connect with people who are renting out directly.

If possible I would also like to find houses...preferbly ones that don't have to stay with owners. Blessed when are you going over to Sg to work?

I am also looking for a place now . I found my previous place using the newspaper classifieds and even went to craigslist to scout for plces. Like u mention a lot of these guys are agents and manyare co-broke which makes it worse. I m thinking of staying put in SK but a 2+1 unit already cost about 1.4k, cant imagine places like Tampines and Paris Ris.

Should be ok around those areas. Theres a few places i know (all occupied) in pasir ris near a school and around 10-15 min walk to the mrt where the going rate is around 2k for a executive hdb 4 room with a rather large living room.

Staying in JB can be another viable solution to finding a place to stay. At the very least, a temporary place before finding an ideal place in singapore. Only thing is, you'd have to bear with the daily transit.
