need advices on hunting job at sg. I went through jobstreet and most jobs advertised indicate sgporean or sg PRs need to apply. Is that meant a malaysian residing in malaysia don't ever bother to apply coz eventually the application will be ignored?

No lah... it's just a standard phrase in job ads.

But you have to realise also that if the kind of job being advertised can attract a good number of local applicants, chances are that the employer will not waste time to consider any foreigners.

You're in KL right? Just fly down using AirAsia, Tiger, Jetstar or Firefly on Friday (I think there's over 30-40 flights each day in total and quite cheap) and take a taxi from the airport to the interview. If you fly in early, go there first and ask if they can interview earlier. If they can, great. If they can't, then just go to a nearby McDs/shopping mall and hang around until it's time.

my interview location at changi airport actually biggrin.gif problem solved. thanks ya

Generally pasir ris and tampines are cheap compared to those closer to the city centre.

You can get a 4 bed room executive apartment for $1900.
*
which means if i rent one single room it would be around 400?

Can I extend my period of staying in singapore? If I entered singapore without employment pass and rented a room living there, then obtained the pass(1 year pass) few days later, then started working, how should I extend my period of staying?
or I have to take the employment pass, take a bus leave singapore custom then go in singapore with employment pass again? :S

I'm trying to rephrase your sentences.
You came to Singapore with a social visit pass. Subsequently you obtained a long term social visit pass. Thereafter, you were awarded with a job and I assumed you are given either a WP or EP. Why do you need to extend your stay when you have valid documents to continue to stay on?  rclxub.gif

Another way of reading your queries is that now you have a LTVP and a EP, you are unsure if you can carry both. If i'm not wrong, right thing to do is, when you exit SG, you are suppose to hand over the LTVP and inform the officer that you obtained a EP. Check the ICA website or call them.
*
sorry if I've confused you all. I was saying IF, it was a presumption.
at the moment they are still processing my work permit. when it is issued, my plan is directly rent a room there, take the permit and waiting for commencement date without going back to msia again.
my concern now is I will be going to singapore without work permit, so at the sgp custom, I am not sure what should write for period of staying, 1 year? (i'll be getting 1 year permit) but will they prevent me from entering?

This is what I understand so far:
1. You are in MY right now. You have a job waiting in SG.
2. Your boss in SG is applying work permit for you (under processing).
3. You are coming down to SG. Not sure what to write for 'stay duration' in white card (IMM27A).

You cannot write 1 year, sure ICA will question you.
Just write 30 days, when you go to MOM to hand-in the documents for work permit (in-approval letter, uni cert etc) MOM will stamp your white card. If you need to leave SG during this time, show this stamped white card to ICA, they will know what to do.
When you go to collect your work permit, MOM will keep the white card. Now you don't need white card anymore for entry/exit.
*
yes, like you've concluded, thanks. so I just need to go to MOM to give them the white card later my work permit is issued right? nod.gif thank you

how to find room to rent without agent? searched a lot websites mostly advertised by agents. ads posted by owners are so few and those advertisers never leave contact no. and never reply messages...agents charge so expensive...half of the rental...

half is not expensive, its standard, there are some agents who want a months rental rather then half.
*
uh....it might seem cheap to u, but not for a freshie who hasn't started working in singapore like me. one month deposit+one month advanced rental+half rental, for a room $400 that is rm2k already

What is this contract for?

Hello... your personal situation is not relevant lah. It's normal business practice.

That's like saying your salary should be based on what your expenses are, instead of your skills and experience.

If you really can't afford the agents' fee, then don't use an agent. Work harder to search for flats direct from the owner / main tenant.
*
thats why I inquired about ads by owners...everywhere is agents. there r like 2-3 owners, but none of them bother to answer my messages....everyday online open all renting websites hoping theres new ads....

you email them or you call?...room/house renting here is consider a hot market...unless it's a haunted house...else it's very easy for owner to rent it out...dont expect them to reply your email..i try ady last time..they will never reply you.

what you need to do is call~..if you engage agent..u can tell the agent your requirements on the room...then they will help you filter and nego..mine initially landlord ask fro 650..then my agent help me deal with 600~..
*
i search through the websites provided in this thread. owners rarely leave their contact no. or fake no. so i just send message through their ads, even pay for premium (smart websites).
i don't mind to get an agent if i am already working in singapore and getting money in SGD, but at the moment i still a freshie in malaysia earning ringgit saving in ringgit. deposit is super huge amount of $$, plus $200-300 agent fee is humongous......

ooo...then i advise you to save the money for deposit....sometime if really urgent..you might try borrow with your family member...

this is consider as an investment..if you really dont want to engage agent..then you really need a lot of luk to get a room  wink.gif

everyone has already given their advise i think the only think we can say is good luk..

have you go thru the link we provide at 1st post?
