Am close to place my order soon. Just one clarification to go. Dealer offers RM 400 for the additional 3 years warranty on top of the 2 years warranty. Total price is RM 6200 + 400 for 50" V20K. Like to know whether one can get a cheaper 3 years additional warranty directly from Pana web. Can't find out there as I need to have the serial number. Thanks.

Just call Pana Customer Service at +603-5543 7600 (Mon - Fri: 9.00am - 5.00pm)

They will let you know the price of the extended warranty

Anfieldude,

Thanks for sharing! The black level for a U20 is disappointing for a plasma panel. Hopefully, it will not degrade further but going by the X10 experience ...

Looking forward to see the X28 black levels.

PoorMan and all out there, I just figured out that the U20 actually has another mode called TrueCinema that improves the gamma response of the U20 and could also have better blacks by a hair. I will remeasure and post my observations once I can get the chance to check. If it is indeed true, then it's really great.

Anfieldude, much thanks!!

I notice that on V20, the TrueCinema mode gives a warmer colours but a little too warm (yellow/red tint) for my taste. Not sure if blacks do improve.

I believe that can be calibrated out. For the v20 the pro modes shd be better. Will verify if it indeed does bring down black level on the u20. I believe the gamma response will be better though. In cinema mode it was tracking 1.9. Thats not good. Hope with true cinema hope it at least goes to 2.1.

Just got my 50" v20 today from harvey norman. Initially booked the 42" but Panasonic messed up with the stock system, there is no stock for 42' until end of the month. For compensation, harvey norman upgrade my 42" to 50" at no extra charges.

Overall, good service from Harvey Norman Midvalley. Especially the manager Mr. Leicester for his good service rclxms.gif

46A20K from Panasonic or typo error   hmm.gif

Or you mean the Singapore model : VIERA TH-P46V20S ??  tongue.gif

yah I saw the display at Carrefour Tun Hussein Onn but the demo was blu-ray source - so dun main main - bring home play DVD and standard def tv series - die ... anyway i also saw the "made in singapore" logo plastered at the back of the panel.

just a quick question for all of you.. did you guys really overlooked the fact that Panasonic's 2010 models (non full HD models) have downgraded native resolution and lower black level in the form of gradation therefore cheaper price? The 2010 panels have 4,096 equivalent steps of gradation where as the 2009 equavalent models have 5,120 equivalent steps of gradation. The new models however have better pc signal support.

The gen 13, 2010 panels can support full hd pc signals. Meaning, if you connect your HTPC to it, your computer can detect the panel as full hd and allow you to set your computer resolution to full hd. My windows 7 only allow me to set my desktop to 720p as per my sharp LCD TV which is a 720p panel.

Non Full HD - 2010 models

46"

VIERA TH-P46X20K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9240 - no spec listed AT ALL!!

50"

VIERA TH-P50X20K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9239/Spec - Resolution: 1,024 x 768

42"

VIERA TH-P42X28K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9124/Spec - Resolution: 1,024 x 768
VIERA TH-P42A28K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9125/Spec - Resolution: 1,024 x 768

Non Full HD - 2009 models

50"

VIERA TH-P50X10K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7776/Spec - Resolution: 1,049,088 (1,366 x 768) pixels
VIERA TH-P50C10K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7937/Spec - Resolution: 1,049,088 (1,366 x 768) pixels

42"

VIERA TH-P42X10K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7775/Spec - Resolution: 786,432 (1,024 x 768) pixels
VIERA TH-P42C10K - http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7915/Spec - Resolution: 786,432 (1,024 x 768) pixels

and if there is any Panasonic staffs watching this thread -- WAKE UP AND CORRECT THE FOLLOWING!!!! doh.gif doh.gif
http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9238/Feat

http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9238/Feat - 4,096 step of Gradation
http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9238/Spec - 6,144 steps of gradation

So which is correct?

**************************************

TAKE NOTE of the "Moving picture lines" difference between the FULL HD Neo plasma/ U model and 2009 model

Neo Plasma = 1080 lines = http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9237/Spec
U Full HD model = 900 lines = http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/9238/Spec
2009 FULL HD model = 1080 lines = http://panasonic.com.my/web/pid/7941/Spec (VIERA TH-P50S10K)

so pick your poisons peeps.... i wonder how low 42" Neo plasma price will drop. 50" neo plasma - out of budget blush.gif blush.gif -- so peeps keep on buying the neo plasma models so that Panasonic and produce more - hence reduce the cost and pass the saving to consumers wub.gif wub.gif thanx wub.gif wub.gif
