Just found that 42x28K uses power comsumption of 230W while LCD ones, 93W .. huge differences !!
This mean it's twice the power .. electricity cost me high ...
I thought the eco-mode would help reduce this .. correct me if im wrong.

Also, the sales agent told me that plasma tech is fading off so no point buying .. He said plasma not indemand cos very hot, glaring, etc .. recommended me LED wor .. i told him budget constraint .. hahaha

If power consumption is ur concern, either take a look at the Neo-PDP lineup or go the LED backlit LCDs route.

About the salesman, while it is possible that plasma will be gone (anything is possible), his reasonings do not seem correct. LED backlit LCDs are premium products hence the commission being higher for them.

Just sharing the journey I went through in deciding whether to get LCD or plasma. Power was one of the criteria. BUT a quick analysis shows that power should not be a major decision maker (unless you are a very GREEN guy).

230 - 93 = 137 W = 0.137 kW
suppose you switch on the plasma for 8 hrs a day, at RM 0.30 / kwh, then you will be paying an extra 0.137 * 8 * 0.3 = RM 0.32 / day or RM 9.9 / month.

For the picture quality, I do not mind paying an extra RM 10 / month for electricity.

My 2 cents.

Mostly "Just" for Astro non-HD channels and other 4:3 AR sources. Sometimes (but don't watch for extended hours due to black bars at the sides) even "4:3" or "Pillar mode" on the Astro B.yond remote so that the subtitles don't get partly clipped at the bottom.

"16:9" for Astro HD channels/DVD upscaled/BD

My screen when set as "just" mode it's full screen and can't find any black bar while watching normal astro channel, but better set as 16:4 even for normal astro channel right for keep my V20 longer life ? smile.gif

Anyone have idea what is the difference between Pana BD45 and BD60 bluray player? some people told me that BD60 is better PQ.it zit true ??? thanks/

Thanks everyone for the advise ..
Most likely i wud be getting plasma .. x28 .. though it's HD ready instead of full HD, i guessed budget is a bit tight.
Also, i am not a gamer or those must-have .. it's just normal astro (Might go byond), etc ..

Hope i will make the right decision ..

BTW, is there any alternative to plug in other USB player via HDMI to play downloaded movies, like divx or avi?
As you know, Panny doesnt have USB slot but SD slot ..

I mean with "4:3" or "pillar mode", you'll have the black bars at the side. If you don't use it at all, then it's ok. I use it sometimes.

As long as the expectations are not too high. You may need to adjust a bit since moving from CRT 29".

Yup. Just buy a 720p media player and plug it via HDMI. The V20 has 2xUSB port but apart from WIFI, it's next to useless in the Malaysian version.

Okok. Did some test with the aspect ratios using the following yesterday:

-DVD - Aspect ratio a bit weird (sometimes, the screen is smaller)
-TVB DVD (Pictures looked zoom in a bit)
-Blue Ray Copy DVD - Perfect picture
-720p Files- The BEST!~

My Plasma is just HD Ready hence I didnt test the 1080 files.

The salesman told me that x28 is manufactured in Singapore and A28 is manufacture in Malaysia. So I bought X28 with no doubt.

I did not know that Panny assembled plasmas in Malaysia...Either way, the panel comes from Japan. Also I am pretty sure the panel on the X20, A28, X28 are the same panels. Its just the features that will be different.

I believed these sets are assembled in Msia cos Panny has plant (Forgetten where .. ) .. like Sony, the assembly plant is in Bangi.
For panel ... yes, all of the panels comes from Japan new plant, which was operative, think 2 or 3years ago.
