Yea. I saw the ad in The Star papers.

Asia's first ever 3d roadshow in Sunway Pyramid. (25-28 March 2010)

I think they are launching the new Viera 2010 models.

Just came back from the Pana roadshow at Sunway. The 3d bus so crowded and this ppl are chatting inside the mini 3d cinema than enjoying the clips. Spoke to one of the SenQ sales person.. the full hd plasma coming in on april, no exact date. Anyway its a good experience with the 3d tv, everyone should try it.

actually plasma prices, Panasonic especially, has come down a lot. Infact, it is as cheap as overseas or even cheaper.

Luckily it has dropped a lot in prices. Though US is a bit cheaper but it is one item not viable to buy overseas and ship it to Malaysia due to its size and warranty issue. Power also different ie 110v.

Now the 42 inch going for RM2099, it is very affordable. hope it drops more.

I am sure the 50V also will drop a lot. Now, it is a novelty, but give it few months, it will just be slightly more expensive than the 50U

Im eyeing very closely at the 50V. Lets hope it happens. I missed the opportunity to get the S40 last time.. hmm.gif

after studying a lot of information from the web & feed back from friends, I finally opt for a 50" LG plasma, which none of my friends using, they are using pana & samsung mostly.

the 24p/ film mode is the major issue i go for it, just cannot convince myself to pay extra couple of 1000 to go for other brand with this so called advance technolgy ...........

so far very satisfied, at leat no hizzling sound like samsung.....

I blieve Pana Plasma dont have the hissing problem as well rite? Went to HN to make some comparisons, at the end still Pana gets the highest score for me. One thing I dont like is the HN SA likes to 'over' rate their products. I maybe a newbie in the AV stuff, but I do my homework well.

Oh, that's for the initial 200+ hours or so. This is to avoid permanent plasma burn in.

So far, I've dropped the contrast below 50, the brightness I've dropped it -10, and the color as well is below 50.

I suppose the other more experienced users here can give you advice on the appropriate settings for the first 200 hours or so.
*
Getting my 50V in a week or two. Any sifu here can share the best setting for the 1st 200 hrs?

refnulf is using

- contrast (below 50)
- brightness (-10)
- color (below 50)

Just now hand itchy, switch on ps3 and played a few games for less than 10 mins. After switch off ps3, saw some image retention on my v20k. Then I played a few .mkv documentaries and the image gone, my hours of usage is only 6 hrs (for 2 days) Does that mean after our 200 hrs of break in the unit is less prone to have image retention or it will continue to haunt us?

Normal mode even at contrast 50 has a high ft/L and coupled with the fact that it is a low gamma is actually brighter and contrastier than most people think. As I said, Cinema mode is much better if u r not using the break in slides during early life.

Also it is normal that there is image retention and really shd only be vieweable in a dark room with no content (on the V20). More so during the early hours of the plasma life. The phosphors are driven much harder especially the red and blue phosphors.
*
Thanks echoesian & anfieldude for the input. Im using the cinema mode and will zoom in every time Im watching the local TV channels and also for BD that is not running on full screen. Anyway Im not taking any risk on this image retention thingy. AD, just curious, lets say I leave the image retention in my unit, will it cause a permanent burn in later? Or should I play a full screen program just to flush away the image retention? hmm.gif

If u use the same channel logos at high brightness/contrast and not use anything else, there is a chance of course.
*
Thanks AD again for the time and effort of sharing the long awaited calibration result of the V20. Anyway back to my case, in conclusion I would say its good to lower all the brightness / contrast to a acceptable level .. say 40.. just to play safe.. no? hmm.gif

Apparently, I can see the sign of Burn-In Mark of Astro Banner (Byond)  in my P50V20K now although it's not obvious. Well only 180+ hours  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  icon_question.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

I tot u knew about using the zoom 1 buttons so that the logo will not be visible in the screen? Have u tried running other full screen movies to flush off the image retentions?

Out of curiosity, any difference between an "expensive" hdmi cable or a "normal" cable? Thought of using hdmi to connect my laptop. And saw this cable at Tesco at RM10. Appreciate your feedbacks.

There's a bit of image retention for my V20 in the early days but there's no permanent burn-in so far even under heavy usage (my family members are TV junkies). Already 1800hrs of usage within 5 months (average 10 - 15 hrs daily) ...  ohmy.gif It's gonna be much worse with the long school holidays coming up ...  doh.gif

Hey anfieldude, just bought my PS3. So, are you dropping by Puchong anytime soon?
*
Ahaha.. we stay very near. My unit is approximately 199.30 hrs. Didnt realise I watch for so long edi.. Anyway once I reach 250 - 300 hrs will definitely look for AD. thumbup.gif I'm a PS3 gamer, so image retention sure got, but after an hour or two i usually watch some TV1 - TV3 movies.. just zoom in to get the full view to wash the images out.. tongue.gif
