actually plasma prices, Panasonic especially, has come down a lot. Infact, it is as cheap as overseas or even cheaper.

Luckily it has dropped a lot in prices. Though US is a bit cheaper but it is one item not viable to buy overseas and ship it to Malaysia due to its size and warranty issue. Power also different ie 110v.

Now the 42 inch going for RM2099, it is very affordable. hope it drops more.

I am sure the 50V also will drop a lot. Now, it is a novelty, but give it few months, it will just be slightly more expensive than the 50U

after studying a lot of information from the web & feed back from friends, I finally opt for a 50" LG plasma, which none of my friends using, they are using pana & samsung mostly.

the 24p/ film mode is the major issue i go for it, just cannot convince myself to pay extra couple of 1000 to go for other brand with this so called advance technolgy ...........

so far very satisfied, at leat no hizzling sound like samsung.....

Oh, that's for the initial 200+ hours or so. This is to avoid permanent plasma burn in.

So far, I've dropped the contrast below 50, the brightness I've dropped it -10, and the color as well is below 50.

I suppose the other more experienced users here can give you advice on the appropriate settings for the first 200 hours or so.

Normal mode even at contrast 50 has a high ft/L and coupled with the fact that it is a low gamma is actually brighter and contrastier than most people think. As I said, Cinema mode is much better if u r not using the break in slides during early life.

Also it is normal that there is image retention and really shd only be vieweable in a dark room with no content (on the V20). More so during the early hours of the plasma life. The phosphors are driven much harder especially the red and blue phosphors.

If u use the same channel logos at high brightness/contrast and not use anything else, there is a chance of course.

Apparently, I can see the sign of Burn-In Mark of Astro Banner (Byond)  in my P50V20K now although it's not obvious. Well only 180+ hours           

Out of curiosity, any difference between an "expensive" hdmi cable or a "normal" cable? Thought of using hdmi to connect my laptop. And saw this cable at Tesco at RM10. Appreciate your feedbacks.

There's a bit of image retention for my V20 in the early days but there's no permanent burn-in so far even under heavy usage (my family members are TV junkies). Already 1800hrs of usage within 5 months (average 10 - 15 hrs daily) ...  It's gonna be much worse with the long school holidays coming up ...
