Im on DiGi with the iPhone 3gs and i would say that in their 3g coverage area, the speed is very reasonable. No problem browsing the internet, IM and emailing. Speeds are quite fast and reliable, even with edge also not that bad. Currently with DiGi 3g unlimited data.

Cant wait to see what plans DiGi are offering for the iPhone 3gS.

Here is a screenie for average speeds i get during the day.

Don't forget that there is still many consumer wanted to purchase Iphone but due to long waits from Maxis has turn them down. But now they get another chance to get it from DiGi. Who knows DiGi can speed up the waiting list since DiGi well known for their friendly customer service.

this is good news. with Digi knocking on Maxis's door. this will create a more competitive market and us users will benefit from it.

price wise for the phone, i don't see much difference. but i have a good feeling Digi will offer a much more attractive plan than Maxis's current iValue plan.

just look at Digi's unlimited data, already 50% cheaper.

most of us(me specially) was hoping celcom to bring in the iphone, but actually digi from nowhere appeared which i am more happier about.

well said, maxis has to improve their crappy service if they dont wanna see their customers move away to digi now....

Few of us just got our iPhone 3GS from Maxis last week and bounded with 12-months and 24-months contracts. It seems like we are buying too soon, but we wait for so long for it as the stocks depleted earlier 2010 and late 2009. Now here comes this breaking news. It is really shocking. Never expect Digi will gets their hands on iPhone too. But good to have competitions and we will be expecting a full-fledged price war in Malaysia. How will Maxis keep their current users happy? 12-months end very fast and Maxis will lose them all if they don't do it right.

Hmm.. This is weird. For current digi '3G' customer, are you guys using 3G Turbo or actually 3G broadband? Because IINM, 3G Turbo is promised a speed of only up to 384kbps while broadband is higher, at 700kbps. Please clarify here, because these two is definitely different.

Alright. I just went to Digi website. And they actually offer Likely Average Speed of 700kbps down and 200kbps up. For Internet Unlimited 58, the quota is 3GB, however unlimited here refer to you still can use the internet after exceeding quota but at throttled speed of 128kbps.

I doubt digi can offer lower price for the phone alone. They will lower their rate and cheaper package. Then again you'll be tied into a contract just like what maxis did. For those aiming lower price iPhone can forget about it cause pricing of iPhone is controlled by Apple.

I believe 3g turbo and broadband is the same using 3g signal. Just in broadband area, the 3g speed is greater.

Btw signing up unlimited 58 for the first year will have discount of rm10. so only rm48 per month for 'unlimited' data.

maxis might adjust in response to competition but I do not think you can change your plan since you have signed for 24 months.

hehe...good competition for the end-users. Apples doesn't usually allow second operator to sell iphone, I wonder what happened that caused them to approve second iphone operator in Malaysia.

geez... I just got my iphone last week from maxis. Is it likely that they are going to re-structure their ivalue monthly fees for subscribers who just signed up like me? Coz if not, and if digi's offer is better, I'm really unlucky then sad.gif
*
I hope that Maxis will include the newly signed up customers for the new ivalue rate, if they plan to update them. I emailed both Celcom and Digi early January and both denied having future plan to offer the iphone. But now in Feb, Digi came out with this sad.gif. jphlau, yeah I was lucky that I didn't opt for the 24 months contract. But it's frustrating, waiting all this while for other telcos to offer the iphone and when I actually signed up with Maxis, Digi pop this news. doh.gif. BTW, Maxis KK still got plenty of units, mine having the old boot rom.

If you want some inside information, you cant just email them. If your email, ...only those low level employees will reply you. Well...low level employees are mostly not updated with the newest information by the high levels.

Digi has always been cheaper, but their line quality frankly speaking; is simply horrible.

i used their postpaid line for 2 years and the reception was poor and i calls kept getting cut in between, not to mention cross lines(suddenly find myself conversing with a stranger..).

maxis has much better overall line quality, be it for 3g surfing or making calls.

these are some thing to take into consideration as well, not just see who can offer cheapest then jump ship smile.gif

Yaaahhh .. surely is GOOD news .. but for iphone 4G .... Dream On .. my fren ....

but as for the $$$ on the hand set of Iphone 3Gs .. i doubt ..Digi will go cheaper then Maxis .....

I will assume that the market "WAR" will be the "DATA" use packages ...

and I hope "DIGI" learn the "lesson" from Maxis of the issue of running OUT of STOCK .. on the 16G Gs version ....

who knows DIGI might only sell the 32 G version nation wide ....

anyway ... just one more month of waiting ... we will see ...!!!!

That was what I used to believe in, until I switched from DiGi to Maxis. Maxis line was worse! Now I'm happily back on DiGi line. Just hope that DiGi will have a cheap package for iphone once it's launched.

Well. Malaysia, Green (Maxis), Yellow (Digi), Blue (Celcom)

Phone Price? Wun Be Cheaper. ( I Guess Fixed By Apple).

Data / Phone Plan Is Key Part.

I am using digi on my iphone currently. Digi is great and good value for money, however their 3g coverage is very poor. Even in some 3g coverage area (as per digi website), there is no 3g, only edge.

where or which telco is cheaper..is really depends on you...who call,,.which telco you often call..there one of friend always says that his maxis bill is hifh..and digi cheaper...but when i saw his bill 70% of call he is making to digi..how you expect maxis will be cheaper...what digi can do is maybe a better or cheaper value plan or data...

food for thought :

When Digi brings in new batches of iPhones, they would most likely come with OS 3.1.3 with the NEW bootroom.

say goodbye to jailbreaking.. heh

maxis peeps are just not happy about digi bringing in iphone icon_idea.gif

for years...no doubt maxis line is better than digi and that's because maxis named themselves as a "premium" telco

digi is not bad~sometime might have crappy line but the plans are always cheaper than maxis and they are very competive

so if you want good line..opt for maxis hence you'll be paying much more..as simple as that biggrin.gif what you use is what you pay icon_idea.gif

2 thumbs up thumbup.gif for digi!!

This happen when maxis first got the iphone 3g. Then 2-3 months later, iphone 3gs was released. BUT note that malaysia only get 3gs 1-2 months after release.

@jphlau
incorrect, Malaysia received iPhone 3G[S] on schedule. Go back and view the WWDC 2009 video, where it says Malaysia July... just that Maxis preferred to delay it to 31st July so they had more time to prepare.

For those planning to buy now, there's DEFINITELY a new phone in July.

Another question, Digi get 3gs iPhone then how bout the 4g. i mean if 4g is on the way, it's pointless to launches 3gs while Maxis launches 4g, right? its not compatitive.

I believe you are not a businessman or if you are studying, your major cannot be business. And you most definitely have not been following the iPhone scene.

Let me straighten it out for you or others who think like you. If Digi were to commence selling iPhone NOW, they will have the 3GS variant. Come June/July when the 'new model' comes out, they will of course be marketing it with whatever packages they think are attractive to their clientele and at the same time give Maxis a run for their money. If at all Apple does away with the 16gb and maintains sales of the 32, then Digi and of course Maxis will continue selling that as well.

So, your 'point' is moot.

to follow-up on PeeEl,

My prediction is that by March 18th, Digi will announce their plans. Do some research, the date has a significance to iPhone in Malaysia.

My 2nd prediction is that the 3G [X] (that's my speculated name) will phase out the 3G, bring in the 16GB as the base model, and the 3GX will be 32 & 64GB.

Not really the core difference on 3G and 3Gs is only minor evolution rather than revolution, one can live without faster speed and compass as 3G has already included the nessary component like gps... And all lies on the iPhone OS to make magic

I am sure there will be significant upgrade. I read in some websites there are rumors some of new upgrade will be 5MP camera, removable battery and front camera for ichat and video call. BTW, it is just rumors, right so who knows?

One that that I am quite sure is, they will use the same CPU that apple built for ipad, Apple A4 and they might lower a bit the speed, maybe to around 500Mhz - 700Mhz.

I hope DiGi iPhone not 3.13~
Gonna get 1 with contract since I'm using DG150~

If DG150 2 years contract, the phone should be 1.3k?

nobody can answer you this because there's no announcement from digi on the official package. whether if there's a contract or not also no one knows.

so just wait for the official announcement.

It seems like Digi is doing a pre-order for the iphone.

Just received an email for them to ask for registration for the pre-order.

Anyone receive it too?

I have already sent my pre order and got an email.

But a question to those who have sent their pre order, in the email that you have received there is a headline "Your DiGi iPhone pre-oder number :" did anyone get a number? Or is it an error?

Important:
* This is a pre-order to indicate your interest to buy an iPhone on contract with DiGi.
* You will have to pay the fees associated with the mobile service plan and device on the launch day (date & venue to be announced later).
* You will receive updates via email on the launch location, date, and pricing. Details will also be published @ http://www.digi.com.my/iphone.

I think the pre-order in this context is just for Digi to carry out a survey to check on the level of interest among the people. So if you pre-order, you just registered your interest to own one unit with Digi. Fees are applicable only if you agree with the fees, plan and charges later on when Digi roll out the iPhone package. smile.gif

I do not think that maxis is worried as they have tied thousands of customers for 1-2 years contract. Will definitely see some price competition in july when the new iphone is released.

i am clearly referring to the 4th generation iPhone, in all the promotional advertising that we have been seeing, it is still the 3Gs, what makes you think that they are going to announce anything with the iphone 4G?

I don't think it will be June cool2.gif most probably Digi gonna announce price soon and my guess hmm.gif within this month!! And I presume If Digi has good deals & sales is good for sure they'll bring in 4g as well. Just like Maxis when the sales of 3g is good, they brought in 3gs icon_rolleyes.gif

So for those who are willing to wait to get the 4g..wait lar~if cant wait then get 3gs first lo biggrin.gif and I presume when they bring in 4g~the price of the 4g will be equivalent to 3gs and the 3gs will be equivalent to 3g drool.gif Well~just my assumptions whistling.gif

tabs, maggi,

You can just ignore your pre-order if you do not want to buy it. The pre-order is just to indicate your interest.. you do not have to buy or pay anything if you don't like the packages. Don't even need to cancel smile.gif

Maybe they are waiting for a lowered price of iPhone 3GS from Apple if iPhone 4.0 is officially launched.

Ordering iPhone now might come in current price and later when the price drop later, Digi will lost a lot of money.

So I think Digi would wait for the revised price of iPhone 3GS where Apple usually announce new model of iPhone on June.

Rumour says that iPhone 4.0 will come in lowest 32GB, which if they decide to replace the current 3GS 32GB model, it might be as much as RM3000. If they decided that the hardware is much better, then expect something more than RM3000+.

Then the hotcake will be iPhone 3GS with quite impressive capabilities even after 4.0 is out. Average users and students would go for a cheaper but still decent performance smartphone which is the iPhone 3GS. I believe Digi is targeting this market with its lower cost broadband plan and rate. If iPhone 3GS 16GB comes in RM1000-RM1500 with contracts, I bet almost everyone could afford one.

Just my humble opinion.

Apple released the official DiGi carrier settings yesterday via iTunes. So it must be launching fairly soon...me thinks...

New menus and internet tethering now supported on officially unlocked iphones with DiGi SIM....woohoo!!!.... rclxm9.gif

Yes, the tethering is working flawlessly now on my iPhone on Digi Unlimited line! thumbup.gif
For a moment before, I actually considered porting to Maxis just for tethering. sweat.gif
But now with Digi supported, it makes no sense to go to Maxis since Digi's package gives unlimited bandwidth (albeit with capped speed if the 3 GB quota is reached) unlike Maxis's 500 MB that charges extra for over-use (comparing similar priced packages for both telcos). vmad.gif

hmm,,i had made a pre-order from digi website ,but i not guarantee to buy it ,, ha ha! From digi iphone package,i don`t think is can cheaper much than maxis.actually , after you calculate for each iphone package from Telecommunication Company (maxis or digi) ,u will know that price is almost same as you purchase a new Iphone ...we merely compare how services are digi provided ? fast internet speed ? good customer services...

However ,i support DiGi ~ Cheers

well bro~if u really calculate~maxis is the daylight robber vmad.gif the price of iphone is simply ridiculous & with their plan doh.gif worst!!

you do the calculation

price for iphone

prepaid = RM3000 (3gs 32gb)
"Value1" plan = RM2290 ( 3gs 32gb bond for 1 year)

so the value plan is like cheaper by RM700??? bear in mind each month pay RM100 for the "value" plan~

1 month = RM100
12 months = RM1200

ok...now you need to make bill prepayment for 2 months first.

so RM1200 - RM200 = RM1000 ( balance you need to pay for ur bond with maxis )

Conclusion~price for you get ur iphone will be RM2290 + RM1200 = RM3490 icon_rolleyes.gif

no matter which plan you choose...maxis will earn from you ALOT!!! shakehead.gif is it worth? if digi offer similar package~then I doubt ppl will switch to digi because no doubt maxis line is better though the package sucks. for similar price of cuz choose a better line rite? whistling.gif

so lets pray digi offer superb package like Singapore telcos icon_idea.gif

Do you all think that Apple actually allows his carrier to simply charge the price of their phone?

It might ruin Apple's sale in Malaysia if they allowed that. So I do think Apple have control over the price of their iPhone under both Maxis and Digi.

I do think that Apple does set certain regulations on the price for the iPhone. Even in Singapore the prices of iPhone isn't that much different between all 3 carriers. I don't see why that might be different here as well.

apple have the price control...is not like nokia or sony..where the price will drop in a month or two..but iphone prices are like tag..till new once come the price is fixed...in onlt the telco earns is by the plan and contract...i think digi wont come with a big hype..maybe somewhere similar to maxis...

It will be a battle of packages and services.

I am kinda curious how well both Digi and Maxis fare in term of 3G coverage. It would be troublesome when the 3G coverage not wide enough.

Well do hope the price war will benefits us.

Guys do post if there are any updates on Digi package.

Currently using Maxis 3GS RM100. 500MB is definitely not enough for me. Might as well JUMP if Maxis doesn't know how to keep it's customer happy.

The phone price will be the same as it is being determined by Apple however the package/contract is up to the telco. The only place where they can fight would be package pricing, customer service, coverage, reliability etc..
see how it goes with DiGi, hope they can rollout 3G coverage in more places so the battlefield is much more leverage

Not really.

Even if controlled by Apple, telco itself still can absorb the cost like AT&T doing now. They sell only for 2-300 bucks cheap, but their package is far expensive, to cover the cost.

All depends on telco.

Let's wait and see smile.gif

True but actually its back to square one. It depends on the whole package. If its attractive enough to get customer onboard. On Apple side the price will be the same so its up to the telco to play the game. Well for me I got 3gs 32 so maybe if DiGi is good enough then I will jump onboard for the next iPhone release. My assumption is that DiGi will be stronger player in next 1 year when most of contract customer from Maxis have expired. Alot of iPhone freak got their dose on Maxis but I bet they are eager to see what DiGi can offer so they know where to jump when the time is right.
Knowing DiGi they normally can do better in term of offering only lacking in rollout (well they started late anyway but closing fast) but given time they will be the next powerhouse in Malaysian telco.
My only hope is that all contract should cover roaming and local. It's a waste not to be able to utilize all those so called free called when always roamed. Just do the normal roaming rate and deduct from the amount of RM available in the contract would suffice as at least it's utilized. Or some kind of bundle between call and data accumulated in RM and if it's not used locally then it can be deducted from all those roaming charges. See how DiGi play the game..I have both but my primary line is still with Maxis.

yeap~maxis have started the 1st move. Even they can't wait for Digi package. Perhaps they knew their package will be more expensive than Digi hence they comes up with this 1st move~To conquer at least some customers first!!

RM200 discount from Maxis makes no difference. The plan still sucks tho~Their marketing team really needs to think out of the box to attract customers or they'll definitely lose to Digi once the package is announced.

Even the BB offer from Digi is good compare to both maxis and celcom.

I presume Digi may announce the package in coming weeks & the roadshow should be Fri - Sun. Just like how they did it for BB in MidValley.

A limited time to show that DIGI is exclusive =) Just my 2cents

i hope that my predictions will be true that Digi's plan will be more attractive as this will force Maxis to be more competitive once they start losing market share.

i actually manage to convince a Maxis staff to switch his BB plan to Digi's while purchasing my gf's iphone from him....lol

0ffer valid till 20 April 2010.

So in fact, this promotion only to beat DiGi.

I believe this promotion won't attract more customer as all are waiting for DiGi.

Unless DiGi package more expensive in compare to Maxis (but in fact, very low chances).

cross fingers and wait for DiGi

Considered that some people dont mind the price difference as long as they get what they want?

Like the phone, Now without waiting not knowing what to expect. and also, maxis has much wider 3g coverage which might also be one of the reasons not many will jump ship.

I'm on DiGi Campus using the 3g internet unlimited data and paying only rm30 a month.

It supports tethering as well biggrin.gif

For prepaid the impact might not be worthwhile since prepaid is almost like an outright purchase of the phone. Since the price in controlled by Apple pretty much and telco can't really absorb the cost to lower it pretty much thus it might not be interesting or maybe at the same par with Maxis.
For postpaid user the impact can be quite interesting since they will be tied to a contract that will provide constant revenue stream so they can absorb the cost alot bigger compared to prepaid.
Certain countries you can buy an outright without even the need to get a prepaid line so in a way saving you tiny bit of hassle to buy another line though its too tiny.
If you plan to get one for postpaid (no matter under whose name is it anyway or whose line etc) then better wait for DiGi to release and soon they will start the price war between two but for prepaid I doubt there will be any price war

If iPhone 3GS is selling at a lowered price, it is a better market compared to iPhone 4.0

Those without budgets or those who are not that fancy of overpriced-phone will go for a cheaper solution and still with a decent capability compare to other phone.

At a Price ranging about RM1500 most people could easily dish out that amount to get a phone, somemore this is a smartphone.

If iPhone 4.0 comes in with 32GB and 64GB with price starting RM3000+ (similar to the current iPhone 3GS 32GB), just how many will go for it? It is as expensive as a laptop and a quite decent personal computer. RM3000-RM4000 for a handphone?

I still think a cheaper iPhone 3GS will be selling better than the new 4.0. Somemore, Digi is not a stupid company for rolling out iPhone 3GS if there is no market. They must have done lots of paperworks and researches.

you are wrong. I, like many other have been waiting patiently for the release of 4.0 . RM3k-4k sound like a lot to Msian, probably due to the low income per capita, but not to ppl in Sg, Aust or even US.

Not trying to offend u or anything, bro..but since when maxis treat their customer differently...they trying to maximize their cost on serving their customer..u think advertising and building KIOSK machine nationwide is cheap??..Even thought that they have KIOSK machine..they still hired some staff to assist the customer when are not sure about what they are doing..
I can see that Maxis trying to serve the people better...but I'm not so sure about the pricing..and I myself preferred DIGI better laugh.gif laugh.gif

Haha I know RM4000 is nothing when you are at SG/US/UK or anything, but we are discussing about DIGI and DIGI market in Malaysia.

Yes, the other part of the world is waiting for 4.0 and even I myself have been waiting for it. But I bought 3GS anyway for fun, and then see how 4.0 goes.

When iPhone 4.0 comes out, I also will go and grab one. But not everyone is willing to spend that much for a phone. RM4000 can get quite a decent PC or laptop for average users. So I am saying Digi selling iPhone 3GS is not a bad business too. It aims for a lower income and lower budget users, which is A LOT.

I know you all are rich and can buy whatever you want. But just how many guys like you out there? They are looking for cheaper choices, and when 3GS drop, it just become their range of price.

Hehehe..just one comment Alviano. For people who are indeed rich they would not wait for iPhone 4.0. They will just grab 3gs 32GB and when the new one comes out then they wil just buy the new one.
Just my one cent smile.gif
I agree on your view in regards to the purchasing power. Alot of people still out of reach 3gs so they are expecting this price to come down soon when 4 being released smile.gif

Your argument is pretty much flawed and not justified, it is more towards being a smart consumer or a not-so smart consumer where you get blindly influenced by all the advertisement on billboards and tv commercials. While the smart or shall i say enlightened ones would do a research and ask around before they even plonk down cash on anything.

Uncles, especially well to do ones actually do their own research before they do anything, trust me I do know about that.

@shockk
dei bro, kalao 4g tak cantik, i might be considering to zhg my phone to 3gs, tell me k when you made your decision biggrin.gif

Simple reason being if anyone is rich and they could buy anything they would have bought the iPhone after it was launched or sometime after it instead of waiting it towards end of life before buying one hence you could really enjoy owning one during the course of time.

Furthermore it was in my opinion that 3GS still have its own value even normal 3G because it pretty much depends on 4.0 as well. If it's not that enticing enough to justify the price for the phone alot of people would still buy 3gs as it would suffice right? As you said, alot of uncles will do their research on this and if the phone is released with massive adv, alot of nice upgrades but those uncles would not need for then they would just settle down with 3gs.
My conclusion is that 3gs will have it's own niche market somehow although 4.0 will be released. It's just that when someone say RM4000 is nothing in comparison to other country, then it's not at par comparison. smile.gif

don't u all feel insulted? digi only tells "very soon" for the iphone to come. but not even an estimated date for launching. they are keeping u all to wait. manipulating u all. its not like their telco is better than maxis. and yet u all still get manipulated by this digi telco. only this reason is enough for all digi users to jump ship to maxis. they are not respecting us as their customers! is that how u would treat your one and only source of revenue?

With all due respect, I think "very soon" is better than "out of stock", which is practiced very often by the other telco. They did not really manipulate per se. To be fair, they did not mention when the actual launch date will be since day one. It is a marketing strategy. Just like Toyota with it's new facelift Vios. We are still waiting. I remember before competition came, the other telco made ppl wait for up to 45 DAYS just to buy an iphone. Now, doesn't that sound more like a "manipulation"? Now with Digi coming into the picture, suddenly they have ready stock always albeit limited quantity.

Agreed. Not only marketing strategy but behind the scenes action as well. They need to test everything to make sure it's fully ready and not going to tell a certain date then put in hold on due to technical difficulties etc.

Yep, I still remember the other telco made others wait up to 45 days. Fortunately for me when I asked them to check my track record on how much I've been spending etc and I told them I want it then and there, straight away I can get it. In short basically they do have short stock in hand just in case for whose who perhaps.

dude, u need to take a chill pill. maxis ain't really a saint as well.

but at least with Digi launching iphone packages, it will be much more competitive and benefits us as the consumers instead of having Maxis grab us by the nuts.

I tot last time Maxis also got this "coming soon" and pre-booked thing? It's only like what, few weeks only since Digi announce right. So chill la.

And btw, Apple didn't make maxis customers to wait 30 - 45 days coz business package promoted to companies can get the phone right away (that's when they did a promo at our company).

i thought this should be an digi announcing iphone thread..why it turns up to be digi vs maxis thread....well all the telco have the good and bad..no point making a judgment which is good or bad...you just increasing unwanted post...As red-queen and frozzbyte say...its good to see digi coming up because there will much more competition and each telco will improve their service for a better prospect...whether when it launches it doesn't matter..i think currently they good response for the public due to even pre order is close...so chill guys...we will see it later after the launch...

If DiGi launches the package without sufficient preparation, I'll rather feel insulted. A little wait is nothing.

I wont be too certain about Maxis providing better service than Digi. I remember that I applied for Maxis BB some time back and I cancelled it less than 3 months of using because it was horribly bad. I never has this problem with Digi. And try comparing their call packages, Maxis is damn expensive. Lazy to compare their call packages, then compare their internet packages. At least Digi offers more "affordable" packages. I am a Digi user but I am not a fanboy. Try comparing their blackberry packages with Maxis. The facts and figures speak for themselves, so I don't need to be a fanboy. I have used Maxis, Digi, Mobikom, etc...over the years.

Anyway, looking at the current offerings from Digi, I believe that Digi is capable of coming up with very affordable iphone packages. Let's hope that it true.

Alot of things happened behind the scenes. To end user it's all about when ts gong to launch but to the back end there's alot of preparations and I'm pretty sure there are thousands of sleepless night. I know, been there before for one iPhone launch somewhere outside before.
To me there must be good reason for DiGi to put abit of time before the launch. Sometimes it's just a simple plain Murphy's Law so that also might cause the delay as well.
Whatever it is I'm very satisfied with DiGi in coming up with this as well. Hopefully both can be very competitive to benefit all of us. So far I'm not Maxis fanboy although I must admit I raked up alot every month but I do have DiGi as well. So far to me to have near good (not neat perfect) scenario you just need to have all 3 biggrin.gif

That is true, man. I used to get getting a lot of downtime with my maxis, like need to redial a number just to get through. doh.gif
In the end changed to Digi and never had that problem. biggrin.gif
But Digi's signal inside walls certainly needs upgrading... serious upgrading. lol.

Also, Digi's 3G so far tends to be much more stable than Maxis 3G.

Guys Out of topic, Im using iPhone with DiGi edge and is actually quite sufficient for normal Internet or even YouTube(yes it's suprising quite fast!). 3G is good to have but make not much difference except for the fact 3g is faster a bit but eats up the battery more.

To be frank, without DiGi i'm pretty sure we all are still using the expensive phone call. Every company has their own way of advertising/marketing their product.

You guys should be delighted Maxis will definitely cut their price on iPhone Plan for the upcoming 4G.

the different is so huge , many times when i have few bars on my phone ; hers is no connection .

then i switch her line to maxis .

i dont blame you if you think digi is great ; because you have never use maxis i guess ( though the price is slightly more expensive ) .

i switch from maxis to digi on 2007, until maxis came up with iphone plan. after using it for a month, it all came back.. the feeling of why i hate maxis so much.. poor cs, poor 3g coverage, poor coverage, n very expensive.. to be honest, they were not any better than digi.. at least for me in my area.. now i manage to convince several iphone users(my frens) to change to digi.. but if they are not providing a good service after this, and other telco can, im not hesitate to change from digi.. just dont be too loyal..

wait till bill only find out, then blame telco.

Please tell us what hidden costs charged to your friends. If the hidden conditions haven't published on our blog, we will included it sooner.

To know more telco hidden charges, you can checkout on their website and read their terms and conditions word by word or your can simply visit our blog, as we highlight all the hidden charges in our post.

read carefully~actual phone price will be lower.

Maxis is offering the same price for iphone if you just purchase the phone itself. Which everyone has expect as Apple controls the price of iphone.

The only thing that may attract people will be the iphone plan brows.gif will it be better than maxis?? maxis already discount rm200 for the iphone price for value plans. So lets see what will happen on 31st rclxm9.gif

don't u all feel insulted? digi only tells "very soon" for the iphone to come. but not even an estimated date for launching. they are keeping u all to wait. manipulating u all. its not like their telco is better than maxis. and yet u all still get manipulated by this digi telco. only this reason is enough for all digi users to jump ship to maxis. they are not respecting us as their customers! is that how u would treat your one and only source of revenue?
*
are you working with maxis? cos if your issue of getting an iphone is for an iphone go and buy one from sg wang la .. lol.
i tot if you want to jump ship its cos the telco provide crappy service and not this? your subsequent posts shows that your just a maxis fanboi rather than a user le. go get a grip as coming soon happens to every freaking thing. should we not watch tv since its always coming soon. boycott tgv and gsc with all those coming soon with no release date. are you like 12?

iPhone 3G 8G RM1990
iPhone 3GS 16GB RM2490
iPhone 3GS 32GB RM2990

all of you ,do u think the price is acceptable ? for 3G 8G ,...it a bit outdated. but 3GS that 16GB is quite expensive. almost 2.5k.

I don't like the way of doing business too.
shouldn't be the price release before the launching?
or a "strategy" to hold the customer to go for Telco M brows.gif

Imagine the price release on that day, the customer will get "less time" to review the plan properly before they get in the plan.
If review the plan too long, then the store of iphone might finish as well.
I more feel like this is a bit unfair to those wise user who want to do their SMARTER choice.
Or just blind follow Telco D. That is the smarter choice smile.gif

no. the iphone price is cheaper if you look properly. The amount in black is the phone price while the rest are the price of the phone + 6months plan fees.

Edit: The attachment has been removed so i believe the price should be true. too back i do not save it

0% payment rates shown in d table is for a period payment of 36mths.. and since maxis reduced their phones by 200bucks, d cost is somewat neutralised. pls do a check extensively before buying from digi. do also note that talk time is less tink.

i dun tink its a 36mths contract. i tink more of 24months cost distributed over 36mths..hence less monthly repayment.

wow, the plan by Digi certainly beats Maxis in terms of pricing. regarding the data plan, i can see that the Digi88 package you get 1GB data. but then if you exceed it is still free. does it mean they will cap your 3G speed to something lower? but still allow you to use the data plan for free?

rm106 is for the plan + the 16gb phone

if you pay the phone upfront you will only need to pay rm88+5% service tax.

the best thing with Digi is that after u reach ur data cap limit, u will not be charged for the extra data, instead Digi will throttled down ur speed to edge which is 128kbps. Whereas Maxis will charged for the extra data used up to rm250 per month. Pls correct me if i'm wrong tongue.gif

hi just try my best to explain to you

RM106 is all in one mean you get minutes, sms, data, and the phone, if you not getting the phone while only get the iget88, which mean you pay rm88 for minutes, sms, and data for 1GB. you topup another RM 18 with get you a iphone 3gs but you must instalment for 3 years, the 24+12 mean you need to pay rm 106 for 36 months which is rm 3816.

ok here is my question

1. the iget allow tether? if not it wont be that useful even i have 1gb and so on.
2. kinda sure that their batch of 3gs is not jail-breakable, any confirm ?

i just call digi helpline to clarify something but their call centre kinda tight on their mouth, so we will have more details, i mean full detail by tmrw at one U

rm106 per month plan is a bit misleading. In fact, rm106 for 1st 24 months is inclusive of the iDigi88 plan, then the next 12 remaining months is only paying for the phone only. Meaning for 25th-36th month, u need to subscribe another plan to access for voice and data.

Digi is cheaper if u use more then the Data Cap Limit bcoz they do not charged for extra Data usage. Also, free sms and mms is double and for all network. Unlike Maxis, u will be charged for extra data usage, free sms and mms for Maxis network only. The downside is, All Digi plan is for 24 months and voice mins is slightly lower. But, if you do not call much, then should not be a problem. Most iphone user use more Data then Voice call anyway tongue.gif

that one maybe we can justify again tmrw hmm.gif

but i think it can be like ivalue, just continue the plan for the outstanding year

RM 88 for the plan, RM 106 for plan + phone, mean for the first 2 year the phone is only RM 18 x 24 = RM 432

RM 106 x 12months ( 3rd year ) = RM 1272

RM 1272 + RM 432 = RM 1704 (exact phone price you paid for after 36months)

please , digi line sucks , im a maxis user and my gf is a digi user .

the different is so huge , many times when i have few bars on my phone ; hers is no connection .

then i switch her line to maxis .

i dont blame you if you think digi is great ; because you have never use maxis i guess ( though the price is slightly more expensive ) .
*
FYI, maxis has an unfair advantage over Digi because they are GLC. The have more towers than Digi that is why in some areas, maxis has "more bar" than Digi.

Coming to 3G, it came out in the Star business section that day. Digi has only about 4ghz of the 3G spectrum whereas companies like Celcom and Maxis have about 30+GHz. You call that a fair competition? (not sure is Ghz or Mhz, sorry but something like that). Remember, the 3G bandwidth Digi has is bought from Time.

So, if there is a level playing ground, i'm sure Digi will bungkus maxis.

Nop.. you missed out the 5% service charges.
its supposed to be :-
RM88 + 5% Service tax = RM92.4
So the phone is (RM106 - RM92.4) x 24 months = RM326.4

RM1272 + RM326.4 = 1598.4

DiGi sms me again ! this time is tell me about remember collect my iphone on selected destination ( 1Utama on April 1 ,dun play me ar).For pre-ordered , it may provide starter kit for sign up ..dun know wan go or not ...

i feel v are not enough time to make a good comparison and good decision too... if i miss the pre-ordered collection , i will lost some discount / offer ?! i picked iphone 3GS white . my fren told me the price is quite similar with maxis ...one thing need to becareful is what version of that 3GS because for latest version 3.2.? that unable to crack now ..even if can run crack program in 3GS then u may encounter a problem ( the phone hang ?) .... i wan get a phone ,but i dun hope get expensive payment for each month ...

Weird..
So if i sub the i88 package and buy the phone cash at $1590 i have to pay $88 a month for 2 years ?

and $106 is all in 1 means it bunbled with i88 package for 3 yrs
therefore $106 x 36 = $3816
and (106 x 36) - ($88 x 36) = $648??? iphone only costs $648?

Yep.... u will need to subscribe to one of the other packages at that time or u can continue paying RM88 + RM106(for your iphone remaining 12 months)
*
oh means for the first 24 months.. i pay Rm106 for usage + [phone foc.. and the remianing 12 months.. i pay Rm106 for the phone only?

did the math. are u sure digi is cheaper? as far as i have compared. maxis iphone plans are still more worthwhile.
*
base on my calculation, if were to buy the phone outright without installment and comparing Digi's 88 plan vs Maxis 100 plan.

Monthly Plan:

Digi 88 vs Maxis 100 = Maxis -RM12

Internet Data:
Digi 1GB vs Maxis 500MB (additional 500MB will be additional rm250) = Maxis -262

SMS Plan:
Digi 200 SMS to all networks vs Maxis 100 SMS to Maxis = Maxis -272

Voice Plan:
Digi 200 mins vs Maxis 333 mins = Maxis -252.05

For maxis, you get discount of rm200 when you purchase phone. so meaning, the 1st month Maxis is worth RM52.05 less than Digi.

after that, the value of Digi's RM88 plan in terms of value is worth RM252 more than Maxis.

so how did you calculate that Maxis plans is more worthwhile?

I think those who got the email to collect the iPhone, are those who are existing Digi customers (priority).

Because I signed up for it too, but I didn't get any email (I'm not on Digi).

me received the invitation .. ( i am using Maxis .. I did register with digi online for this iphone )

BUT condition set by DIGI :

must collect at 1 utama on 3rd April 2010 ..otherwise NOT valid ...

meaning to say DIGI wanted to monitor the collection ..ok fine ..that's is their marketing method ..but what is the POINT for customers like me ..

I am not available to correct at 1 utama on 3rd april ...

when bother to set the" column" as where one prefer to collect in the website ..( i opt for collection at pavillion during register online with digi...

why can;t DIGI give us a "grace period" of one month (invitation ) to collect the iphone ....

so .. all in all .. this is another "SH%T" marketing strategy .... for what you know DIGI also do not have enough stock ...!!!
(just like Maxis b4 this )

so ... screw you ..DIGI ....!!!!

i don't see theres any problem with doing this. as a matter of fact, my colleague bought his maxis ivalue plan with iphone. he registered the ivalue plan to his own number and using it with his E72. he gave the iphone to gf, using Digi.

so right now he has 500mb quota on his E72.

Eh, I don't quite understand the plan at all.

Aren't Iphone 3Gs 16GB + 6 months iDigi Plan = RM 2,144.00?

Iphone (RM 1,590.00) + (6 months plan ((RM 88 X 6) + 5%) = RM 554.40) =~ RM 2,144.00???

QUOTE(drgnkid @ Mar 30 2010, 02:18 PM)

*
ah please, in the corporate world its not about being fair or honest. Its all about being smart in investing in infrastructure and also sustaining profit, first thing to consider, maxis was one of the first privately owned telco company in Malaysia, lucky for them they had a very deep pocket, and were very profitable and smart in investing in their infrastructure, it has always been a level playing field, its about whether or not you are smart in taking risks or opportunities. Please get your facts right Maxis is owned by Ananda Krishnan and i doubt he is part of the government.

lol this one looked so fake, i mean as in their effort to make it sounds like it’s “leaked”
perhaps sengaja-ter-sent the email is more appropriate.

why i'm saying that?

<rant>if it’s so easily “bocor-ed”, those packages and deals in the past should be so easily came out/slipped to the hand of their competitor. lol</rant>

but well, no one cares if its leaked or not as it'll finally start to heat up some competition for maxis to be less arrogant

ok according to the leaked poster and what i have analised

For 3Gs 16GB model, the basic plan

1. RM 159 x 24 = RM 3816
2. (RM 106 x 24) + (RM 106 x 12) = RM 3,816

which mean, for the 1st one, you are paying ALL-IN-ONE for 2 years, 24 months

for the 2nd one, you are paying the first 2 years with ALL-IN-ONE for the first 2 years, and purely RM 106 for the last 12 months just for the phone. We never know what is the plan available for 3rd year

so in the end, you are paying RM 3,816 for a IPhone 3GS 16GB with minutes, data, sms, and blablabla

For basic plan, no matter how you calculate, the phone itself cost you a RM 1,704

RM 159 - RM 88 = RM 71
RM 71 x 24 = RM 1704

RM 106 - RM 88 = RM 18
RM 18 x 24 + (RM 106x12) = RM 1704

Correct me if anything, just discuss biggrin.gif

RM 18 x 24 + (RM 106x12) = RM  1704

Correct me if anything, just discuss biggrin.gif

you mean have to deduct the tax ? hmm.gif

no point deduct the tax as you always need to pay it. and RM 106/RM 159 is already inclusive of tax

Yes... but once you're over the quota, maybe will be limited to 128kbps speed. Anyone can confirm?

Since i currently using iphone maxis plan, i would say worth it.

put aside the coverage part.

if u in city, worth it.
if u in jungle, get maxis
if u in town, get maxis
if u in oversea, get oversea plan

2. tether allowed ?

Digi definitely wins in terms of packages and pricing (tho the iphone price is similar, maxis announced today rm200 rebate till 20th april)

bt main concern is, COVERAGE, SPEED and services. All 3 Maxis wins napshot. so tats the issue..not sure of Digi's 3g

the speed of digi 3g is comparable with maxis if not faster, if you have the coverage.

what do you mean by services?

From a personal experience, I used to use maxis 3g but churn over to digi now. The speed is so much faster.

The confirmation email never said that Digi will sell outright... IMO it is a "ballpark estimate" notice for those intending to bring cash so people can anticipate how much to bring.

12. I am not a DiGi customer, can I enjoy the offer?
Yes. Just signup for a new line or switch your number. Please check this website on 31 March 2010 for pricing details.

does this mean no port in is allowed? I wonder is there any different between sign up a new line or switch the number?
