This thread is fast becoming a basic Q&A thread. Let's discuss something different.

How well your current credit card is serving you? For myself, I am still with Maybank due to the following reasons:-

1. 5x Petronas Point. I have plenty of tanks to be filled up each month, 5x point is really something. Imaging RM150/tank = 750 pts, I will get back almost RM4 worth of vouchers. Who needs the petite cash rebate then?

2. 2x point for any spending with AMEX, most grocery stores, gadgets, fine-dining and even shopping mall restaurants are accepting AMEX. Once in a while, there are promo of 10x points. I am really making full use of these offers including buying vouchers from groceries stores for use during non 10x period!

3. On-the-spot redemption, save me additional 1000 pts for every RM50 voucher. I always use my point to exchange for shopping/petrol vouchers because it's better value, it can be used during promotion in malls as well, that's additional discount. I used to get 167pts = RM1 voucher, but now they have increased to 186pts = RM1.

4. Maybank point never expires, so keep accumulating! All your different cards with Maybank, Amex, Petronas, Supplementary etc etc, the points can be accumulated as well.

5. Annual fee waiver, required a call to Maybank, but easily waived for all the cards under your account.

6. The bad point is, their customer service line is extraordinarily hard-to-reach, if not impossible, even for their dedicated Platinum line.

I am now exploring what HSBC can offers, so do share yours! HSBC customer service, to me, is top-notch. Anytime I call, I can get a human to talk to me immediately. I thought the good service is only for Premier card holder, but even the phone number for Plat and Gold card owners are great!

The charge will be factored into your redemption point, you get substantially lesser point for redeeming at Maybank Centre.

To answer a query above, the cost is included when redeeming MBB TP. E.g. Jusco RM100 voucher costs about 21,000 TP. But if redeem at MBB Counter (e.g. 1Utama), it costs about 16,700 TP only.

However, I don't think all items can be redeem this way.

No more 16,700, beginning 1/4/2010, it has been revised to 20,000. Parkson has the cheapest at 19,300.

shocking.gif Wow, lucky I cleared up all my TP last year @16,700 TP for each RM100 Jusco voucher. You can say I saved couple hundred RM of inflation sweat.gif

Looks like inflation again. doh.gif Many years ago, it is only about 8000-9000 TP for RM100 vouchers.

Guys, anyone know how to activate Verifiedbyvisa/MastercardSecurecode for Citibank card? I can't find that in my citibank online service menu. It's available on my MBF card and it add another protection so even if they know your last 3 digit number, they still have to pass the SecureSign in order to proceed.

nvm i found out citibank don't have it >.<

try clean the chip with an eraser first... then try the card at another outlet... if the chip doesn't work, does the magnetic strip work?
later call the maybank card centre and wait for ages till they pick up the call...
they'll say did u try this and that thingy...

just say u've tried all ways but chip spoil, so ask for a replacement card... either to be courier or send to your collection branch...
depending on their "efficiency"... it might take ages for the new card to arrive...
mine took a month to arrive and that's after I called a few times threatening to cancel the card...

asked them to courier and they send to the branch instead... sweat.gif
the funny thing is that after i took the new card, about a week later, the branch called again to say "sir, ur card has arrive..." AGAIN rclxub.gif
they double key in and process the card replacement...

btw, the card replacement is free of charge... no need to pay anything... in any case, don't say is yourself who spoil the card... just say dunno... no crack nothing... just cannot work...

I am no football fan but i got to admit that the card design is pretty awesome biggrin.gif If i were to choose between a generic Maybankard or any other card, no doubt i'll go for this SONY VISA. Petronas VISA won't benefit me as i am strictly a SHELL user.

The best is Citi i might say..as they provide cashback for you..

but.......

Well,it's your first cc..so basically i will suggest that HSBC to be taken out of your consideration straight away..MBB and Citi will be very hard to apply too..RHB is the easiest of the 4 banks..but its rubbish.. sweat.gif

i suggest u go for HLB,CIMB or Alliance first..as their cards are quite good and easier to get approval.. icon_rolleyes.gif
