can anyone confirm whether the limited edition sony card comes with visa wave? because based on the maybank website it does not, whereas there is visa wave for the normal edition sony card.

The best is Citi i might say..as they provide cashback for you..

but.......

Well,it's your first cc..so basically i will suggest that HSBC to be taken out of your consideration straight away..MBB and Citi will be very hard to apply too..RHB is the easiest of the 4 banks..but its rubbish.. sweat.gif

i suggest u go for HLB,CIMB or Alliance first..as their cards are quite good and easier to get approval.. icon_rolleyes.gif

very hard? hmm.gif
I heard most of my colleague said Citi approves applications in a rather fast and easy manner.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

MBB and Alliance is having one of the worst customer service.
Think twice before applying (that is if yours is going to be approved. no offense)

Since nowadays there'll be a RM50 tax levied on each credit card, find the best that SUITS your needs.
Just my 2cents.

try clean the chip with an eraser first... then try the card at another outlet... if the chip doesn't work, does the magnetic strip work?
later call the maybank card centre and wait for ages till they pick up the call...
they'll say did u try this and that thingy...

just say u've tried all ways but chip spoil, so ask for a replacement card... either to be courier or send to your collection branch...
depending on their "efficiency"... it might take ages for the new card to arrive...
mine took a month to arrive and that's after I called a few times threatening to cancel the card...

asked them to courier and they send to the branch instead... sweat.gif
the funny thing is that after i took the new card, about a week later, the branch called again to say "sir, ur card has arrive..." AGAIN rclxub.gif
they double key in and process the card replacement...

btw, the card replacement is free of charge... no need to pay anything... in any case, don't say is yourself who spoil the card... just say dunno... no crack nothing... just cannot work...

But today I try at Jusco it works, don't know whats wrong with my card. hmm.gif

MBB's CS through email is quite ok. I emailed them a few days ago requesting them to transfer TPs from my AMEX Ikhwan to my Petronas Ikhwan, as I cancelled my AMEX Ikhwan already. Took them a couple of days only to settle. I've called them only once, and was picked up quite soon. Maybe coz I called quite early.

For TP transfer, I have called them (Maybank CS) few times to check for status update which is quite irritating actually.

theoretically, any local bank's card bearing the logo amex, visa, or mastercard will be accepted overseas...
although to be on the safe side, try applying from well-known international bank such as hsbc, scb, etc.
but since it's a spare card, i guess just go for the card most suitable (in cashback, dining discounts, etc.) for you regardless local or international...

If you want a card from another internationally known bank, i'd say go for HSBC. It is a highly recognizable bank in US especially in the New York State as most of their 300+ banking branches are actually located there.

Besides, many have complained that the forex charged by Standard Chartered credit card is very high compared to all other banks. Standard Chartered is big and famous in Asia but not a very known bank in the US/Europe.

In terms of their cash back or cash vouchers value, they are more or less the same.

I first made my request when I cancelled the card at a branch. The officer said that I can try emailing them also for TPs transfer, just to make sure the request went through. Coz he had put my request on the cancellation form also. So I emailed them, then they asked for my IC and the last 4 digits of my CCs. After a couple of days, the TPs from my AMEX are already under my Visa.

Having a savings account won't help in your credit card application. What's important is your income and credit score.

The HSBC staff at the HSBC branch i frequent told me it takes only a maximum of 7 working days to transfer the HSBC rewards points from my VISA to MasterCard or vice-versa. I will cancel my VISA in a few months time and see if they can deliver as promised.

The branch officer did put my TP transfer request on the cancellation form but didn't ask me to call/email CS.
