I would like to ask..when applying for a new cc,banks normally request salary slip and bank statement..
Lets say i'm applying for Citibank credit card and my salary is credited to my Maybank account, will Citibank (or should i say have the right)to cross-check with Maybank whether the statement is correct?..or they just check with CCRIS?.
Anyone can help?..

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 28 2010, 11:51 AM) This checking is done by all banks and not just Ctibank or Maybank. CCRIS contains common info gathered from all banks and shared with all banks. Not only for CC ... but banks will check you when you want to apply loan or even open an account. It is part of any banks T&C so if you reject the checking, the bank will say "Thank you and Good Bye, Please try elsewhere". You sounded like you have something to worry about. (Or maybe not) Ah.. So they don't check between banks?..like to confirm salary amount credited is are correct?.. Nothing to worry about, just curious..but its just a privacy matter..some banks(for instance CIMB) doesn't require bank statements and yet they approve(or not) some of the cc applicants..

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Mar 28 2010, 09:16 PM) To check your debt standing, credit score etc is quite common. But for all the banks in Malaysia to share your information about your savings you have with "xxx bank" and "xxz bank" is not true. The banks are extremely sensitive with your total deposit you have with them and will not share it with anyone else unless requested by LHDN with a court order or BNM. I do believe this is true..if a bank have the right to check ur savings account of other banks, why would they bother about asking the usual "3 months bank statement"..they should just ask your account number instead..

QUOTE(siutimtim @ Mar 29 2010, 04:57 PM) Thanks JJBerry, I mean platinum card worr. not Infinite or Word le. I am sure OCBC Platinum Mastercard is not a difficult or high class one la.. - Few of my friends got a housing loan from ocbc, income like 4k plus/month they are offered ocbc plat card without even applying it. They all say it is free for life as long as they still serving the load so they just take loh.. Maybe your friends have good credit rating, and they repay the loan on time..so they are offered a plat card..some of my friends have plat card offered to them too..

QUOTE(siutimtim @ Mar 29 2010, 05:08 PM) I don't think so because 3 of them got the card offered once their loan is approved.. haha I thought CTB plat is difficult to get but 3.5k as mentioned by other forummer can get already ???? then i can try to apply one too.. hehe Maybe you can try to apply?..my friend applied for SCB plat with income only at 3.5k..he got it and even better thing is,SCB offered him a business plat instead(the prettier looking card) One thing is for sure,it's easier to apply a CC when u have a loan with a bank..

QUOTE(siutimtim @ Mar 29 2010, 05:38 PM) 30k credit limit is consider high or low???? normally what income can get 30k credit? Depends on how much you are earning per month..if you are earning let say 4k per month,30k credit limit might be possible..but normally only a plat card can reach that credit limit..

QUOTE(koayty @ Mar 31 2010, 02:44 PM) I need advice on what card I can apply for me, Working 2 years, no card yet, no house no cars, salary around 30 to 35k per year including incentives. Tried to apply HSBC but rejected. HSBC would be your last choice of card to apply as your first card..They will approve only those with a credit rating, like having loans or cc before.. banks normally review your qualification based on your basic salary and not your net/gross salary.. i would recommend Citibank clear card..

QUOTE(hye @ Mar 31 2010, 04:52 PM) Card cancellation is easy if you do it properly. Those who had problems cut corners and ended up with problems. BTW ... you don't have a card but already thinking to cancel a card + very particular .... good thing that cancellation is given a thought before applying one if not citibank then maybe SCB?..

Normally banks consider your application or qualification based on your basic salary..not gross..so even if any banks apprrove ur application, they will only give u a low credit limit..very low..

QUOTE(shikuzika @ Apr 8 2010, 09:15 PM) will any bank accept, and approve, my credit card application (first time application) if i've only been working for a month. any chance? *unrelated to credit card* if not can i take a personal loan? I highly doubt that..you need to at least be employed for 3 mths.. Added on April 9, 2010, 2:36 amNormally banks will require your banking statement for cc application..when you scan your latest statement and submit it to the bank, will it matter or effects your chances of getting approved if the account balance is always close to zero?..or they just inspect whether the salary is credited every month?.. Anyone knows?.. This post has been edited by krylicius: Apr 9 2010, 02:36 AM

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Apr 10 2010, 12:15 PM) All the KFC in Malaysia are using credit card processing terminals from CIMB Bank. So we can actually pay by sticking the card (only with Paypass feature) to the terminal and it will save a lot of time. However, nobody seems to know how to use it. Not even the cashier No one bother to try that feature..everybody uses the chip to do transaction.. Anyhow,i dont see many ppl using cc at kfc..maybe bcuz its not that expensive..
