Currently I am holding a Singapore bank credit card which is the Citibank Premier Miles Platinum to be exact. With my income, I found that SG banks kinda gave a higher credit limit compared to local banks here. Now thinking of wanna cancel a few local cards and get more SG cards that we dont have it here.

If he is working, residing and spending most of his time in Singapore, then it is advisable for him to use CCs issued in Singapore. smile.gif

In Malaysia, I hate to hear cashier counter staff say this, "sorry, we don't accept cc for spending less than RM50".

Not to mention they pass the 2% charge to the customers when they should be absorbing it.

Unfortunately, SCB has suspended issuing this card until further notice. It is the BEST ever cash rebate card I have seen thus far. It gives you 5% cash back for ALL retail transactions (including petrol) done on Fridays and 2% rebate on non-Fridays. On top of that, every RM1 spending gives you 0.5 reward points.

Yes you could do that. There are a couple of ways to do it. First you could apply for personal loan & settle your CC debt. Second way you could do balance transfer to other CC . Remember paying minimum amount per month, will take you long long time to settle yur debt.

Balance Trasnfer to another CC is to reduce the interest charged.
Eg. you owe RM10k on Card A with you pay 18% p.a.
If you choose the right Balance Transfer to Card B, you maybe charge a lower interest (eg. 9% p.a.)

First thing for balance transfer, you need to have another credit card from another bank with sufficent credit limit. The CL which I'm talking about need to be larger than the debt that you want to transfer out.

Normally all banks offer balance transfer but you need to shop around to check which is the lowest interest and offer repayment period that is suitable to you. Again ... check out if there are promos for balance transfer @ the point of new card application or ongoing ones.

You can inquire this @ via the bank CS before you go out and apply the card. Likely you need to fill up an extra form in addition to the cc application. Please bear in mind that balance transfer is not automatically approved - new cc need to be issued first before the bank will check you out whether you are OK for the balance transfer.

One more tip ... the card you use for balance transfer do not ever use it for your retail purchase and please pay according to the monthly amount required by the bank. Please don't take it lightly and use the card for retail purchase or just pay minimum amount again against the bank required monthly payment. (Coz that's what got your friend into huge debt in the first place)

Alliance Bank credit card doesn't have any admin fee for overseas usage. Maybank has 0.5% admin charge when you use your Maybank credit card overseas but a comparison showed by "Winner" that it has the lowest exchange rate and it is lower than Alliance Bank even after factoring in the admin fee.

It is 1% actually, not 1.5%.

Someone mention before, CC is not PBB main business, as the founder knows the profit from it is low. Also cut throat and a lot of defaulters. Hence, PBB concentrate more on other products. If you notice, PBB did not advertise or go all the way in its CC business, promotion, etc.

Don't even bother to apply for Public Bank credit card. The cash rebate is super low at only 0.3% when most banks that are also using cash rebate system give 0.5%. There rarely is a promotion. You should just forget about Public Bank and apply for Maybank or CIMB Bank credit cards instead. Good luck !

Eh... shocking.gif it wasn't me. It was from Gen-X in fact. I don't even have a cc from MBB (I exclude Amex cc). biggrin.gif

CIMB is fast but MBB is damn slow on the contrary. Don't be surprised that MBB would take longer time to process your cc application as compared to PBB. biggrin.gif
