QUOTE(aeronlim @ Sep 18 2009, 08:45 AM) I think this is because citibank can be used on oversea transaction, Any VISA and Mastercard issued by any local or foreign banks can be used overseas, not just Citibank's QUOTE(winner @ Sep 18 2009, 09:14 AM) Citi has the highest number of customers in cc segment in Malaysia. No longer the case. Maybank now has the highest number of customers in credit card segment in Malaysia since mid-2009, as reported by Star Newspaper, The Edge and Bernama QUOTE(winner @ Sep 18 2009, 09:14 AM) However, after you are already in and become their cardholders, you will find the benefits offered are just so-so, except for discount at various mid to high-end F&B outlets. Agreed. There aren't really many privileges as many claimed. CIMB Bank Mastercard offers way more discounts. The redemption point needed to redeem for shopping vouchers from Citibank is also very high and not many choices QUOTE(vin_ann @ Sep 18 2009, 09:20 AM) yeah. although citibank only have few branches, it have the highest number of cardholder! This is not necessarily a good thing. Citibank NA is losing millions of US$ every month from their credit card business. Credit card is a very risky business. This is the very reason why our homegrown Public Bank and the Singaporean bank, OCBC Bank do not invest much money in their credit card business.shame to local bank... Anyways, the crown now belongs to Maybank, NOT Citibank. This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 18 2009, 10:04 AM |

QUOTE(jphlau @ Sep 18 2009, 11:56 AM) Tell the promoter that HSBC has the lowest approval rate for credit card... Each case is unique. For instance, my mom's application for HSBC VISA Gold was approved instantly but Alliance Bank rejected her application for You:nique QUOTE(ellimist @ Sep 18 2009, 10:30 AM) @MilesAndMore :Regarding MBB, I'm assuming that's relating to customer base and not in terms of usage? Indeed it is based on customer base.QUOTE(winner @ Sep 18 2009, 12:57 PM) Citi itself is already a "brand" and very well recognised, while HSBC is catching up. This round of global financial crisis has somehow reversely affected Citi's image. Its image is tarnished, badly I find it rather interesting that Public Bank's receivables is higher than UOB Bank. UOB Bank has been promoting its credit card aggressively over the last several year. |

QUOTE(charymsylyn @ Sep 19 2009, 07:54 AM) He's most likely referring to the charge card, but it is free for first 3 years, not that short period of time. Not quite. Since the post he quoted clearly states AMEX Gold cc QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Sep 18 2009, 07:24 PM) QUOTE(aeronlim @ Sep 18 2009, 02:38 PM) U can try this, AMEX Gold cc, it can get 5x point for groceries and petrol, 2x point for others, free for life, and if u dont want the point, u can use the point to make cash rebate. U can get CIMB (really free annual fee without swipe), or i prefer Maybank coz easier to maintain since i got saving account... |

QUOTE(Aeon_Clock @ Sep 20 2009, 10:44 AM) we're referring to all petrol stations...not just Shell. And i was saying Shell's kiosk can detect AMEX, unlike Petronas. Plain and simple. Why is it so hard to understand ? and yes, some cannot detect at the kiosk...must go into the counter to pay. I just tried that yesterday at BHP SS2. QUOTE(DarReNz @ Sep 20 2009, 12:44 PM) looks like AMEX have same prob with justone Huh ? Please explain. I don't think they have the same problems. Justone has ATM issue, pin number problem and the debit/credit function. AMEX doesn't have this problem at all.It is already known for quite some time that Petronas kiosk cannot detect AMEX and you need to swipe it at the cashier. Some have also said that certain Petronas stations do not even accept AMEX, even if at the cashier counter. Thank God there is always Shell |

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 20 2009, 06:24 PM) I guess either MBB or Petronas purposely do not fix the problems in Petronas stations. It could probably a measure to protect MBB Petronas cc. Never mind. Let's all forget about Petronas and start pumping Shell instead QUOTE(Gen-X @ Sep 20 2009, 06:44 PM) Anyway I want to comment on DA/CIMB stupid payment system. I have both MCW and VI and supp to my wife. Therefore got 4 different statements for each card. When I go make payment I have to key in each card statement at the cheque deposit machine and this also often the amount is not credited into my supp card (i.e. payment to my account only). Last month CIMB stupid machine cannot make payment for VI. So had to make payment to MC account and then call CS to transfer. DA sure wasting my time and money for phone calls. If not for the 5% rebate at TESCO and Petrol on 1st of every month I would have just put the card into the drawer. True. Just a reminder to all CIMB Bank credit cardholders who have supplementary card(s), you need to make a separate payment to your supplementary credit card because it doesn't work like all other banks where you need to bank in the money into the principal cardholder's account only. I found this out early last year This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 20 2009, 07:06 PM |

OCBC new Great Eastern Mastercard
The card is nicely designed. Comes with a more generous rebate compared to the old OCBC Great Eastern Mastercard. You all big spender should definitely apply for this card but bear in mind that there is a cap. The maximum rebate for Platinum is RM3000/pa and RM2000/pa for Titanium card. QUOTE(hye @ Sep 21 2009, 10:06 AM) Just noticed the latest update from SCB. Bro MilesAndMore previously mentioned this in Credit Card V7 Yes. Discussed it in the Priority Banking thread last week. You probably missed it SCB Priority Banking VISA Infinite Not much difference from your typical SCB VISA Infinite except that you can now earn points from your deposits in SCB as well. Stated in the website that this will be a complimentary card and upon invitation only. QUOTE(winner @ Sep 21 2009, 12:20 PM) It's only a marketing gimmick. Even public can apply for SCB VI now. It's different actually as the VISA Infinite for Standard Chartered Priority Banking customers have "Priority Banking" embossed on it. Just like the HSBC Premier Mastercard. This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 21 2009, 01:12 PM |

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 21 2009, 10:14 AM) We have discussed this card in the "American Express Thread". See my posts #2259 at Page 113 and #2261 at Page 114. Oh, did not realize you were already talking about it then. Thought you were talking about the OCBC Great Eastern Gold Mastercard as they only had this back then. It seems they no longer offer the Gold card now and instead they are offering Titanium and Platinum Great Eastern Mastercard now.The is no mentioned of auto fee waiver in this newly launched OCBC Great Eastern Mastercard. Last time the annual fee for the OCBC Great Eastern Gold Mastercard will be automatically waived if you have auto-debit service for your Great Eastern insurance policy registered with the card. Is it platinum? im kinda confused here dunno which card im going to get but the promoter told me there is RM100 credited once the card comes. It is a Titanium card. Something in between Gold card and Platinum card. Standard Chartered is not accepting new application for JustOne Titanium Mastercard at the moment. |

QUOTE(winner @ Sep 22 2009, 05:12 PM) But then, why are you interested in this card since Amex gold cc would give you 5x points (equivalent to 2.5% rebate) for purchases in all hypermarket? That is so so true. Guys, all you need is the AMEX Gold credit card !!!! QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Sep 22 2009, 05:16 PM) hey guys, i was thinking applying one or two credit cards but now i was thinking of want to apply for Eon GSC credit card and HSBC credit card. is this 2 bank's credit card good? HSBC is quite good actually. The points needed to redeem for shopping vouchers are one of the lowest in town, the lowest being CIMB Bank and American Express Membership Rewards. For special discounts you need to refer to their SmartPrivileges catalogue online. Currently there is this 10% off at Starbucks i am taking advantage off QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Sep 22 2009, 05:16 PM) both of them got waived annual fees right? I have 2 HSBC credit cards. The first year annual fee for one of the cards is free. The annual fee for the second year onwards will be automatically waived provided you swipe it at least 12 times in a year. This applies to all HSBC Classic, Gold and Platinum credit cards. This automatic fee waiver however, is not mentioned in their conventional credit card application form but all the HSBC staff told me the same thing, should be a real deal i suppose. QUOTE(winner @ Sep 22 2009, 08:50 PM) Nevertheless, Citibank should seriously review its cash back policy. The requirement of "carried forward balance" would simply drive consumers away! True. It's bullshit really. This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 22 2009, 09:19 PM |

QUOTE(CrossFirE @ Sep 22 2009, 09:26 PM) hmm.. so it is good for applying for HSBC credit card? Overall yes it is good. I'd say it's better than Citibank. Citibank seems to be such a hit even now and i still don't quite get that. The redemption points needed are also much higher compared to CIMB Bank, HSBC, AMEX just to name a few. If one day i have the money to become their Citigold customer and i am given a complimentary VISA Platinum credit card, i'll probably just put it inside my drawer. Or may be a year later i'll apply one of their cards, just for collection It just seems many are in favor Citibank credit card just because of the name "Citibank". They just want to use a card from a global bank. You want global bank ? Then go for HSBC. It's way bigger than Citibank (with more than 9000 branches in the world compared to 4500+ Citibank branches) and HSBC has a good image This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 22 2009, 11:51 PM |

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Sep 22 2009, 10:50 PM) I'm curious if owning a CC from international bank is necessary? Definitely not an issue. My dad had no problem using his Maybank VISA in Hong Kong and even USA.Currently I only own CCs from local banks only. Just a note to CIMB Bank credit cardholders. If you have your CIMB CLICKS enabled, you do not need to call CIMB Bank credit card centre to inform them you're going overseas and you might use their card there. You can enable the card for overseas use yourself via CIMB CLICKS. Actually it is already set for overseas use by default but you can just go to check it before going overseas, just to be on the safe side This post has been edited by MilesAndMore: Sep 22 2009, 11:57 PM |
