why when u use CC at petrol station to pump petrol, they will deduct RM200 from your credit limit, regardless of how much spend at the petrol station(assuming u did not spend more than 200 at the pump station)

anyone still remember the CC surcharge issue? I emailed my bank and this is their respond: QUOTE Dear Mr. Jasonkwk,
Thank you for your email.
We understand your concern on this matter and would like to advise that the bank will take the appropriate actions against merchants who impose surcharges to cardholders.
Nevertheless, if the cardholders agreed with the surcharges amount imposed by the said merchants, the bank would not be able to do anything in this circumstance. This is because the merchants would have indicated of such amount before they would accept any credit card payment. In this respect, cardholders have the options whether to proceed with the transaction or not.
On the other hand, if the merchants charge the cardholders without any form of consent given by the latter, the bank will not hesitate to act accordingly on the complaint.
We trust the above clarifies.
Should you require further assistance, we can be contacted via email or Call Centre at 603-XXXXXXX- 24 Hours Customer Service.

QUOTE(winner @ Nov 25 2009, 09:58 AM) The answer is many, many more! If the banks cannot do anything, you may try to direct the letter to MC/VISA. So far a lot of people have written to the respective banks but they have never written to MC/VISA directly. Do you have the email adress of MC?

QUOTE(ronnie @ Nov 25 2009, 11:18 AM) Best to boycott such merchants who charge CC admin fees... that is also my bank advice. But that does not solve the root of this problem.
