No worries. I have never trusted and tried BT, PL, cash advance and easy payment scheme. There is no free lunch in this world.

On a different note, has anyone seen this declaration of service tax by UOB?
http://www1.uob.com.my/assets/pdf/faq/servtax_faq.pdf
*
The FAQ from UOB seems to indicate that the service tax is due on the cc anniversary date, and not 1/1/2010.
Read the Q6, and the A6.

do u know the credit line of this card will share with other hsbc visa cc? or separate?
A Hye said, it is separated from all other range of HSBC credit cards.

QUOTE(hye @ Dec 2 2009, 05:12 PM)
If I remember there could be a "World" word printed on the card but don't be fooled - HSBC Malaysia is not listed as one of the World Mastercard issuers by MC International.
Indeed the current version of HSBC Premier Mastercard still bears the "World", just that it is printed on beside the Mastercard logo now.

why is HSBC not a Worldcard issuer? I also notice that HSBC has the worst range of credit cards around. I mean, all they have is Classic, Gold, VI, MC Premier.

It is. Just that HSBC Malaysia is not. HSBC USA, HSBC Canada, HSBC Japan, HSBC Australia all issue real Premier World Mastercard, just to name a few.

According to my source in UOB, the absorbtion of the RM50 servive tax is strictly at the discretion of their management and NOT an across the board policy. Amongst the criterias are past spending pattern, total card tenure, card types etc.  whistling.gif

And if its of any consequence, I have been with them for over 15+ years  tongue.gif
*
Good to learn above, got to call UOB CS manager and pester him to give me the RM50 waiver, haha

I also started holding UOB Gold Visa card in 1991 when I first started work and they upgraded to Plat when they launched the card. I remember the first time I used the Plat card to buy a Nokia phone, the sales manager was so impressed with it. Nowadays who cares what card you have.

QUOTE(vin_ann @ Dec 2 2009, 05:20 PM)
btw, now which card is best to be used in Singapore?

PBB? Amex? OCBC?
*
AMEX a big no no.

MBB the best card to use overseas. Even though Alliance claims that there is no admin fees for overseas transactions whereas MBB charges are 0.5%, after conversion MBB rate is lower. Maybe is because the exchange rate for Alliance's is higher than MBB's. Confirm this when I use both MBB and Alliance in SG few month back. But do note, Alliance have 2X reward for overseas transaction and therefore not much diff.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 2 2009, 04:57 PM)
Credit line is quite a sensitive issue. You won't get a definite answer here regarding the credit line of HSBC Premier Mastercard. But one thing i can confirm you is that the starting credit line for HSBC VISA Platinum and HSBC Premier Mastercard is RM30k.
*
HSBC Premier MC starting CL only RM30K? Don't one have to have at least RM200K in some kind of deposit with HSBC to qualify for Premier Account? I would expect a higher CL since my HSBC Plat CL higher RM30K the day I got the card and I don't even have a single sen deposited with them.

QUOTE(winner @ Dec 2 2009, 05:41 PM)
Hey...some people already BC this bank and stop promoting it again. Btw, except 0% BT plan, I don't find anything SPECIAL about their CCs.
*
You have SCB JustOneCard that's why tongue.gif Actually I do like CIMB/DA MC because their cards are truly FOC and always have special offer at MPH and get 2% petrol at all petrol stations (which I use at Petronas) and offer discount at some of the food outlets I go to. The BIG negative part of CIMB/DA is that they charges courier fees for delivery of item with reward points redemption, I am fortunate that I can drop by their HQ to collect and save the fees.

I would like to say that eventhough HSBC may not have a wide range of card but their CS is pretty good. Only thing I don't like is that their promotional gifts are not guaranteed eventhough you spend tons of money with them.

this week, went to eonbank to cancel my CC, the CS asked me to hold on to it first, although they cannot waive the RM50, they will do cash rebate promotion to compensate customer in this sense, and that the service tax is due on the CC annivesary date.

I tried to cancel my CIMB by faxing the cancellation letter.
Even if just wanting to confirm whether they've received the letter also takes them 36 hours and counting to response.

Either they're really busy or their effectiveness is questionable.
So much for a top bank in Malaysia. laugh.gif

Whoa I was thinking of cancelling my Direct Access Visa and keeping the Direct Access Mastercard while waiting for news on the tax. Guess I should hold off until more news is forthcoming.

Or maybe I should just cancel them both since the first of the month (5%) has already passed and no news on a renewal of the offer.

You are not the only customer that they have. Probably with the service tax, they have hundred of thousands or millions cancelling their card by now. I know banks need to be efficient but I think your comments is slightly uncalled for.

FYI, I am not working with them and already cancelled my cards with them.

It would be better to get the official confirmation from the government directly.

I know the current 0% BT for 6 months is quite an interesting deal. However, BT plan is just not my cup of coffee as banks will normally charge a heavy penalty if you miss a single payment. Moreover, with the re-emergence of Dubai debt crisis, I dare not touch stock market now and I would rather invest in defensive investments like FD and property in Malaysia.

My JustOne cc reached the max rebate limit in 2 months so currently this card is temporarily not with me. And now, I have to use other rebate cards like Alliance and Amex Gold cc.

As for the concern over courier charges for CIMB/DA, I guess you will spend more (time, petrol, parking and car service) if you personally go to their HQ in Damansara Heights to collect the redemption items. biggrin.gif

haha.. if you noticed, I didn't curse. I can understand their situation.
The problem is, I just want to confirm whether they've RECEIVED my letter, not to inquire whether my card is CANCELED.

There's a huge difference. 1 is just check whether they got the fax and another is check for the processed status of cancellation. And I assume not everyone faxed in to cancel their cards. smile.gif

Very true, finding a parking at Damansara Heights during office hours can vomit blood; fortunately, i don't have to worry about parking my car.
