The D90 is a digital single-lens reflex camera model announced by Nikon on August 27, 2008. It is a "prosumer" model (cross between professional and consumer) meant as a replacement for the Nikon D80. It is also available with the newly announced Nikkor AF-S DX 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR kit lens.
Some of the improvements the D90 offers over the D80 include 12.3 megapixel resolution and live view capability. The D90 is also notable for being the first DSLR to offer video recording, with the ability to record HD 720p videos, with mono sound, at 24 frames per second (for up to 5 minutes or 20 minutes for smaller videos).

How to know whether your camera is brand new? Best to do this test before you make payment.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
1. For brand new camera, the very first time you switch on your camera, it should ask you to set the language, region, date and time.
2. Even if you reset the camera, the language, region, date and time will remain un-reset. So best way to guess it is brand new camera, is by seeing those screens.
How to detect Dead/Hot Pixel on your sensor? Best to do this test before you make payment.
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
1. Put your Lens Cap on.
2. Set to Manual focus.
3. Disable AutoISO. Manually set ISO to 3200.
4. Take a photo.
5. View the image from your camera. Zoom in a little.
6. Try to spot blue/red/green dots. If it is there. Congratulations! You have got Dead/Hot Pixel.
What to do if you have Dead/Hot Pixel on your sensor?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Option 1:- 1. Send to Nikon Service Centre. They will remap it for you. This process might take up to 10 days.
2. Remapping doesn't guarantee to solve the problem permanently. The Dead/Hot Pixel might appear again in the future.
Option 2:- 1. Live with it. It is only a few pixel out of the millions of pixel.
2. Take photos in NEF (Nikon RAW).
3. Use Adobe LightRoom / Nikon Capture NX to process the photo from NEF (Nikon RAW) into JPEG. Both the software will auto remove the Dead/Hot Pixel when export NEF (Nikon RAW) to JPEG. No need to do any settings. Basically, just import NEF (Nikon RAW) -> export to JPEG. Dead/Hot pixel will be removed automatically in the JPEG.
4. Wait until your warranty is about to be over. Send it for remapping and cleaning.

4. Find a plain white & bright surface (eg. Blank A4 Paper, Wall, Sky, etc).
5. Zoom in and take a photo.
6. View the image from your camera. Zoom in a little.
7. Try to spot dots. If it is there. Congratulations! You have got Dust.
How to remove Dust from your sensor?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Option 1:- 1. Live with it, if the Dust is not obvious in all the images.
2. You can ignore it or use post processing to remove the dots manually.
Option 2:- 1. The Dust gets too many, and you are tired of post processing, so...
2. Send to Nikon Service Centre. They will clean it for you.
Option 3:- 1. You get tired of going to Nikon Service Centre all the time, so...
2. Clean it yourself. This can be risky if you do not have the right tools and know what you are doing.
3. Below are some good info on how you can remove Dust from your sensor:-
5. Find the entry 'Total Number of Shutter Releases for Camera'. The value represents the shutter count.
Which SDHC memory card should you go for?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
For 8GB, Nikon D90 can take up to 539 NEF (Nikon RAW) files. For 16GB, Nikon D90 can take up to 1114 NEF (Nikon RAW) files.
If you plan to take in JPEG mode, the number of files will be more than double the amount of NEF (Nikon RAW) files. That is really a lot for normal day2day shooting or short trip.
So what is recommended? My personal opinion is go for 8GB, SDHC (30MB/s edition). Take note of the logo on the SDHC memory card. Don't be confused by 30MB/s Edition and 20MB/s Edition.
Now, let's say you need more capacity / have more money? Should you go for 16GB? A lot of people would advise that you should not put all the eggs in one basket. Same advise can be applied here. It would be advisable to have multiple SDHC memory card rather than 1 big capacity. This is just in case it got corrupted, not all photos are lost and you still have another SDHC memory card with you to use.
It would also be recommended to format your SDHC memory card (from your camera) every time after you have access it from a computer.

SanDisk Extreme 3 SDHC 30MB/s memory cards : SanDisk set a new speed record of 30 megabytes per second for Secure Digital flash memory cards with the introduction of the SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition line of SDHC flash memory cards. The new SanDisk flash memory cards, expected to be available worldwide in September in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities, are designed to deliver peak performance when used with the new digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera, Nikon D90. The Nikon D90 Digital SLR is the industry’s first DSLR camera to support SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition SDHC cards at increased performance.
Nikon D90 memory card Featuring a 50-percent speed boost from previous 20MB/s cards, the new SanDisk Extreme III 30MB/s Edition SDHC card makes it possible to record 39 images in continuous shooting mode at 4.5 frames per second with a file size of 6.0 MB JPEG L Fine per image. The Nikon D90 camera captures high-resolution, 12.3 megapixel still images, and it is Nikon’s first DSLR to offer movie recording capability.
Advantages & Disadvantages of taking photos in NEF (Nikon RAW)?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
Advantages:- 1. NEF (Nikon RAW) gives the flexibility and better result for post processing (eg, White Balance, Exposure, etc). If you choose to do post processing on JPEG, the output might not be as good as from NEF (Nikon RAW).
2. If you have Dead/Hot pixels, with Nikon Capture NX / Adobe LightRoom, the conversion from NEF (Nikon RAW) to JPEG will auto remove the Dead/Hot pixels (without any need of adjustment). Just import NEF (Nikon RAW) and export to JPEG.
Disadvantages:- 1. Need more storage space on your memory card.
2. Need more storage space on your computer hard drive.
3. Need some time to post process from NEF (Nikon RAW) into JPEG.

How to convert NEF (Nikon RAW) to JPEG easily?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
1. I've tried a couple of software, and I think the easiest and most user friendly program to do conversion from NEF (Nikon RAW) to JPEG is Adobe LightRoom (commercial software). LightRoom has option to batch convert NEF (Nikon RAW) to JPEG easily. It also allows batch post processing.
2. Run LightRoom.
3. Import NEF (Nikon RAW).
4. If necessary, make adjustment to the image.
5. Export to JPEG.
6. You can do adjustment to all the NEF (Nikon RAW) before exporting to JPEG at one go.
7. You can delete the NEF (Nikon RAW) files since you have the processed it into JPEG output. You can choose to keep those important NEF (Nikon RAW) files for future post processing.

B+W best brand. price for batt RM150 plus delivery. good tripod may defer. ofcourse the best would cost more than 300. suggested to save to get better ones. rest cant answer.. sry

yalor..thts why the quality concerns me..but i want bokeh and fast lens. and i don rly like primes.. I guess i have to try my luck..
get the one with 009*** batch. less reported problem
Currently I'm using Tamron 17-50 VC so far no focusing problem even in low light compare to my old Tamron 18-270 VC. IQ wise very sharp except 50mm focal length obviously soft @ f/2.8 but no problem at f/3.5.
I can say Tamron 17-50mm VC is really worth the money. A lot of users saying that the VC is not necessary for 17-50mm focal length. My answer is NO, the VC is very useful even in wide focal length. I can shoot at 1 sec with handheld @ f/2.8. Can non-VC do that? I don't think so..
The VC activation is a bit slow compare to VR and OS. It takes about 0.3sec to activate the VC.
im leaning more to the 1750VC...wht do u guys think?
1750VC if you want a versatile indoor lens with decent bokeh. 18-200(get the old version is good enough, anyhow it's the same VR II mechanism) if you want something which will be easy for you, but willing to sacrifice a little on the sharpness and IQ. 35mm F1.8, my personal opinion, not a lens i will get. Tested it, didn't like it. I feel my 50 F1.8 is way better.

85mm F1.8 if you intend to shoot more portraits, SP90 if you wanna do more to macros.

The old 1750 was not as good as the new one. Try it out and you will see the difference. Even the overall build quality feels better.

Good to know, I was looking at the 17-50 a while back too, but reading about the focusing issues put me off. Can't agree enough about the VC too. Having it on a f/2.8 allows you to handhold in even more crazy situations that you wouldn't even bother to try on a non-stabilised lens, and how can more options possibly be a bad thing?
Sticking this in here because I can!

could be due to lighting condition, you're using a smaller aperture compared to your friends(prove is due to the bokeh-ness of the photo that you showed compared to his), and his shots are saved in raw thus giving him more control over the settings.

in case any of u havent experience problems with purple..go try and u will get what i mean... then google about "Purple objects are turning out blue" or something along that line...
some even said "Purple hues are always a problem as purple is not a color of light but rather a color of pigment and the human mind"
google this: "Do You Belive in Purple?"
I always shoot products and have no problem with other colors except purple....what i have to do to get the right color is to adjust the hue...its pretty troublesome but it seems to be a known and frustrating fact.

no idea bout sb900 color temp over sb600 color temp. If im not mistaken....once u attached a flash....the flash unit is smart enuf to tell the flash temp to the camera body. not sure if this work under both Auto and Flash WB or not...flash temp changes at different power.... nope....im just giving u an example...lol

yeap , true true, your shutter count also increase very fast
shutter count means nothing provided what u learn from it. if all we care is shutter count, might as well keep it in the dry box right? we use our cam to capture the memories. it can be there for that moment and be gone forever. i myself wouldn't want to lose that moment.. ever

If i would like to take event photography, which speedlight is suitable? If given the hall is as tall & huge like convention centre, as i didn't use any external flash before, i heard that sb600 won't be powerful enough for big hall, so would like a recommendation, currently i only got my eye on sb600 & Nissin Di866, as i might not enough budget to get sb900

Any flash also wont have power to light up the whole hall but what u can do is to find the best diffuser , some pro photographers like to use direct flash and edit the picture later, but for us that are quite lazy to edit, its better to bounce the flash .
for me,sb-600 is better than nissin. I dont know why,i just like the quality of the flash.
may i know the current price of this D90...with the 16-105mm lens kit? can u all recommend the dealer who can offer me the best prices and good services? oh ya..im from penang...

my advise is to get nikon speedlight not because of the functions but more on the TTL.....i've used nissin di622 before and perhaps i am not good at it, the TTL isnt very accurate....nissin 866 is said to be super good but i still prefer to get a nikon one...
in regards of SB600...i am currently using it, why? coz its cheaper than sb900. its power its lower but its refresh rate is higher too. it is true that u cant possibly light up the whole hall and what u need is a good diffuser or a big bounce card to bounce the light lo....unless u wana fire ur flash XXX meters away....else, sb600 shud be sufficient...once u master it then maybe u wana upgrade it later? ive seen many who buy flash and store it in dry cabinet in the end...for me, i use my flash almost most of the time coz i like it

But if you can buy the sb900, u should also consider about it.. why?
Advantages of SB-900 vs SB-600
it has more power (GN 111.5 vs GN 98 @ ISO 100 m/feet)
sb900 can be used as commander why sb600 cant
more flash zoom head range (17 to 200mm vs 24 to 85mm)
flash head rotates 180 on both right and left (sb900)
1 to 1/128 power levels (sb900) vs 1 to 1/64.

Last time a shop owner told that me that if you want power, the Nissin Di866 should be just as bright or even brighter than the SB900. Not sure how far this is true though.

I am contemplating whether to get a 1.4 or not too. I am having a 1.8 now! Hardly shoot at 1.8 la...always at 2 or 2.5...the only thing i dont like about 1.8D and 1.4D is the rotating front element. If you want 1.4...consider the sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM!

Yeah there are a number of 2nd hand Nikon 70-200mm VR1 lenses about now available. Totally a class of lens of its own. Better than Tamron or Sigma's offering
Nikon D90. Hard to find a good price in Kuching. They offered 4500 for kit+lense, a bag, tripod, 4GB memory card. Darn expensive. Better ending up buying online.
best price i get 3.9 D90 + kit lens + bag + 4GB + screen protector

Have you ever melted your color gels on your speedlight? What do you do to clean it?
Do you prefer: 1. Manually adjusting the WB to get a natural colour in a place with tungsten or 2. Using color gel
must post here cause kena bomb by faiz92
I will always prefer a color gel....why? see below
Do you prefer: 1. Manually adjusting the WB to get a natural colour in a place with tungsten or - since u will be using flash, ur flash temp will nvr be the same as the tungsten temp. So what would you set? - most of the time, you will have the right WB for your subject (foreground) while your background which is not fired by your flash will have a diff WB..... 2. Using color gel - Using a flash gel, you can make your flash temp, and the tungsten temp to be the same. - setting WB to tungsten, your foreground and background will have the same WB

Hmm..i'm not really sure also becoz i have never own a dslr...but from what i understand it seems that the contact between the lens and the body is not too good..they have to dismount the lens and reattached it or just turn off the camera then the problem goes away..i will quote one of the posters on the dppreview forum if that's ok
"once in a while I get an error message in the box in the upper right where the f stop is F- -.The manual states the problem is no lens attached, non cpu lens attached. I am using the Nikon 18-105 lens that came with the camera. This has occured when I am in the auto mode and when the shutter is pressed it will not work. I have to turn the camera off and back on then every thing works well"
and there were quite a few replies to this post that expressed the same problems..so i was wondering if any users here faced this before..thanks again..

Alright, I got this problem before. It is due to bad contact between the lens and the body. 18-105 uses a plastic mount, so you really need to be careful. Worst thing is that, it happened about 2 months after I bought my D90 kit . Its the lens, not the body's fault. Body uses a metal mount, but the lens is a plastic mount :S.
Thank you very much celciuz..but if u don't mind me asking, how often does this problem happens? is it so very often that it becomes annoying? wat did u do to overcome it? did you sent the lens back for repair or get a replacement?
F-- error, usually need to release the lens and lock it back in place. How often ar, not exactly often... bought mine end of August, maybe got it about 2-3 times only. Just the first time getting it made me panic lol. Turn off and on back didn't work, remove batt didn't work. Only when remounting the lens it'll detect properly.
that doesnt happen to me...so far so good for me...erm...if u scare of this problem...u can just buy the body and buy another lens that is metal mount instead of the kit lens...=)
I like the VR2, this one shot in Orchard with really low light need to bump up my ISO to 1250 and shutter speed lowered to 1/13sec, but still can get sharp image not bad for the vibration reduction function

Btw guys, watch out when buying Lowepros nowadays, i heard there are Imitation ones out there selling for the same price as we got our genuine ones. I've seen a couple of em, from looks, you'd only be able to tell if you really know the bags inside out and compare almost every single detail. No issues lar bro, it's always good to share. Faster show pics, maybe it's a great deal and other forumers should go there for their purchase...
Like Sp00kY, I would say go for a flash and stick to the 18-55 VR. It is quite a good kit lens IMO.
agreed.. after getting a flash, u carik la a good tripod.. then baru u carik telephoto ie 55-200/70-300 after that, buy a nice drybox.. then a good lenspens + blower for cleaning purposes.. then bought battery grip.. then upgrade lense to f2.8.. then find faster tele.. like 70-200vr.. then, bought Ultra wide angle lense like 11-16 or 10-24.. then bought anything that u think worth it.. then belum sempat test semua equipment, u upgrade body to d300s or d3 ( like xandman).. heheh.. then sold everything, back to film.. hahah.. )
Water prove lowepro? The bag itself would have cost half a bomb... Btw guys, watch out when buying Lowepros nowadays, i heard there are Imitation ones out there selling for the same price as we got our genuine ones. I've seen a couple of em, from looks, you'd only be able to tell if you really know the bags inside out and compare almost every single detail. But in terms of material quality, it feels slightly different. I shoot using Adobe RGB, but when i work on them, i discard the profile and use my spyder color profile instead...
yeap, my friend bought lowepro from thailand, EXACTLY THE SAME. but the bag become lembik in one week time.

wah...if bcome lembik...i sure wil return it bck to the shop..lol.. but by touching and feel the quality of it...im pretty sure it wont bcme lembik...especially in 1 week time...hehe..
was thinking of getting a 70-300mm... and a nissin 622.. flash later on. tripod memang wont get wan. hahaha. cz i know i wont use.
i also got a d60. any other recommendation?
bought a tripod.. u can do much more with tripod.. ie .. capturing light play, captured fireworks... etc... get a cheapo one first also can.. mtmivec/other forumer here sold Digieye/benro tripod.. quite cheap..

hi guys! new guy here. Just go a D90 to photograph jewelry. So far i only know how to use the macro setting which most of the time is over exposed with the flash. Can the sifu here teach me the best setting with the original kit lens for shooting jewelry.
No i cant afford a macro lens or any other lens yet. hehe tanks

Hi Dezmo, i'm no expert either but just to share some stuff i know. For shooting products, it is always not recommended to use your pop up flash as it will tend to be a bit harsh and will cause a lot of shadowing. What i can suggest is for you to build something like this in this link: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-t...oto-studio.html But i'll assume you do not have an external flash, so instead of using an off camera flash, u can use some white lamps or bulbs instead. And remember to mount ur camera on a tripod.
Btw, try to shoot in aperture priority, and somewhere between F8-11. That will give u optimal sharpness for your Kit Lens.

speedlight or tripod or other lenses
speedlight for sure. 2nd decent tripod, then lens. tripod very useful when to take landscape or potrait. event reli need speedlight (i think every scence except landscape) lens is refer to what u need. tele lens, low F lens, UWA. but kit lens always the best lens for learning process (atleast for me la)

first, get ur pic in focused looking at your pic, you are shooting at 1/60 for both pics.... the first pic at 18mm should be sharp....but it doesnt really look like its sharp though.. 2nd pic at 105mm 1/60 should be sufficient with VR on...unless that lady is moving a lot.. try bursting your shots next time and then choose the sharpest one ....else, u might just miss a shot instead because of camera shake..

i'd say mostly target the eye since viewer's eyes will target it first, unless theres 'something' else..
hows the macro with the 70300? i bought a cheap2 70300G only..

I'm going to Harbin next week with mine... And i think the only thing to worry is condensation when bringing the camera from outdoor to a warmer indoor. And also battery life might suffer a little. I'll just bring some spare alkaline batts, kept inside my jacket and my battery magazine along... (Just in case if my Lithium Ion runs out of power)

Apart from the condensation which could be a bit worrisome, i think basically there's no other major concerns. I would rather worry if i can withstand those weathers... Expecting -30c at night, and wonder if i can handle the cam with the thick gloves. U know of anywhere to get some decently thin and warm gloves?

keep ur batt warm. when not using it keep it close to ur body. be careful when taking it out as the lens might fog up

It seems that you know the problem but it seems that you do not too. The problem is not sharp the DOF isnt a factor here for me, moreover it is at 18mm!. The pic is suffering from camera-shake from what i see.....
try to shoot more because a correct/steady body posture increases the chances for sharp images. waiting for ur sharper image next time ...

the gps records the location of the photo taken. thus u can refer and find out where is that place. there's always TT going on. but i see mostly canon kaki

hmm...try take off ur lens and put it back again...see if that solve...for me,this is most likely to be the problem of the lens contact there...

Bad contact point of the lens and body. That's the 18-105 correct? That lens using plastic mount, so be gentle on it .

No Probs bro. I'm still searching for my gloves, and also a smaller bag which i can dump into a big plastic bag when i go indoors to avoid condensation. My Flipside 400 will only fit into the black garbage bags, but those r so damn big and thin...

the seller can be right and wrong. it is possible to create bokeh in photoshop but it will not look as good as real and tell me, how are u gonna photoshop every single pic? that would take a lot of time rite? The f/1.8 u're getting would be good for low light and portrait. Good for low light coz or big aperture and good for portrait because of shallow depth-of-field. that's why they hav other primes like 85mm, etc. Stop it down a little maybe to f/2 or f/2.8, and it'll be super sharp.

i couldnt agree more with fisherman. the great dof and low light performance offered by fast lens are the main reasons why people sought after primes.

many questions here regarding the next gear to get after having only kit lense... from my 2 cents opinion, what should u do before upgrade is maximise ur lense.. use it at all aperture, att all shutterspeed.. mostkit lense also can do bokeh with correct aperture and shutterspeed.. dulu i pakai 18-135mm only to create such bokeh.. rather than spending on new lense, get urself a good flash.. ( SB600/800/900 or 3rd party like nissin di622/866).. then bought urself a nice cheapo but great nikkor 50mm f 1.8d ( RM 390) or 35mm f 1.8 ( rm780).. good lense for walkabout and potrait.. then, sudah jemu dengan kitlense baru carik tele or f2.8 lense..
Guys, do u notice that people that use flickr have more shaper and nicer picture than people who upload using image shack?
i do not think that the pic is getting sharper, but it's more like the sharpness and details of the original photo are retained. Neway, i noticed that the blue/purple/maroon will be slightly OFF when i host it on flickr.

1st, the seller is damn honest wei..
ok, when do i use my 50mm?
1) When I want more bokeh... 2) almost 0 distortion 3) when i have enough space to move around
did it help? when u say lo-light, how low? it depends....bigger aperture certainly helps but to what extend?hope u get it,.
last nite i was celebrating bday with my fren, then suddenly amber chia came join us take photo. being the only dslr there i panickly set my mode to P and start shooting both the birthday girls photo. It's in a bar and I couldn't take any risk using M(normally i take my own sweet time use M) so i use P hopefully the camera will save my ass. ISO i boost to 1600 too.
The outcome -> sucks. can tipu makan lah.. but then we photog sure know it's just average and ... aihhh..
Before this i never thought of buying flash wan.... coz i hardly take human/portrait photos. But after this incident, I think i might wanna get a SB-900 liao. Which i guess i will use once in a bluemoon......
lol. i was there too. i was in bar madrid. she just sit right infront of us (not next table la). i think i heard your friend sing birthday song for you.

use it more frequent for potrait
be brave big boy~! u r age come older now dare to fail and learn from the failure rather then just depending on assist. if i were u, i will use popup flash and lower down the power and set to rear sync to get enuff fill flash. it will be harsh and insufficient but it is emergency cases, so it can be considerable. lastly, edit la bagi cantik

P? i would use M though, cuz if in A @ P mode with low lights, the shutter speed might change in a blink of eye.. here might be 1/100 but there might be as low as 1/30 shutter speed..
of course i noe la. they put VR and VRII but its actually the same mah. The first gen wan the VR is in red but the 2nd gen, VRII is gold in colour. Although its the same, but market price different wor. U selling around how much?

But of course!!! One SB-900 fire from left, one SB-900 fire from right, one SB-800 snooted and fired between the butt cheeks of the conductor to get halo effect on his pants. Ha ha ha ... but seriously ... no flash lah. Just very slow shutter speed and pray lorr.

One of the things that i love the most about Nikon D90 (and above) is the auto-ISO. So for your case ie a posed shot, i would do an M-mode : ....set the aperture to the biggest, shutter to the lowest the situation (and you) can handle probably 1/20 (my personal limit of celebritystruck shake level) and let the ISO do the rest (i max my D90's autoISO to ISO6400 ... tadaaaa! I dont care bout the noise ). Im not sure if the autoISO kicks in natively in P-mode though. Its still manual i guess.
Anyway, you really should know what and how to prioritise. It will save your S alot Good luck.
Ok i really should go back to bed

most of ur post, u will say dat "ok i really should go back to bed" its like become ur favorite quote already
from my opinion, ISO 3200 is the highest i can accept. above that, the noise like arghhhhh macam kamera henfon especially on highest ISO.
p/s : i tried D3S + 400MM at new branch nikon. setup ISO12800. superb low noise wooo thnkng to sell my car and buy bicycle

Alahai mesti comel tersangat sangat baby girl tu kan. Bukannya tak boleh tidur. Ni tengah cuba nak telan makanan lunch ni tapi tak boleh sebab sejuk sangat sangat. Tapi lapar. Sini sekarang jam 1.25 pm New York. Tengah tunggu habis shooting. Rasa macam tahap beku dah ni. Sapa punye idea la shoot outdoor tetengah sejuk laknat ni.
Ok my friend here whose name is Donita but whose real name is Marc and who is right beside me now, says that he knows for a fact that the Tammy is better than the Siggy, which i tend to agree. The Siggy has that unsharpness at the edge and corners, which is alot more obvious than that of the Tammy's. But of course i dont have any photographic proof of that

hi everybody, just want to know is it worth the extra money for SB900 rather than the much cheaper SB600 ?
for me, it worth. more power, faster recharge, more heavier~! is heavier is advantage? wahhh dat one disadvantage~! super bulky size hahahah but yes it is worth to buy and carry around~!

All credit must go to graffiti artist. I only stand there less than one minit and snap-snap. With regard to model shoot, no money to hire model and flash pole machai. So shoot rocks and trees lorr.

when u click on img, the url they ask u to enter is the url u can copy from imageshack, photobucket, flickr or other free image hosting sites. u hav to upload to those sites first before u can copy the link over.
the other way is to upload to LYN server. there's a upload attachment button when u're adding a reply to a thread but for now, all uploading to LYN are disabled as u can see the error up there.

That was my first camera too. Your fathers camera looks like new. Very well kept. No fungus in the lens?
Olympus makes some very quirky camera. The OM-10 has a manual adaptor. A gadget with headphone jack that you stick on the camera. With this thing, you can control the shutter speed. The pro version (OM-2, OM-4) has the shutter speed adjustment at the lens mount. Very different from most other cameras which tend to have shutter speed dials. Actually the shutter speed on the lens mount is easier to adjust provided that aperture ring is at the front of the lens.
The mechanical feel of the Zuiko lens, wow! I don't think any of my Nikkors are even close. But my lens now is like fungus plantation. Dun know if worth it to send for cleaning.

Very well kept i must say, he keep it since 1980+ oh. Bought from London when he was still studying.
Its not zuiko , its vivitar, cheap lens i think you want to see the fungus? later i take picture of the fungus HAHA
I'm actually shooting with the OM-1 now! ahaha. but the thing is so old so I have to guesstimate the exposure because the built-in meter isn't working anymore.

WB , EV and focus seems good, but to take good children picture, your camera must be at the same level to the children face, then it will produce a better mood , my 2 cent
