Currently I'm using Tamron 17-50 VC so far no focusing problem even in low light compare to my old Tamron 18-270 VC. IQ wise very sharp except 50mm focal length obviously soft @ f/2.8 but no problem at f/3.5.

I can say Tamron 17-50mm VC is really worth the money. A lot of users saying that the VC is not necessary for 17-50mm focal length. My answer is NO, the VC is very useful even in wide focal length. I can shoot at 1 sec with handheld @ f/2.8. Can non-VC do that? I don't think so.. smile.gif

The VC activation is a bit slow compare to VR and OS. It takes about 0.3sec to activate the VC.

do u guys think it's advisable for me to get a D90 (w/o kit lens) and a 50mm f/1.8? cuz my gf already has a D60 with kit lens...and i dont zoom a lot
*
i would suggest you go for 35mm f/1.8 instead. For me actually 50mm is too tight.

A lot of people saying that 50mm is good lens, yes, but for me actually not that good for DX camera. hmm.gif

actually thinking of the 35mm as well. depends on budget haha. but is it a good idea to forgo the 18-105?
*
It's depending on what you like. Some people prefer zoom lens some prefer prime. For me I just love my Tamron 17-50 f/2.8. hehe..

If you're in tight budget 18-105 is a good choice..

Hey to you all D90 owners.
Just wanna let you know that my D90 survived an 8 hour outdoor practicality last night and earlier this morning... below zero degree celcius! And absolutely no battery casualty at all. Nice huh ? biggrin.gif
Didnt they say the thing couldnt handle cold temp ?? Hehehe. Dhuhhh.
*
For me i believe in cold weather the battery won't drain up as fast like what they said.. the just listen what other people said and then follow.. laugh.gif

hi guys

I'm getting my brother's D90 body from him
it's still under Nikon warranty till end of April 2010
sc is nearly 10500 (according to Opanda), no dents and never been drop before, but somehow looks a little bit dusty
he did tell me he don't mind selling it to me for few hundred bucks, but I plan to go for 2k
my offer price reasonable?
*
rm2k is very good price.. go ahead!!!

guys...i got rm 2000 budget to buy new lens..but i dont know which lens im suppose to buy..right now in my mind either tamron 17-50 2.8 vc or nikkor afs vr 70-300....btw im gonna use the new lens for my bro wedding..right now i got nikon d90 kit lens and 50mm 1.8 so what u guys opinion..do please recommend me..
*
you're like just wanna spend money without any reason..
laugh.gif
it's all depending on your needs.. which focal length you shoot more or prefer..

rm2k you can get many types of lens.. for wedding you should go for 17-50 f/2.8 instead of 70-300 unless you have additional camera body for telephoto lens..

what he mean is wide angle lens usually have large Depth-of-Field and focusing doesn't really important. You can do manually or whatever.

QUOTE(yuenzhi @ Jan 7 2010, 04:02 PM)
hi guys im having trouble deciding on what body to buy
my option

1.d90 new RM3000

on the other hand

2.used d300 condition 9.9/10 RM3600

may i know if there's a big difference between these 2 models ?
*
Basically the differences are

D90
- SDHC Memory Card
- 11 Focus Points
- Shutter Speed Max 1/4000
- Active D-Lighting (Off, Auto, Low, Normal, High & Very High)
- 4.5fps
- Fastest Shutter Speed with Flash: 1/200
- Shutter Death: 100,000 cycles
- 12bit RAW format

D300
- Compact Flash Memory Card (I prefer CF Memory coz I can transfer to PC faster.. hehe)
- 51 Focus Points (which I don't find any useful for this)
- Shutter Speed Max 1/8000 (I don't use that high speed)
- Active D-Lighting (Off, Low, Normal & High)
- 8fps (I don't shoot in burst mode)
- Fastest Shutter Speed with Flash : 1/250 (D90 also got FP ma..)
- Shutter Death: 150,000 cycles
- 14bit RAW format (Can select 12bit too)
- Additional AF button
- Can support AI-s Lenses
- Heavy but easier to hold (I agree on this)

I've personally compare D90 and D300 ISO noise control. D90 is obviously better than D300. wink.gif

wow thanks for the detailed explanation. from what u stated, obviously the specs of d300 is superior to d90. is the picture quality very difference big ?
*
Both are using same size CMOS sensor. I believe D90 Chromatic Aberration control is better than D300 (Not proven don't shoot me sweat.gif .)

I never stop friends buying D300. But I will definately will stop them upgrade from D90 to D300. tongue.gif

Check this ISO noise control.. see which one you prefer.. hehe

Nowadays I always buy my camera stuffs like stuff in KeyColor @ Midvalley, DigitalMania @ Pudu Plza, Yamiya, Lowyat Forum & Lelong (mostly buy from jimmychoo).

Those stuffs I bought maybe not the cheapest one but atleast i enjoy their service. YL highly NOT recommended! Unless you wanna buy 2nd hand leneses from them, heard their price not bad for 2nd hand stuffs.
