Common Kelvin White Balance Settings : 2500K - very strong orange tungsten light 2800K - strong orange tungsten light 3200K - yellowish tungsten light 4500K M6 - flourescent light (most flourescent tubes are green even though our eyes don't see it) 5500K - flash 6500K - daylight (or daylight-balanced flourescent light) 9900K - strong blue stage lighting or evening light
Xenon lighting is rare but that should be between 7000-9000K.
Whenever you enter a new situation that has different WB, just set your Kelvin WB again and test with one shot. You
should be able to do this with practice.
With the Sony A300 and A350, you can use Live View and see the effect of changing Kelvin WB... live!
M = Magenta G = Green 2500K = Blue 9900K = Amber
Take a picture. Supposing the picture is very Green, you need to add the opposite which is Magenta. If the picture is
too Blue you need to go closer to Amber. So if the picture is very blue-green-ish, you will need to go closer to 9900K
M9.
To prevent the built-in flash from appearing in pictures when in wireless flash mode, you can use any of these
methods, or a combination of them:
- use a darker aperture (e.g. F11) - use a lower ISO (e.g. ISO100) - use a shutter speed faster than your flash sync speed so that High Speed Sync is activated (e.g. 1/320th of a
second) - use a piece of exposed, developed negative film in front of your pop-up flash

wow... so fast... jz bring my Q to here... wana ask dat how gd is A700...? coz might plan to upgrade from A300... is dis camera able to take gd pics @ low like condition...? since i saw go comment on Nikon D90 for photo quality in all light condition... can a700 on par wif dis camera...?
i think its time for me to get larger storage as my 4Gb MSPD only alow sub 200 pics if i shot RAW+JPG. Im using A300. Between CFIII and MSPD HiSpeed/HD, which has the faster/better write speed? *im leaning to MSPD as my lappy do not have CF reader and i may need to use the usb cable =__= Or any other suggestion that good enough for me to get that my Alpha can fully utilize, and not bottlenecking it. I'll look into something a stepdown if CFIII and MSPD HiSpeed/HG it too much for a300. I'm looking for 8/16Gb as I do cosplay random stalking shoots Budget would be rm500+ and i believe this will be a 1 time buy that will last 2yrs -------

A700 have better ISO control than A300, that's for sure.. but compared to D90, i'm not pretty sure.. maye not kot
Str33tBoY: hahahhhaa i've seen u post that question 3 times now
A700 is definitely better than A300 in terms of low light.. im not sure if compared to D90, but its of same par as the D300, which in a way is a better body compared to D90, although being much older.
nikons are known for their low light performance, period.
until the new A5xxs are out, the A700's the best aps-c u can get at the moment from Sony

A700 compare to D90, i like A700 DRO more then D90 D-lightning. the A700 photo usually gives a light HDR feel to it. and remember, A700 has build in SSS which mean, all lenses has steady shot, so night shot usually is far better then D90's lenses IS choice.
ooic... not to bash lar... coz many review saying dis... maybe i'm upgrade to a700 instead of d90... coz now surveying... as d90 hav many gd reviews wat...

D90 have lotsss of good review, during A700 release, Alpha wasnt that popular yet, so review might be limited. and D90 is release about a year after A700, so the tech inside D90 should be superior. but i think D90 still cant come close to A700 in terms of overall.
instead of reading 100 pages of review to get to know what u wan, why not flickR it? u get to see more result out of A700 and D90. that way, u will also learn the skill that can bring the power of the machine out, instead reading all the spec, but still unable to shoot like pro

D-lighting will usually hogs up your camera's processing speed when its turned on... DRO will do it on the fly, so you don't have to wait for the camera to process the image and lose precious time

spec is one thing, it's good to know what you have and what you don't.
i'd rather advice that the buyer test the machines out for himself 1st than to look at other ppl's images.. that way it'll do the camera more justice as over in flickR, you're looking at pros/near-pros/pro-amateurs around the world at work..
at the end of the day, its all about the one behind the viewfinder that makes the most out of the camera.

actually, why not wait for A550? 14mp, 7fps, LiveView(the one missing in A700), Better ISO and DRO (compare to A700)... price? cheaper then A700

well, yes, that why i said check out flickr, see how people reach the limit of the machine, said-so, is like having a good D3x but not able to push it, but shoot like D60... flickr helps u to learn composition, as human are like monkey, monkey see, monkey do. hehe also, end of day, u are improving toward to pro skill, so as people always say, best way to learn is to learn from pro
testing the machine even with first 1000 shot wont justify you'll really like it or not in the end of the day, because people only realise how good it is when they jump like how most A300 user misses the LiveView after the A700 jump
some may say how good is D90 how good this that, by looking at how pro pushes the camera limit, u would know which camera justify a limit of your choice. and the common problem with all buyer, the regret factor is reduce.

very true.. i must admit, i've learnt a lot from looking at photos from good photogs (consciously and subconsciously). i believe so that the LV will surely be missed, even I've not used a LV cam before feels that i'm missing out a lot not having LV. makes life so much easier at times..

agreed, but then, they will give excuse like, "noone use liveview one laaaa" or "liveview for noobs" hahaha, they really dont know what they missing. but they will shot back at use, why sony dont have video? hahahaha, i say, sony have leading HDvidcam, they dun wan spoil thier own market, and they are pretty cheap too..
and yup LiveView is a major improvement, i primary use it during tripod shot, because i need to cover the OVF eyepiece, else unwanted light may get it from the OVF. landscape, long exposure, staged shot, live view help a lot, and it gives real emulation of the shutterspeed and apperture effect...

yeap...i bought my a700 along with a VG without any hesitation.... coz when u use f58am the grip will work as a tool to balance and allow us to shoot more comfortably....
A550 is bout the size of A350, which makes it smaller than A700 A700 is a rare gem, i doubt u could find any next year or rather from now onwards but possibly A7x0 any series above A2x0 is better in someway imo...
Hi all... im a newbie... just have a minat to buy a DSLR... my budget is very² low... decision is made for A200 seem a reasonable price for me (low budget)
hope can join this group once buy it... btw any shop can be recomend (im from Klang)....

wait for da A500 series to hit da street n test for urself. maybe u will like it
Sony's QLV for me is an excellent additional tool alpha camera. Overhead shots like the ones below pose problematic (although not impossible) without the LV as a viewing tool.

Gears is not the most important thing... skills matter. If you give me a 1D MkIII, I can still shoot like crap....
clivengu: Provided you do it properly it will give accurate results. However from reading countless threads over forums with people showing their results... I can see that a lot of people are doing the test wrongly.
Also, Google LensAlign...
I could afford the vertical grip but I don't have space in my bag, and it is not going to help if I go street-shooting (which is what I do a lot...)
neo_lam: Cropping #5 would look nice.
nickilala: Interesting moody shot!
Str33tBoY: Yes, the A500/A550/A700/A850/A900 all have much better low-light performance than the A300. You can shoot at ISO1600 comfortably with all these bodies.
Seng_Kiat: Love the first shot, the uncle looks very silver-ish!
hkhk: Film SLRs are not expensive now - RM300 for a auto-focus electronic-shutter one and RM600 for a manual-focus mechanical-shutter one. 50mm lenses were and are the cheaper lenses, as well as the 28mm F2.8 lenses.
Banzai_san: The A500/A550 has a similiar grip to the A100/A200/A300/A350, not the A330/A380.

For you guys who are looking for a A300 and don't mind paying a bit more, Sony Style KLCC still has stock. I don't know how many units but the sales person says they have stock.
I was there Friday evening showing a friend of mine the A330 and then I took him to see a Canon 1000D and then to see a Nikon D5000. So don't blame me for being a fan boy ok?
While he was fiddling with the A330 and the 50mm F1.8, he asked to have a look at the A900 with a 85m CZ lens attached. He said the lens is sharp and then he looked at the price tag - RM9999 (Sony Style mah) and said, "Wah! Expensive!" When I told him that price did not include the lens, his jaws dropped. He's a total noob to DSLR... LOL!

i think is because of the DOF, u are not really taking candid potraiture, and the bokeh is over too much, or the sharpening cause the bokeh to look wierd... it looked like plasterised.

normally CF card would be faster than Memory stick. Sandisk CF Ultra 3= 200x ~ 20MBps, much faster than MSPD 2 (15Mbps) note the MBps n Mbps . Unless u got the HG version ~ 15MBps.

Sorry for the noob question.
What program do it need to open and edit sony raw file?
Is it free?
can use the SONY Image Data Converter bundled in your CD. U can download the latest online. Or u can use Rawtherapee or Google Picasa. All I mention here is free.

achew: For the A850, you could work in Wide Area AF as it uses the extra hidden AF Assist sensors. If you find that it still cannot lock, point at the center and press down on the middle of the joystick to use the center AF point - this will definitely focus.
That said kids are hard to shoot, so don't worry. I would have gone wider on the shots with the kids and cake (and take from above, to get both the kids and cake in almost the same plane of focus.)
Good shot of #1 though, it's often hard to get kids to look at the camera!
I use 90% 0.3 pixels for sharpening fine detail, and 22% 33 pixels for increasing general contrast and pop.

if i use "wide"..the camera would try to catch the focus point on the | | at the sides right? im kinda used to the center point as i could exactly tell the camera what i wanna focus..instead of letting it to guess >.< ...so not very sure how does "wide" works..lol
last night it really frustrate me a lil bit...coz the kid just cant stop moving..and i have thousands of hands holding digital camera around me..sometimes when i press the shutter..den i realized..suddently got 1 hand come into the frame..zzz

isnt that technique style about 80% of what i just did on the above photo? having the light-source from above. u can do it with wireless flash setup, or studio light, or DIY lightning.

low key???
go darker place..flash on the face..or use a lamp to light up the face..AEL there n shoot?
AElock dont really do much. if u using flash, the TTL will auto detect. if u use lamp, use liveview to check the amount of light, use spot metering (on the face, local metering will to too), use the EV to adjust the tone u wanted, then the rest is up to photoshop.

usually when i wanna shoot something like that..i would shoot in full manual(exposure n flash)...trail n error 2-3 shots..would get the correct setting eventually..
if we use spot metering..what if the object is not at the center?
photoshop..i normally use to increase the contrast..unless the light source is really bright..else background usually would be quite dark already

spot metering will follow ur focus point, unless ur focusing not on ur subject, then u still have live view to figure the exposure out (u cant rely on the metering-bar anymore)
hkhk: photoshop is optional, but the photo lovexoxohug showed the color is edited. u cant shoot that color directly from the camera. instead of trial and error (indirectly, wasting shutter) shot one raw, edit ur heart content out
shooting trial and error is for learning the setup method. but once u get the rough figure, or if u know what to do to shoot, u wont go and shoot 10 picture just to find the right one, post processing is the key
*edit: also, my picture above, shot at iso100, with F5.6, environment is like a bar/pud/cafe... with no post processing, just the framing.
so, let ur imagination run wild, iso100, F5.6 in a pub lightning environment.

Added on October 5, 2009, 2:14 amopps, wtf am i talking about >.< okay, just let me assume, most new users, are using A2xx,3xx inculding Ax30 series, those who have liveview, and are starters, so LV would be a good option to learn.

dont worry, try to use ur instinct, and train it. here is an instinct shot i hav (wedding job i had yesterday), which LV is erm, unable to use/see.
LV for me, i use it for the mirrorflip to close the OVF when i shot long exposure, i cant stand near it to cover the OVF(may shake it), so if the miror did not close it, unwanted light will go in from OVF.

i think the dof is not enough, too shallow, if only u can have new more batang of matches to be clear, except the burned one (let it be bokeh). it brings better msg.
btw... most of d time u all take pics wif auto / preset setting @ d camera...? or fulli manual...?
for me.."usual" shots for portrait / landscape would b on aperture priority(most of the time) / shutter priority..depend on the need...
for macro..or anything else that need me to setup on lighting..i'd use full manual on both my exposure and flash power due to limited equipments/space..lol
achew: In Wide Area AF it will just pick any combination of AF points that work. Try it!
does that mean i should just compose my shot n focus it(wide AF)?(assuming my subject isnt placed at the extreme sides)..coz i usually focus with the center point n recompose..
I find Wide Area AF usually kinda knows what I'd want to focus on. The point of Wide Area AF is that you don't recompose and cause user-induced focusing shift error.

i nvr really use wide area AF unless im shooting landscape or group photo with higher F numb. Just now i give it a try on how this Wide Area AF can tell apart wat i may want to focus.. but seems like doesnt really work for me.. usually it just focus ... in between objects... alang alang... could be different style of shooting. or does this has to do with AF between A900 n A700? mayb could be im not using a telelens.. ? till now seem the local AF still works best for me

Do you have the lens with you now ? Can i test and if no problem . i want to get 1 from you .... Do you have MSCRO lens ? My budget is low ...
clivengu: Wide Area AF works better on the A850/A900 because it has extra AF Assist sensors which the A700 does not have. In good light though, Wide Area AF is very usable on every other Alpha.

a200 & a300 dah habis stock... opt for the 3x0 or 2x0
its a discontinued stock.. new stock are hard to come by unless u go to hunt for it.. just like the a700.. so rare.. these kinds of cam normally u can get 2nd hand.. start hunting.. hehehe
well the a200 or a300 feels more like a cam.. a230 or a330 grip is so small.. i tried playing with the a330 and it feels like toy.. compared with my a300.. very light... if u got small hands you should be fine with it.. depending what u like actually.. go to the sony centers and try out the entry level cams =)

seriously? i raed some review here that a200 n a300 is highly rated more than 2x0 n 3x0...that's why im lookong for it...
all shops are out of stock??
best advice I can give you is to go to camera shops and test out the cameras for yourself. don't just try out Sony Alphas, try other brands as well, you can try the Canon 1000D, Nikon D3000, Olympus E420/E450 (if out already lah...) etc.. etc... test which one feels good in your hands... don't decide based on what other people say... coz they're not the one using YOUR camera... remember, your camera is just your tool... YOU are the artist... so, choose wisely...
Zen-X : Last Friday, Sony Style KLCC sales person says that they still have stock for the A300. The price will be higher is you buy from Sony Style because they only sell at retail price.
You can try your luck there.. who knows.. this is discontinued model and maybe they can offer you some freebies...
Also the A230 and the A330 promotion family package is damn nice! They give you one 50mm f/1.8 plus F20 flash plus one bag for RM699 more only!
This both are the twin lens set.. But people sell at different prices, depending on ur barganing power. you can use this as your rough guide to purchase ur cam.
but like what Braynumb said, dont just listen to me or people in this thread. You can try Canon or Nikon but of course u come to sony thread we say sony is best! =P..
It all really depends on you in the end.. Again quoting Braynumb, you are the one using the cam, not others.

Hehe good luck finding one mate. Its like hunting a very elusive and rare animal. Can start at sony centers that people rarely goes like Subang Parade. That's where i found mine . Forget calling SC lines, They have been trained to say it doesnt exists. Same thing going to other camera shops. I remembered there 's one a350 display unit for sale at JJ OU but other forumers says its better not to get it. Can try your luck at Subang Parade SC as theres two a300 there one is the twin lens kit (which i already grab XD ) and the other one is a single lens kit. Test kaw2 first.

depends on what type of macro you're taking... for insects/moving objects, I prefer Auto... but for flowers, I prefer manual... coz then you can choose which details you want to keep in focus...

One question about warranty.

Sony CIC based the warranty date on which criteria ? - invoice/receipt date - warranty card date - MySony Registration date
hmmm since noone answer this, i will.
if the warranty card is unfilled. here is the tips to workaround to get the warranty working properly.
first of all, sony service centre (SSC) requires u to have an official reciept of the AUTHORISED shop u brought from to be able to send in for warranty service. unauthorised shop usually, u send it back to the shop, the shop to the supplier, and supplier to the backdoor SSC. but if u already register it in sonystyle, ur unit able to go in front door
the date will be refer to your official reciept+filled warranty card and sonystyle registration (make sure it match).
what u need to do to work around it is, (for unfilled and unregister unit, with or without reciept,...) 1. if u dont have the reciept 2. unfilled warranty card. 3. not registered online with sonysytle/mysony. (with all this, u can basically throw away the reciept)
let say ur camera was damange today. 1. go register ur gear in mysony/style. 2. during registration, when there is a column where it ask, where u get ur item from, pick, "GIFT" (so u wont have receipt! yay) 3. pick a buy date, maybe a week before (so u still eligible for the additional +3 month warranty) 4. then wait for a month, (dont send ur camera instantly, they will smell something fishy... wait for a few month) 5. email to sonystyle, they mostly will pass ur mail to ms. ann (sony alpha customer service ) 6. write some bullsh*t how ur camera failed you. and ask how can u do ur warranty without a reciept because u got it as gift 7. they will give u instruction how to send it in for warranty
* i went to SSC in midvalley without any documentation, just the camera, and they still accept in for me

a lot ppl still misslead with the Ax00 and Ax30 camera. for new users or going to be Alpha owner. let me enlighten you.
A330 is not any 'worst' then A300, infact, the result/output of A330 is Better then A300! (pls dont compare it with A700 and A900)
the diff is just, the practical-ness of A300 has be alter in A330 that it is not that practical anymore BUT, more then 50% of the A300 user dont use it's MWB, or the quick local AF. so it doesnt really matter to Alpha developer.) but they do give u a better interface~ for easy learning.
BUT, A330, better shutter, better SSS, better DRO, better ISO will give u a upper hand in picture quality. e'nuf said.
thus the conclusion is, A330 is a good camera for a new owner. but it is not an upgrade for existing A300 user.
Can't argue with that tho... Mo0! organize a TT when I go to KL next year! should be in KL on the 13-14(15-16: Cameron, 16-17: Melaka)18-19: KL... hehehe... which date better?? Friday 19th going back to Kuching already ler...

IMHO its a different segment of market. Whilst A300 are marketed to a noob who wants to learn dslr, A330 are more or less Sony's Prosumer camera. I've owned Lumix LX3 and MWB is a feature that is already built in it. They strip it as soccer moms don't have to go the hassle of setting it up.
Handling wise a300 is far superior than a330. I've contemplated to get a330 due to the rarity of a300 but the grip / the built really screams cost reduction.

Anyway, I try out the Sony image converter for raw processing and find it very unfriendly and slow. I prefer Photoshop but not sure if there is any plug in for CS2. Anyone can help?

No plugin for CS2 to edit Sony RAW... only in CS3... you can try Gimp 2.26 with UFRaw Plugin...

Plug in for PP Cs2 tats gonna be Adobe Raw.. (version 3.5 i think)... im using that .. very effective.. n fast.. Im using it together with Adobe Bridge.. very good in managing the photos n compare photos in 100%...the only bad thing is u cant keep those setting in the camera like Vivid, sharpnest + DR ++ etc etc... I believe the Sony image converter does imbedded these info into the raw file.
but The Sony Image Converter r SLOOWWWWWW... hate it.

dunno, you can try look at Stygix (Navotech.com.my) or any other pc shops.. 16GB SDHC for Sony a230/a330 is around 120 (Kingston) (at other shop) compare to RM399 at Photography Shop

i also feel the dof is too shallow, i tried to use f32 when 1 first get my raynox and its still very shallow, so now i just use f13, so if wan to get more dof i'll have to use shorter focal length(mostly i use 200mm )..
here's some shot with different focal length on same subject, same angle..

w00t, regarding the A330 grip, i know a lot people (actually, just the alpha's owner) hate it. let face it, it is bad because u compare it to A300. if A300 were never around, and pop out A330, i best everyone will still be screaming how good the camera is.
Uzumaki NaruTo: i do agree, except, lx3 is not for everyone too. again, that is ur humble opinion, my opinion may diff, so is other people. if A330 is not a learner camera? which is? A550? tit for tac, look at the price tag first. A300 is obselete, face it, A330 is the new, better A300. lol... *edit: opps why i sound like some advertisement? hahaha
i still think A330 is still a good camera with the price tag at hand, compare to the "WHOLE DSLR Market". but still, A330 is still NOT AN UPGRADE for user of A100, A200, A300... it's like owning a proton2008, then u wanna upgrade to proton2009... ex1pect it to have new ICU and new fuel injection, answer is NO, u dont. people with A300, should just look at the upcoming A550 or A700. and sell ur A300 to the new comers... hehehehe

w00t, regarding the A330 grip, i know a lot people (actually, just the alpha's owner) hate it. let face it, it is bad because u compare it to A300. if A300 were never around, and pop out A330, i best everyone will still be screaming how good the camera is.
Uzumaki NaruTo: i do agree, except, lx3 is not for everyone too. again, that is ur humble opinion, my opinion may diff, so is other people. if A330 is not a learner camera? which is? A550? tit for tac, look at the price tag first. A300 is obselete, face it, A330 is the new, better A300. lol...

That is why you have to try and handle it before. If its uncomfortable better switch to something more comfortable to hold. I was seriously contemplate for a display a350 or a a550 due to the redesigned grip. Yes it should not be considered as an Upgrade but more to segmented market.
Lehtung: I actually like the dof in the 55mm shot.. lol.. the 100mm still not too bad, but the front legs there kinda itches the eye but still not too bad.. the 200mm the bokeh runs all over.. but the details are superb.. I couldnt even get that close with my 300mm lol.. the magnification for the raynox is by how much ah? without the raynox how is the shot?
i also feel the dof is too shallow, i tried to use f32 when 1 first get my raynox and its still very shallow, so now i just use f13, so if wan to get more dof i'll have to use shorter focal length(mostly i use 200mm )..
here's some shot with different focal length on same subject, same angle..

talking about focusing.. one dumb noob question.. I have a problem in catching night shots correctly.. Looking through the OVF, cannot see clearly.. I have this problem of say, im catching a night view of the kl city from genting, the lights and dots are soo small, cannot see if its clear or not. When viewed in the cam, it looks clear, viewed in the pc it tends to look blur.. I read somewhere that the lens can manual focus to infinity.. Where is that on a kittie lens? turn it left or right all the way?

magnification of raynox dcr-250 is 2.5x if i remember correctly, i tried for about 20 shot to get tat single shot at 200mm, dof damn shallow and very hard to focus at the correct point.. tat bug is big tat's why can use 55mm, but many bugs around my house are just around 5-15mm..

hi, the price for sd>cf adapter cost u a new decent 8gb cf. go figure
really, how much is one converter anyway???
i learn that the Kingston Elite Pro 8GB, despite being cheap, have problems with my A300, slow reading/writing speed.... and a Sony branded 4GB is RM299 here, which are the same price range for the Sandisks Ultra 8GB or Extreme 3 4GB....
So wonders if the SDHC (which i oredi have) works well with the CF converter, any comments??

btw..i went to orchid there to calibrate my 50mm
I mean if u register your product online. The Sales assistant at SONY STYLE, with the serial number of your product, they can retrieve the "data" u have put into MYSONY. I remember that last year I send my camera to service the lens without any receipt. Orchard got service center meh? Wisma Atria is only a collection center wo. They calibrate on the spot?

Stealth mode not becoz it's SONY. If that is CANON / NIKON or whatever.. I would stealth it as well.. just for security reason. I still not used to carry a big camera walking alone in street... besides, I don carry a laptop bag look like a laptop bag, and I don carry a camera bag that looks like camera bag.

50mmf1.4 ? => joking U might like Tamron SP90 f2.8. It's a macro lens, kind of slow, but the range is very nice.. (35mm equivalent = 135mm) and the pic also very sharp. It win me some small prizes for me.. if u want faster lens.. get the CZ 85mm or 135mm.. sure chun..

nope, flare is original... no PP.. the 28mm prime is quite notorious for its flaring, which sometimes is a good thing
Which brand of filter so stubborn ? didn't try using Lenspen to clean it ?
Tokina UV. Cheapest in their range.. The marking is actually those oil stain / maybe impurity from the solution i use. and maybe come from the wipes. I have lens pens, but seem like my lens pen is contaminated. And there is some tiny dots which cannot be cleaned.. i think it's the defect on the filter itselfs.. cheap filter.. wat to do?

It's better to turn off before changing lens. There is incident that a camera user (dono which brand) didn't turn off the body before changing lens. when he put a 3rd party lens, it short the whole system.. and the body is death..
Not cover under warranty if this happen with 3rd party lens..
spot metering will follow ur focus point, unless ur focusing not on ur subject, then u still have live view to figure the exposure out (u cant rely on the metering-bar anymore)
Spot metering is fixed at the center spot. It won't move / follow the focus point at least for A200 and A700. not sure for other cam. Maybe it's different for those with live view??
I would like to have that spot metering following focus point also.. lot's of my photo will have proper exposure without the need to set the EV compensation..

wa scary... if our sony lens short the whole body, covered by warranty meh? by right the user killed the body ma.. not the body died by itself..
U always can say a different story when u want to claim warranty right? If it involve 3rd party lens, sure they don want to fix for free la..
This post has been edited by hkhk: Oct 6 2009, 12:44 AM
ya la.. but does our warranty include the shorting of the body? thats the question =P.. because normally by right, as most warranty goes, whatever that is self inflicted is not covered..
i mean one look they might know that its self inflicted or they might not, thats another story hehe =)

I guess photowalking does not confine to Street Photography... but outdoors, jungletracking, zoos or even indoors as in visiting any offices, shops etc... as long as its done during the walking session with a group of people

did she hit u hard enuff? should be hard enuff tho if ur flashing in the face of sum1 as old as her..
Using my 16105, get as close to my grandma as the minimum focusing distance can go, flash bounce upwards+bounce carn 1/4 way up, focus on her eyes and then, re-compose my shot so that I'd use the rules of third and take the picture. and then get smacked by grandma coz firing the flash too close to her eyes.... hehehe... good thing the picture was just as I imagined it... only difference was I imagined taking that kind of picture at her house at Kampung. where the surroundings would be more comfortable for her. but, that's what I can get so far. so, ok lo... hehehe

In fact I heard the D3000 is even worse than the D60 le. But never liked Nokin and Nonac's entry levels le. (:
Nokin's entry levels to me lack of buttons. Setting wise.. it all seems so kayu..

i love prime =D
unless u r doing some event where space is very limited.....if space is not a prob..i'd change all my lens to prime..lol...
if u need the know the price..can use their e-quote...but anyway...if u getting camera/lens..its very likely the price here is 10~20% more exp than msia
even so. the warranty doubts me... I guess u fell into same dilemma before right? xD

Rushing back to KL for warranty is quite a pain.
90% of the time i'd be in singapore....unless JB have the maybank promo which i got my 2470...normally i'd get it in singapore..i mean..if its less than 100+sgd diff....it'd b really trouble for me to go down KL..
warranty wise..if u don mind the additional months(from the online registration)..u can actually convert to limited tourist warranty which last 1year..but that also mean u forfeit the warranty from msia..

thanks a lot.. its really helpful for me. i think i have to reconsider it again. Reply appreciated.
Hope i got the chance to learn from you in the future. Be in singapore feel isolate from lowyat guys when come to outing><
so i take it as u going to buy in 2months time... =p
must resist racun!! This year for christmas im going to SG for holiday.. I wanna walk down Orchard road snapping decor pics. im bringing my whole set of gears there.. including tripod.. I wonder if they allow me to carry the tripod or not inflight lol.. most likely ill get 2nd hand cause at end of 2010, friends already planned a trip to Taiwan. How to save?.. I know m0os secret lens will racun me kau kau.. die lor hahaha
My friends are telling me to sell my gears to fund for trips.. I tell them that no cam = no memories.. Guess what they say.. they will sponsor me a PnS...
LOL.. another reason why i wanna stealth my gear, prevent stuff like these.. I have my manager who just bought a nikon d3000 just for the sake that she thinks nikon are great, i think the pics turn out like sh!t.. ok la.. give credit.. some pics nice.. but the attitude towards sony.. wa.. xboleh tahan..
Again, people say, its the brain behind the viewfinder that creates the pics.. so.. mix with sony thread more, youll learn alot more..
side note, whats d3000 equivalent to? a700?
why do you bother so much on how ppl look at the gears? i understand if ya wana be humble with the gears but i dont see why u cant be proud of having a sony? what's wrong? :s......
d3000 is the lowest in the line up..no where near a700 ....

haha.. you must choose the day before or 2 days before if you going for night shots.. If not, its impossible for you to take your camera up and take a steady shot. It is soooooooooooooooooooooo damn crowed.
Wow... had not beein in the lowyat orange thread since.... v27? How is everything progressing?
Anyway, share 1 photo taken at KLCC. Yes, the one place in KL where everyone had taken a photo of it before. Hahaha.... But just to share, cause this is one of the last photo set from my A700 & SAL1118. No more A700 & SAL1118 after that....
18-250mm lens will be the best to carry around right?
its one of those "all-in-one"...u probably only need to bring 1 when u go on travel...but in exchange..u sacrifice ur IQ and aperture a lil for the range..for me..i stil prefer those dedicated lenses.. =p

As I know... SONY SLR camera come with Image Stabiliser ... so you can use any lens ... correct me if i am wrong ...
theoretically yes... any A mount lens will have the SSS (SuperSteadyShot) available also Sony Alpha all have the in-body motor... so whether the lens has inbuild motor or not, AF should work
