I find Wide Area AF usually kinda knows what I'd want to focus on. The point of Wide Area AF is that you don't recompose and cause user-induced focusing shift error.

http://www.mhohner.de/recompose.php
*
i nvr really use wide area AF unless im shooting landscape or group photo with higher F numb. Just now i give it a try on how this Wide Area AF can tell apart wat i may want to focus.. but seems like doesnt really work for me.. usually it just focus ... in between objects... alang alang... sweat.gif could be different style of shooting. or does this has to do with AF between A900 n A700? mayb could be im not using a telelens.. ? till now seem the local AF still works best for me

That is nice but I too think that the dof is too shallow.  That is the classic error most people make when trying to get bokeh....too much of it.  Just my opinion.

Anyway, I try out the Sony image converter for raw processing and find it very unfriendly and slow.  I prefer Photoshop but not sure if there is any plug in for CS2.  Anyone can help?
*
Plug in for PP Cs2 tats gonna be Adobe Raw.. (version 3.5 i think)... im using that .. very effective.. n fast.. Im using it together with Adobe Bridge.. very good in managing the photos n compare photos in 100%...the only bad thing is u cant keep those setting in the camera like Vivid, sharpnest + DR ++ etc etc... I believe the Sony image converter does imbedded these info into the raw file.

but The Sony Image Converter r SLOOWWWWWW... hate it. sad.gif

Er... im using Adobe CS3 actually... but i think if u manage to find the older version of Adobe Raw .. it should able to run on CS2 too. not too sure

Braynumb: I checked my Adobe Raw is version 4.6.. but the only installer file i hv kept is 4.5... Im running photoshop CS3.. but i have Adobe Bridge as well..Usually I run adobe Raw through Adobe Bridge instead of Photoshop..

I go into my Adobe Bridge. Select all the photos i wanna edit.. Press Ctrl R... it bring me to another windows Adobe Raw where i can edit / batch edit everything without the need to go through Photoshop...

50mmf1.4 ? => joking  tongue.gif
U might like Tamron SP90 f2.8. It's a macro lens, kind of slow, but the range is very nice.. (35mm equivalent = 135mm) and the pic also very sharp. It win me some small prizes for me..  rclxm9.gif
if u want faster lens.. get the CZ 85mm or 135mm.. sure chun.. icon_rolleyes.gif
*
50 F1.4 of course is considering upgrade too (small step).. can fit for fullframe, F1.4, n i heard they say sharper n better image quality oh... nvr really compare side by side with F1.8 so i cant tell. or u can skip all these mini lenses.. n go directly for the 135 F1.8!... AHMIKE!! TIME TO RELEASE POISON!

I go out jalan jalan this afternoon to test some shot.. I find these 2 "contrasting" signages.. n decided try to Focus on the signage to see if it works.... Turns out i think both of the r OOF...Shooting at higher F of course no problem since everything is sharp..

Photos below:

The photos r without crop.. shooting using Spot focusing Iso 100, F 2.8 -3.5, Shutter speed 1/100 n above.
I wish to get all experience sifus .. under this kind of condition.. is focusing on the signage (of that size) difficult for the camera? is it my problem i shouldnt even thinking of shooting using F2.8 since it will not work like tat anyway...Im trying to prove is it my shooting problem or d lens problem.. i hvnt got an answer yet sad.gif

Yeah... by right at tat distance.. the signage should be in focus easily right.... i din try the manual focus with it... kinda hard to tell if is focusing correctly if manual..

clivengu: It appears that your F2.8 sensor is touching the outer part of the box. (It's the size of the spot metering circle.) If you notice, the closer you go to the test chart, the more accurate your focusing. Am thinking of having a TT in PJ next week, with hopefully a nice agenda, so we'll test your lens then.

Haha, nice catch!

*
So is that means the A700 sensor has misalignment or the lens? The test result.. im not sure how to judge... Yeah d more closer i go.. d more accurate the focusing... tats wat i find..
(Well. d Bigger the subject filing up d frame)....I'll give it a test.. if i try put my focusing subject slightly lower than the Spot bracket n see how it goes..

Lets arrange a TT next week!.. pls not this week.. hehe cause im just bout to catch flight now going back hometown.. n only b back kl this sat night laugh.gif Really hope to get u guys test it out for me.. If not i oso dont dare to go to the seller n confirm that the lens has problem...
