For you guys who are looking for a A300 and don't mind paying a bit more, Sony Style KLCC still has stock. I don't know how many units but the sales person says they have stock.

I was there Friday evening showing a friend of mine the A330 and then I took him to see a Canon 1000D and then to see a Nikon D5000. So don't blame me for being a fan boy ok?

While he was fiddling with the A330 and the 50mm F1.8, he asked to have a look at the A900 with a 85m CZ lens attached. He said the lens is sharp and then he looked at the price tag - RM9999 (Sony Style mah) and said, "Wah! Expensive!" When I told him that price did not include the lens, his jaws dropped. He's a total noob to DSLR... LOL!

Zen-X : Last Friday, Sony Style KLCC sales person says that they still have stock for the A300. The price will be higher is you buy from Sony Style because they only sell at retail price.

You can try your luck there.. who knows.. this is discontinued model and maybe they can offer you some freebies...

Also the A230 and the A330 promotion family package is damn nice! They give you one 50mm f/1.8 plus F20 flash plus one bag for RM699 more only!

so long didnt popup here...
and a lot of news i missed out...if i didnt read here, i wouldnt know alpha have new FF line up - A850...and a550 will launched soon...
owh..so many things i miss...
morning guys...how u all doing??
owh by the way, about the DxO thingy...
is it a software for noise therapy????
*
Hi creepy, welcome back.

DxO is a software to process RAW and it can reduce the noise level quite effectively as I've heard lar... haven't tried it before.

And yup, the A550 has just been lauched and the A850 is the cheapest FF digital SLR you can buy right now.

creepy : Haven't really gone out and really test the machine yet. I'm still trying to get used to the wider view and adjusting to the DOF of the FF. Besides I have only one FF lens to use it on... hahahahahaha....

creepy : The A850 has the same IQ as the A900. It's basically the A900 with the following differences :

- 3fps instead of 5fps
- 98% viewfinder instead of 100%

All other specs are identical. Twin Bionz and all... thus noise control also same.

The FF offer a narrower DOF compared to APS-C. Sometimes I feel like the lens have back focus at brighter apertures but it may very well be a case of me not used to the thinner DOF as I have tested and some shots came out ok and some seems like OOF.

uncle ian : Ya. The A850 also have micro adjustment for Sony and KM lenses. I have tried it but I feel it's not really a back focus issue. It's probably me.. LOL...

guys, I saw a Zeiss 77mm MC Protector filter at Sony Style last night. Thought of getting it for my lens but wondering, is it UV or clear multi coated only?
*
I think it is clear MC only but I could be wrong. Albert would know better since he did buy one some time back...

Btw... talking about filter. I've read that even a good filter could degrade your picture quality. Is it true?
*
Technically it is true that any filter will affect the IQ. You've just put another piece of glass in front of your lens. It will affect the light coming in to some degree, thus affecting the IQ. But that said, can we really tell the difference by just looking at the output picture is another thing.

What: TT for PJ people!

Featuring the Sony Cybershot WX-1 with Exmor-R backlit CMOS sensor (if you're interested in seeing how it performs). Hopefully we can get an A550 to make an appearance!

Also going to do backfocus testing for clivengu's Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 and A700 combo.

Parking should be easy there - it's next to a big parking lot. The mamak is one of the bigger, more spacious ones I've seen so far!

why power on the flash f42, the battery indicator doesn't light up? how i know the battery left how much time to go....
*
Battery indicator? The battery indicator will display only when the battery is low. If your batteries are fresh, the indicator will not show.

It will not show any percentage or how much time is left coz it's all depending on how the flash is used. If you fire it at 1/1 power all the time, the batteries will not last very long. Typically, a fresh set of batteries should last around 400 shots, give or take in normal usage.

Yup! The 18-250 is one fine lens. Just don't expect miracles from it and you will be fine. It's a superzoom after all and a pretty good one at that!

I will be away for a week. Going to Taiwan for travel. Hopefully can come back with lotsa nice pics! See you guys in a week's time!!
