utas is apparently quite a popular place with singaporeans...partly because the professional degrees (mbbs/llb/etc) are recognised....unlike the newer generation of unis, which spore is not so ready to recognise.....and it's the cheapest and easiest to enter, of the sandstone unis (don't mistake that for the go8)..........

What has a Jazz graduate, a Geography graduate and a Physical Education graduate got to do with a medical program. All these are senior management and HODs in Alliance Medical University and they are termed as "Meducators".

Thought you were telling a joke, then i read the second sentence. Not funny eh? Next they will emphasize "holistic" med course, and improperly defining"holistic".

From what I have read, there are a few people who got conditional offers for UTAS '16. If anyone needs help (information etc.) I'm sure onelove as well as I would be happy to explain a little further. Please pardon that there might be late replies though, exams.

he is just saying the politically correct thing.....

this education minister will go down in msian history as the worst, the least aware about issues, and the most political......decisions are made for political expediency than usefulness or good.......

as for the 'demand' for medical studies, he is of course complete off the mark with his comments....'demands' should be based on the needs of the country and society.....NOT student/parental demands and wishes.....but such concepts are probably alien to him.....

One thing is clear, the real issues are never considered, and never thought out, as there is only agenda.

Can't exactly blame him actually... He's not the higher education minister after all.. But what's he doing at Allianz is something to ponder about...

Alliance sets minimum B in STPM subjects as one of the entrance requirements. Not bad for one of the lower tier medical colleges.

Do you think the students actually come from there or is just a marketing tool. Most of the students would actually come from the dubious foundation in science examined internally.

that is because it's the new mmc guideline, not their own choice.....most of them only want ccc in the past.....

maybe that's why the useless (sorry, but i have to be honest) minister of education is looking for more scholarships.....because there are ten's of thousands of interested students with adequate qualifications.....but no money.....it is obvious now he wasn't actually interested in meeting the 'demands' of students......but meeting the demands of med schools to fill all their places......smile.gif

the ipts are running out of people with money and minimum qualifications....when the minimum was ccc, the net is cast wider.....now with bbb, they are stuck....

p/s.....i have always believed that if we hear some 'dumb' statements from politicians, it just sound dumb to us, because we do not know the real background and reason for the statement.....

i was wondering what the dpm/ed minister was trying to say.....i thought he was stupid/ignorant....

now i understand why he said that....and as usual, he is playing politics....he needs to keep the ipts med school owners happy and profitable, by ensuring they fill all their places....previously by low quality students with money....and now by some kind of scholarship/loans.....it's all about business and profits.....
